What to expect for Mild Acne

WEEK 1

Mild improvement. Skin is red, irritated, and itches while skin adjusts to treatment.

WEEK 2

Further clearing, followed perhaps by a breakout. The breakout clears more quickly than usual. Skin is slightly less red and irritated. Red spots from old acne linger.

WEEK 3

Skin is definitely improved. Some cases are cleared up. Others are well on their way. Red spots from old acne linger.

WEEK 4

Skin is looking very good. No new acne is forming, but red spots from old acne may still remain.

WEEK 5-7

Skin stays clear, with perhaps a pimple here and there which clears quickly. Red spots are slowly fading.

WEEK 8+

Ongoing treatment keeps skin clear. Red spots continue to fade until complexion is beautiful and clear.

What to expect for Severe Acne

WEEK 1

Usually slight improvement, some people have reported an initial worsening of acne. Skin is red, irritated, and itches.

WEEK 2

Clearing, followed by a breakout. Skin is still red, irritated and itchy. Person is considering other options.

WEEK 3

Skin continues to clear and breakouts are minimized. Skin is less red and no longer itches. Red spots from old acne are evident.

WEEK 4

For many people, skin is looking remarkably clearer. Others are still frustrated that their skin is not yet clear, but push on. Redness is gone. Red spots from old acne remain.

WEEK 5-7

For many people, the skin is now clear. For others, the struggle continues with intermittent breakouts. Red spots are fading slowly. Despite the urge to deviate from The Regimen and experiment, the person sticks with it precisely.

WEEK 8+

Usually by month 3 even tough cases are well on their way to becoming under total control. Many less severe cases now simply require ongoing treatment to maintain acne-free skin. Red spots continue to fade to nothing. An isolated pimple from time to time is normal and to be expected.

Face

Perform these steps both in the
morning and in the evening.

It is important to follow them
exactly for best results.

STEP 1

Cleanser

Try brushing your teeth first. After using The Regimen it's best to prevent getting anything on the skin around your mouth.

1.1
Gently splash your face and neck with warm water from your sink. Or in the shower, allow a gentle stream of warm water from your showerhead to gently splash across your face.

This preps your skin for washing. By not rubbing the skin when getting the face wet, you are reducing irritation. Medical research shows reducing irritation is vital to clear acne. Avoid very hot water because it can scald the skin, which can also be irritating.

1.2
Dispense 2 full pumps (4mL) of Acne.org Cleanser and generously lather up hands with cleanser. Be vigorous and take the time needed to get a good lather going.

Using two full pumps of Acne.org Cleanser will allow you to generate a generous lather, which will allow you to gently move the cleanser over your skin, thus reducing irritation.

1.3
Gently wash problem areas with your bare hands for 10 seconds or less. This may seem different from what you’re used to but do not wash for longer than 10 seconds. Do not use a wash cloth or any other cleansing device, as they are far too irritating compared to bare hands.

Cleansing is necessary because it removes surface oils. This allows the benzoyl peroxide (Step 2) to penetrate. Washing for this short a period of time reduces irritation.

1.4
Gently splash your face and neck with warm water until the cleanser is rinsed away. Or allow a gentle stream of water from your showerhead to splash across your face until the cleanser is rinsed away. Allow the water to do the work.

Remaining exceedingly gentle, barely touching your skin as you perform The Regimen, is necessary to achieve completely clear skin.

1.5
Using a soft, absorbent towel, gently pat your skin dry, barely touching your face with the towel. Allow any remaining moisture to evaporate on its own. Never rub or scrub your skin dry.

When you stay extremely gentle and let the towel do the work, you are again taking necessary steps to avoid irritation.

1.6
Wait until your skin is dry.

Letting your skin dry allows the benzoyl peroxide (Step 2) to better absorb.

STEP 2

Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide - 2.5%)

Important

See dosage chart below. You’ll start with a pea size amount of Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) and work up to 2 full pumps or a full thick finger’s length.

Using an extremely generous amount of Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) is the heart and soul of this regimen. When in doubt, use more!

Dosage chart

The pictures below represent how much Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) you need if treating your entire face. If your problem area is only part of your face, you will need less. If your problem area includes the front of your neck, you will need more.

Pump dispenser (16 oz.)

Regimen Pump Start

Start The Regimen slowly. At the onset of The Regimen, use less than one half of a pump of Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%). Apply just once a day for the first week.

Regimen Pump End

Slowly ramp up the dosage until you are using two full pumps (4mL) as pictured above, twice per day. This should take approximately 2-4 weeks.

Tube (8 oz.)

Regimen Tube Start

Dispense this much at the onset of The Regimen. Apply just once a day for the first week.

Regimen Tube End

Slowly ramp up the dosage until you’re using a full finger’s length (4mL). This should take approximately 2-4 weeks.

2.1
Wash and dry hands.

This helps remove any oils that may have accumulated on your hands. Exposure to some oils can aggravate acne.

2.2
Dispense the recommended amount (see dosage chart above) of Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) and spread it on your face very gently with your fingers. Carefully avoid the delicate area around the eyes. Do not rub. Just allow your fingers to glide over your skin, spreading it around and letting it absorb on its own. Applying this way may take a couple of minutes. If after 3 minutes, the benzoyl peroxide is not fully absorbed, allow the rest to absorb on its own.

