Pros:

Seems to work sometimes.

Cons:

Tends to make things work sometimes; very inconsistent.

I was allowed an essentially infinite supply of this stuff by my parents and I used it as directed for probably a month and a half when I noticed that pimples would just keep coming back... even though used twice a day as directed, it worked about as effectively as putting milk and flour on your face (that is, not at all). From what I've seen, almost all acne products don't work for me, except for the masques. I don't know what it is, but I'd guess the lack of oxygen on the growth minimizes their size and prevents future outbreaks. Just a speculation, but when I find time I'm going to try swimming also; from what I've seen, swimmers generally don't have acne. However, when I went on an outdoorsy vacation, the fresh air seemed to help for a while. My face didn't get much sun, but somehow the acne disappeared for a while.

Pros:

I have been suffering from acne my whole life accutane.... Tried it all. About a week ago I was crying every day because of my skin. I had used this product before but not for years. Anyway- it is a week later and there are no new zits on my skin!!

Cons:

Drying

It will clear up your skin but you must use lotion. I think this bar alone is the best product. I have retin a but dont mix the two.

Pros:

the greatest bp product on the market, gets rid of acne fast, and dries extremely fast(so no having to wait for your bp treatment to dry)

Cons:

dries out your skin if you put it all over your face,i think that was mentioned before, but seriously don't spread it all over your face (use Dan's bp gel for that)

If you want the most effective product on the market for getting rid of acne fast you must give this product a try. Oh ya be sure to have a good moisturizer just in case your skin gets dried out

Pros:

water-based so doesn't dry out skin as bad as most alcohol-based bp products, worked great for me for many years...but eventually i had to switch products because my skin got used to it

Cons:

can sometimes be irritating on the skin, use it once a day for the first week...it bleaches eyebrows, clothes, towels and anything else it touches! sometimes it even bleaches your face...i got comments about how pales i looked.

i actually think this is the best emergency "vanishing cream" ive ever used. unfortunately...i used it for about 5 years and i became immune to it and recently needed to change products..but it did work very well for me for a long time. at about 20 bucks a tube, its quite expensive.

Pros:

Clears up skin incredibly well. By far the best BP product I have ever used. Not a pimple in sight.

Cons:

Using it twice a day on my face and shoulders twice a day as well as my chest and neck in the morning takes a solid hour to an hour to hour and a half. Also, using that much makes me go through a whole tube in just a week.

OK, so you have sacrifice time and money, but the result of awesome looking skin is totally worth it. I personally don't think the regimen would work without this stuff. Make sure if have body as well as facial acne that you buy it in bulk, because you'll go through it quick.

Pros:

Smells great...the Repairing Lotion and the Refining Mask are great...dont like the cleanser as it dries out the skin too much...

Cons:

Cleanser should be milder....dries out face too much....I've developed a darker tone on my face than on my neck..anyone else? not too noticeable...but one can tell....

Try it...works for some not for others....I called customer service and they said its really targeted for teenagers and adults up to the age of 22 or 23...if you're over 25 try something else....

Pros:

This product is the #1 product around for treatment of acne and nothing else compares to the results you get with this.

Cons:

Absolutely None, You have to try it!!! Trust me.

Ok first of all I have had all kinds of acne breakouts in the past, Carleys Clear and smooth is the ONLY product that truly took the acne away and not only that left my skin with no scarring and so smooth and fresh looking! I have used proactive, and murad as well as prescription creams etc. Nothing worked as good as Carley's clear and smooth. Carleys has cleared my skin 100% no lie, and I had lots of acne before. You have to keep using it though and be patient, being patient is the key-use it for a few months every day then you will notice - NO ACNE!! Whoever reads what I am writing here-this is the truth and this product really does work, but you have to use it right. U have to use it for at least two months to totally clear up acne, because what happens is the acne currently on your face and any in your pores have to be treated first, and then once gone all the applications after will go to prevent any from forming. This honestly works and I can not tell you enough how nice it is

Pros:

Very gentle form of Benzoyl Peroxide, will clear skin wonderfully if the main concern is a build up of bacteria.

Cons:

May lose effectiveness after long term usage, makes skin sensetive to sunlight.

I have had very mild to moderate acne since I was about 12 and came across Proactive when I was 16. That only worked for a few years before it started to actually hurt my skin. So I found these little pads with the same active ingredient, Benzoyl Peroxide, and they worked wonders! These pads don't dry out skin, gentle, work well after a gentle face wash, some may need a lotion afterwards.

Pros:

it cleared up 99% of my acne without irritating my skin!

Cons:

hardly any cons! i guess the repair cream's consistency is slightly watery, but it works very well anyway.

I used to use BenzaClin, which dried out my face more and was less effective. After the first week of AcneFree, my face was less red, and after about 3 weeks my face got dry for about 2 days and then suddenly my skin became clear. My skin has remained so much better ever since, it is almost perfect! I REALLY recommend this product! As for the people who have complained of it ruining their skin, perhaps they are irritated by the benzoyl peroxide in this formula -- if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide, don't use it! But if you have not been bothered by it in the past, go for it! It worked so well for me!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
