Pros:

cleared up my acne extremely well

Cons:

costly if you do not have insurance
makes skin sensitive
can be sticky if you do not mix it with a moisturizer when you put it on

I have had acne for about five years. My acne started to get really bad (hurt to touch anywhere on my face)about a year ago, so I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed this. It got better immediately. Now, a year later my skin keeps getting clearer and clearer every month!

Pros:

This product isn't messy by any means, it actually works, it doesn't take what seems like FOREVER to clear up your skin, it doesn't smell bad, and it's cheap if you have insurance (if not it runs for 1,000 dollars from what I was told). It also works day AND night. Works better if you put it on before you sleep though.

Cons:

When you leave it on for about 10 minutes, it becomes sticky which I hate. When I wake up there's things from my pillow stuck to it in patches where it was on my face. Other than those things, nothing else is bad.

It's helped a lot with my acne. I tried EVERYTHING (and I'm only 15). But I'm also using about 4 different things to keep my skin clear and I think my skin is becoming dependent on all these things... not good considering I use very expensive stuff and we go through tough times quite a bit here. It works in about a week, and keeps it clear with multiple uses throughout the day when I'm home and once at night. I recommend for anyone who can afford it/has insurance. GREAT PRODUCT.

Pros:

I love Ziana, after about 2 months of using it I realized I have no acne on my face. I am also taking doxycyline 100mg and my skin has not looked so good in a long time. I would say I had moderate acne but it was all over my face and my biggest nightmare were my blackheads. Well guess what...not a single blackhead now, not even one. I just hope it will stay this way.

Cons:

The only thing that concerns me are my enlarged pores mostly on my nose. I guess once all the blackheads are gone this is what you are left with. Other then that no complaints.

I love Ziana and I would definitely recommend it to a friend

Im 31 and I've been using ziana for 2 months and taking an antibiotic for my acne for one month. I also use cerave face wash. My pimples have not improved at all!! I look worse, I have cystic acne, black heads and little white head pimples. I originally went to the derm for my cystic pimples and he prescribed me ziana. then a month later i was still breaking out so he gave me the antibiotic along w ziana. How much longer do I need to take this stuff before it starts working. I'm so frustrated I want to cry every time I look at my face. Oh and now I have red marks more on my face than I did before. The derm told me the ziana would help with that too but it isn't. I'm wondering if I should just take accutane.

Pros:

Fades acne scars/dark spots
Controls acne flare ups right away
Balances skin tone

Cons:

Drys out skin first couple of weeks
Creates redness
Causes sensitivity if exposed to sun often

My dream prescription. I had given up on topical and oral treatments and was on the verge of coming to terms with my adult acne. Paid a visit to the derm and he suggested Ziana based on my age (29), type of acne (hormonal), and skin (bi-racial). I have been using this once a day, after cleansing at night with Glytone - which I also swear by for those adults who want to combat acne and aging skin - along with Doxicyclone, an oral antibiotic that treats bacterial infections from the inside out. This three-step ritual has been my saving grace. I noticed results immediately. The gel worked to clear up the surface of my skin and the oral medication helps future breakouts by treating bacteria internally. For those that have had acne for years as I have, you know that bacteria is the root of all pimples and both the Ziana and the Doxi have cleared up my skin in a matter of weeks. The cons I listed are worth it because the dryness doesn't last once your PH levels balance out. And the tube is huge! You only need a pea sized amount - the gel spreads easily and is so effective that there is no need to slather on. Will continue to use until my derm stops prescribing. Worth it, worth it, worth it!

Pros:

1. Marks fade more quickly (compared to not treating them at all)
2. Large quantity in one tube

Cons:

1. Purging period can last 1-2 months, if not longer
2. Not affordable unless you have the right insurance
3. does NOT help hormonal acne