The more gently you treat your skin, the faster and more completely you will clear up. Allowing the benzoyl peroxide to absorb on its own without rubbing is a crucial step in reducing irritation.

2.3
Wait 5-15 minutes for your skin to dry. Do not rinse off the benzoyl peroxide. Once it is applied, you will leave it on the skin.

Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) oxygenates skin, dries and peels inside the pore. It is important to give it the time it needs to properly medicate before introducing moisturizer.

STEP 3

Moisturizer with Licochalcone

3.1
Wash and dry hands.

Washing hands removes any oils that may have accumulated.

3.2
Dispense 2 pumps (4mL) of Acne.org Moisturizer. When in doubt, use more.

Note: If you have oily skin and 2 pumps (4mL) of Acne.org Moisturizer will not absorb all at once, try applying only 1 pump (2mL), wait for it to dry, and then apply the second pump. Extremely oily skin may only require 1 pump (2mL) of Acne.org Moisturizer.

Dryness is irritation. Properly reintroducing hydration to the skin not only eliminates flakiness which benzoyl peroxide can produce, it also helps keep the skin from becoming too dry. It is vital to keep skin in balance. Do not skip this step and do not skimp on moisturizer.

3.3
Apply Acne.org Moisturizer very gently with your fingers much like you applied the benzoyl peroxide. Avoid the delicate eye area because the moisturizer can pick up the underlying benzoyl peroxide. Do not rub. Allow your fingers to gently glide over the skin. This should take no longer than 3 minutes. If after 3 minutes, the moisturizer is not fully absorbed, allow the rest to absorb on its own.

Applying moisturizer this gently and briefly reduces irritation, which is a must to achieve 100% clear skin.

Body

Perform these steps both in the
morning and in the evening.

exactly for best results.

STEP 1

Cleanser

1.1
Gentle cleansing is most easily performed in the shower. Dispense 2 pumps (about a teaspoon’s worth – 4mL) of Acne.org Cleanser into your palm and get a good lather going.

Using a generous amount of Acne.org Cleanser will allow you to generate a thick lather. The more lather you generate, the more easily your hands will glide across your skin, thereby reducing irritation.

1.2
Very gently wash your problem areas. Stay exceedingly gentle when washing and wash only for a very short period of time. For instance, wash each side of your back or chest for 10 seconds or less per side. Rinse.

Cleansing is necessary because it removes surface oils which allows the Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) and/or Acne.org AHA+ (Glycolic Acid – 10%) to penetrate, but you can easily achieve this goal with bare hands and only a few seconds of washing. Washing for this short a period of time reduces irritation and is one of the most important steps in The Body Regimen.

1.3
Upon exiting the shower, gently dry your skin. Do not rub. Just let the towel sit on your skin and absorb the wetness. You may not get completely dry with the towel this way but that’s preferable to irritating rubbing.

Anything which rubs, scratches, or comes into prolonged contact with the skin can cause irritation. Stay very gentle with your towel.

1.4
Wait until your skin is dry. Feel free to do other normal daily activities during this time.

Letting your skin dry allows the Acne.org Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide – 2.5%) to better absorb.

STEP 2

Treatment (Benzoyl Peroxide - 2.5%)

Spread it onto one side of your back or chest, allowing your fingers to very gently glide over the skin until the benzoyl peroxide is more or less absorbed. Dispense another 2 pumps (about a teaspoon’s worth – 4mL) and apply to the other side of your back or chest. Repeat as necessary, depending on how many parts of your body you are treating.

Using an extremely generous amount of benzoyl peroxide is crucial. When in doubt, use more!

Note: This refers to only after you have worked up your dosage to the full amount (2 pumps – about a teaspoon’s worth – 4mL). If you have sensitive skin, start with a small amount of benzoyl peroxide and work up the amount you use over a week or two.

2.3
Wait 5-15 minutes until your skin is completely dry. Feel free to do other normal daily activities during this time.

Benzoyl peroxide oxygenates skin and dries and peels inside the pore. It is important to give it the time it needs to properly medicate and treat acne.

Benzoyl peroxide can bleach fabric. This is the most challenging part of this regimen. If you are using benzoyl peroxide in the morning, you may want to wear a white undershirt. Once you are completely clear, try eliminating benzoyl peroxide from the morning routine. Still keep applying the glycolic acid twice a day, but only apply benzoyl peroxide at night and see if you can stay clear with just once daily benzoyl peroxide application. This works well for some people with less severe body acne.

STEP 3

AHA+ (Glycolic Acid - 10%)

3.1
Wash and dry hands.

This helps remove any oils that may have accumulated on your hands. Exposure to oils can aggravate acne.

3.2
Dispense 2 pumps (about a teaspoon’s worth – 4mL) of Acne.org AHA+ (Glycolic Acid – 10%) for each side of your back or chest.

The body is a large area and requires a lot of glycolic acid to properly treat. Don’t skimp!

3.3
Apply very gently, allowing your fingers to glide over the body until the Acne.org AHA+ (Glycolic Acid – 10%) is more or less absorbed. Wait for the glycolic acid to dry before dressing.

Staying super gentle reduces irritation.
