Pros:

Works very well! It cleared my skin in 2 days.

Cons:

Drys out your skin and on the first couple of times of use it might burn. Also bleaches out clothes if contacted with them.

This is probably the cheapest acne product out there, and is the best one I have ever used!

Pros:

Effectively clears up skin with continuous use. When I started I had noticed a difference within a few days. Results to more even skin tone and surface, superior oil control.

Cons:

Again this is not a cure, still get some small spots but they go away quickly. Skin can feel a little dry, especailly in winter months.

As a student it is expensive but they recently started a package which is cost effective. I fully recommend this line to anyone who has not had sucess with other products. I've used Garnier, Proactiv, and perscriptions yet this product has proven, for me, to be the most effective.

Pros:

makes my face FEEL clean. felt better since i kinda believed it was gonna work. it's sort of a hassle, and my face gets awful if i forget and skip a night.

Cons:

super dried out afterwards (unless u pay even more the for proactiv moisturizer which doesn last for more than 5 minutes)peeling skin (but atleast it seemed to kill the zits. ha)

K, so ever since i moved up to idyllwild at a higher altitude and drier weather, I started getting crazy acne. I tried alla this wash crap and it never worked. then my friend who had terrible acne the year before comes walking around with abso-freakin-lutely perfect skin. i never wanted to buy proactiv, but he said that's what did it and it works for everyone. so im buyin it, and ive been buying it, and I've noticed a small difference, but I feel almost as if it might be working a little bit because I want to believe it does. I mean hell, this kid had ZITS, and now they're all gone....huh.weird. so ima keep buying and using it till it stops working on me and I get pissed too like everyone else says. ha. until then, maybe having a few less zits with a better mentality isnt SO bad. I would reccomend it to try, and if it sucks, it sucks. Ive been on it for like two months, and maybe ill regret it, or maybe it'll work like my friend. b4 I used to get antibiotics for it and it never helped.

Pros:

Easy to take chewable tablets. VERY effective. Cuts back on having to use harsh chemicals and lots of creams on skin.

Cons:

Doesn't 100% solve the problem, but is really worth taking anyway.

My skin has finally quit breaking out with huge pimples on my cheeks and chins. If i get anything, they are tiny. I've only used this for a month, but I hope to see even more of a difference. I highly suggest this to anyone who feels like they've tried everything. Give it a few weeks, and you will love the effect it has.

Pros:

Excellent for spot treatment

Cons:

Terrible for the whole face.

Only use this product as a spot treatment. Then put moisturiser over the top where you use this product. It's extremly drying but it can clear up big acne, like cysts etc, in just 2 nights. (I only use stuff like this at night so i measure in nights)

Pros:

Nice liquid easy to rub in, the 10% is fine for my face. I only use this on my face. It has pratically no smell to it and works good I guess, only because I still get about two bad acne spots on myface. But did help clear things up.Butnot100%perfect.

Cons:

Some times it does not rub in all the way and leaves white marks. Just use water for that spot and rub it off. Dryness can occur, but that helps stop new acne.

Go ahead and try it as something new and see how it works on YOU. Everyone here has a different situation and the only way to find out if something works it to actually get it and try it.

Pros:

easy to use, no irritation at all, really really works..

Cons:

a little hard to find.. :(

this product really works...my acne is about 99.9% cleared but i was still getting stubborn breakouts but i find that bp creams 5% are too strong and irritating so i thought that the pads would rememdy that..TA DA!! not only do they work but the grooved pads help to gently exfoliate my face daily...gotta luv that! i luv that they have bp as opposed to the usual sal acid which does nuthin for my skin..i highly recommend this product

Pros:

REMARKABLE difference - seems to kill all the badness underneath the surface which a lot of products promise but never work!!! Sinks into the skin beautifully and when used at night the results in the morning are AMAZINGLY better ! DEFINITELY worthy!

Cons:

No dryness on my part - I know PanOxyl can dry your skin out a lot as I used this and it made me look and feel like a monster because of the dryness but Quinoderm because it's a cream seems a lot milder !!!

Have had mild bad skin for a few years now and have tried EVERYTHING (prescriptions, clearasil, oxy, pan oxyl, freederm, retanin-A, dianette etc) and can honestly say that quinoderm is BY FAR the BEST product i have EVER used) NO side effects, NO nasty dryness, redness or irritation, just clears up spots a treat and leaves you feeling and looking much better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

ive used brevoxyl 4% BP cream for well over a year and its been terrific at treating my acne. works really quick and kills acne very well.

Cons:

dries out skin a lot... you need to use a good moisturiser to retain any of your sanity!

great product as far as treating acne... has never let me down and ive been using it for about a year and a half now. remember the dryness tho... make sure you have a good acne healthy moisturiser present to use also. follow dans reg closely.
November 20, 2007

Pros:

For me, less cystic acne.

Cons:

Expensive, and didn't clear my skin all the way; ever. Once I stopped using it I broke out horribly.

It probably does do a good job for the people endorsing it on tv, but it won't work for evryone. Try it if you've done nearly everything else.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