A few things: -do NOT review this item until you have used it for at least 3 months! -If you have any reason to believe that your acne is hormonal, do NOT use this. Topical medications such as Ziana will only bring blemishes to the surface faster; it does not treat hormonal acne. I was prescribed Ziana in the beginning of August 2012. I used it religiously for about 3 months (at bedtime) along with Clindamycin Pledgets and Erythromycin 500mg every day. I did experience a purging period. A few cysts around the chin/jawline area along with numerous, small zits. After about 7-8 weeks, I saw improvement, and my hopes were up. Yet out of no where, my acne returned to a state similar to the original purging period. 3 months into treatment, I had a follow-up visit with my derm. She kept me on it, but upped my antibiotic intake (which I'm not fond of). I was also given a chemical peel. From experience, I knew I would break out from it, but I was hopeful this was the last push I needed...it wasn't. My forehead broke out tremendously (which it hasn't done in 7 years) and it seemed like I was about to experience a third purging period! Three (3) weeks after the peel, I switched forms of birth control from Mirena (a progestin-only method) to NuvaRing (a combination hormonal method). After one week of the switch, I can already see a difference in my skin! I still use Ziana, however, it is ironic because Ziana is at least partly responsible for them being there. Long story short: If you believe your acne is a result of some sort of hormonal imbalance, or you use a progestin-only method of hormonal birth control. do NOT use this!

Pros:

Works great and leaves skin feeling soft and brighter. Works perfectly well. The best part of it is that I got it free from my dermatology.

Cons:

Purging period is annoying. Makes your face really nasty at the beginning.

You just have to give it some time to work, about 5 to 6 weeks. After that, it starts clearing out your skin nicely. Stick to it and you will be amazed!

Pros:

I have only been using this for a month so far, but it is easy to apply, dries clear, has no distinct smell, dries fast, is only used once at night.

Cons:

So far, dries my skin, causing irritation, slight itching and burning, purging period is lasting a while!!

I went to the dermatologist on October 4th, 2012. She prescribed me ziana gel, which I am still using the samples since she gave me about 7 of them along with cerave lotion. I have been using this product religiously to this day, so for 27 days or so now. I am getting pretty frustrated and losing hope because my " purging period" seems to be never ending! Although I can say my fine lines have smoothed out. I know I must give this more time but I expected to at least see SOME improvement acne wise by now, but it just seems to be getting worse :/ is this normal? It's been a month already! Anyone have similar problems with good results ? Ha

Pros:

Not greasy
spreads easily
works better than any acne treatment from the store and off the tv

Cons:

few big red pimples (by ears, lower jaw)

I have a friend that is a Physician Assistant (PA) and she gave me 6 small tubes (2g) (1 tube last, for me, 5 or 6 days) of Ziana and so far it works. I get real bad acne flare ups every 4-6 years. The last outbreak was 2006, so I knew it was about time for another. I also am taking Doxy 100mg for 10 days. DAY- I wake, take doxy, wash with ceraVe, apply neutrogena rapid tone repair moisturizer w/SPF 30 ($19.99) helps reduce dark marks in as little as a week (really worked in 7 days). NIGHT- take Doxy, wash w/ceraVe, apply ceraVe moisturizing lotion FIRST, then squeeze a pea size amount of Ziana on the tip of my finger, dab it all over my face, rub in gently. If you start to notice that your skin is dry and flaky mix 1 tsp of sugar and 2 pumps of ceraVe face wash (you want the mix to be paste like) and wash normally, it removes the flakes and makes your skin tone a little brighter, BUT only do it at the most 2x/week, to much can irritate our acne prone skin. Its only been 2.5 weeks, but my face is smoother and my boyfriend says my skin looks better and I need to stop picking and squeezing the pimples. After I am done with the Ziana my PA friend wants me to use the samples of Retin-A micro. FEW THINGS to REMEMBER: DON'T get your eyebrows waxed while using any Rx topical acne medicine (your skin is real thin and the wax causes irritation, (learned that the hard way), DON'T pick, leaves dark marks and cause more bumps and spots. I know I shouldn't pick, but I can't help it), DON'T expect fast results, my face started breaking out June and its almost Nov. and it is just getting smoother, its not clear yet, soon I hope it will be. I have noticed that when I cut back on sugar, breads and dairy my face does not break out as much and i lose a little weight. YOUR FACE WILL GET WORST B4 IT GETS BETTER (it may be 1 bump or an outbreak, but it will happen). TO MY FELLOW ACNE SUFFERS, HOLD your HEAD HIGH and SMILE, WALK TALL and PROUD. DONT be SHY or ASHAMED of YOUR ACNE!!!!
