Pros:

None at all

Cons:

This product scared my face where i had pimples and made patches of acne on my skin where i never had problems before. Wherever I had a bad pimple it got rid of the blemish but left a brown mark in its place

This product is a complete SCAM! The acne medication scared my face where I had pimples and actually made my complexion much WORSE! This is an over priced product that gets you to believe that it will work so awesome and so quickly. I kept waiting for my miracle skin to appear and it never happened, instead all I'm left with is brown scars on my face and a horrible product. The medication kept my acne at bay so it would get worse not better. I would have hated to see what my face looked like if I full blown acne before I used it then it would have been even worse! On top of it all they won't refund my money so all I'm left with is a horrible product and scars.

Pros:

It is very affordable. They answer your emails very quickly and the are good on their refund. I like the natural soap and will continue to buy for a body soap for my family.

Cons:

It broke me out terribly!!

I wanted this product to work for me so bad, because of all the great reviews and it is a natural product, but unfortunately I think I was one of the 1% that it does not work for. I used it for 8 weeks and at week 6 I think every pore on my face was clogged. My face has never been that bad. It was not getting better but worse every day. I was so embarassed to go out and I always had to cake on the makeup when I did. I now am going to see a dermatologist to see if I can get my face back to just having light acne. I would give it a try because of the price and the refund guarantee.

Pros:

works well skin looks healthier after 1 wash!

Cons:

step 3 stings a little on the problem areas

this product works GREAT! it cleared up my black heads which were all over my t zone and flattened the huge pimples that are sore when you touch them.

Pros:

It does help clear your skin, but you have to wait. Like it said, in FOUR days, it will reduce redness inflammation blackheads and overall acne. In four days you will see this.

Cons:

It dries your skin BUT if you put on the day moisturizer before the night before you go to bed, it wont dry out your skin.

It works great, and for the price it is EVERYONE should go get it.

Pros:

Proactiv really does clear up your skin. The 3-Step system is very easy to use and you honestly can skip a day or two without anything happening to your skin. I am able to use other OTC products without any problems.

Cons:

I can only use it at night because my face is red and oily for a bit until it blends in with the skin. Also i would use something like aveeno or cetaphil in addition.

Proactiv really does clean up your skin, although i wouldn't say that it makes it luminous like they do on the ads. The refining mask is probably the best product and really does work if not over used. Just don't over use the product and you should be fine.

BON'T BIE IT
March 4, 2009

Pros:

nice under makeup, helps clear acne, helps prevent acne, no odor, cheap, easy to dispense, good consistency, absorbs into skin quickly.

Cons:

can dry out skin/cause flaky skin even after a month of using it.
still break out a little.

five months ago, using this, i'd be acne free. the problem with me is that as i fight my acne, and i get a hold of better products and form a better regimen to clear my skin, my acne is getting worse. but, i recommend it. works well, not perfectly, as expected. i like it a lot. nice under makeup.

Pros:

ZERO

Cons:

made my skin worse
smells real bad
too expensive for such a scam

okay, long story short i had faith in it, used it for 3+ months last year well... it did not help one bit it made my acne WORSE than its ever been before proactiv is full of harsh ingredients that are not nice to your skin and make your skin burn, itch and peel. proactiv is such a stupid product. dont buy it. sure theres a chance it may work for you, but that chance is slim and not worth the risk of breaking out worse than you are now and having to fix the damage done by it. also, WHY would you put that much peroxide on your face? ya, they claim theres such a small amount in it, but why put that stuff on your face at all?HINT- be NICE to your face and it will return the favor. dont smother it with acne medications.i used biore cleanser and it quickly fixed proactivs damage.lesson learned.

Pros:

Its nice to take a pill and forget about it

Cons:

they need to sell a face wash with it instead of that blasted cream!!

It WORKS no need for proactiv if you can take a pill use the cream for bad breakouts and have a good face wash to wash the day away!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
