Pros:

blackheads & whiteheads gone
works fast!
doesn't dry out skin
makes skin smooth
no adverse reactions with sun/UV rays

Cons:

none as of yet

I just turned 22 years old and have been battling pimples, acne, whiteheads, black heads - you name it, since puberty. I've seen dermatologists since I was 12 and tried a million different things, and nothing has worked until I tried Ziana. This is A MIRACLE. Seriously, I've never had such amazing results in so little time - 2 weeks and for so little money - ZERO dollars! I wish this stuff had come out ten years ago and maybe I wouldn't have been much more confident about my appearance in high school and college. I recommend this to anyone, heck I'll even be their spokeswoman!

Pros:

Gentle and effective on my skin and acne.

Cons:

Expensive without insurance and can dry skin.

I had doubts about Ziana at first. The gel didn't seem very convincing. I had swollen pimples on my forehead and the worst BACKNE ever. Every night I applied a thin layer to my back right after showering and waited about 15 seconds to dry before putting on my clothes then going to sleep. in about a a week and a half, MY ACNE WAS GONE! Great Great GREATNESS! ;{D

Pros:

Worked quickly
No side effects
Got rid of my acne problem!

Cons:

Dries skin that a moisturizer can't fix right away

I used this along with the oral pill, Doxycycline. So honestly it could have been the pill that helped my acne problem, or maybe it was a combination of them both. But for this product, less is more! My doctor told me to use it every night all over my face. But I used a TINY bit every other night, and only on my forehead, nose and chin (where I had the problems). I eventually worked up to more as my skin adjusted to it. My face did not get worse before it got better, it just gradually became clear. It was also only really dry for about 3 days. Now I might get about one pimple a month, and it would be a small one. It's so nice to not have to worry about it anymore! I've been using it for about 4 months now. Now I just have to get rid of the acne scars!

Pros:

-FREE with coupon from dermatologist
-Cleared ME up instantly
-I use an extra dab in the morning on pesky, dominant acne, and it is like a spot treatment- works very well
-Shrinks pores
-My skin feel soft and silky (Really it does)

Cons:

-Is EXTREMELY expensive without insurance. About $60 with my insurance, not bad for this "miracle worker" (according to me)
-It looks like an oily gel, which confused me at first, because I was assuming it would be a cream. The texture is just different from what you're used to, but I dont think that is a con necessarily

This product has absolutely worked for me! I would recommend it to anyone, but keep in mind that everyone is different, so what works for me might not work for you!

Pros:

Shrunk pores
Cleared up acne
Not drying

Cons:

Skin becomes a little more oily

Prior to going to the dermatologist, I had very oily skin (it would become slick about two hours after washing my face) and tons of cystic acne that would leave bad scars. On top of that, it was extremely sensitive to the point where any drugstore medicated creams, gels, lotions and washes (salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, I've tried also anti-bacterial washes, scrubs, high end and low end... everything really) as well as some prescriptions (tretinoin .1%) would cause my skin to flake and sometimes scab over while new acne was still forming and oil was still producing. It was strange. On my first trip to the dermatologist, I was given Ziana gel to be used after a sulfur wash at night and taken with 75mg of spironolactone. In the morning I would use Cetaphil, a Clinique toner (number 3), and spf 30 Aveeno moisturizer. I was told that it wouldn't work for weeks and possibly months, but literally after the first week I noticed a dramatic difference. I was ready to experience the "purging" and have my skin dry out, but none of that happened. All the cystic acne stopped to form and my skin started to brighten up. I've been using the same regimen for about four months now, and I have probably had three pimples that were noticeable in that whole time. I get occasional little bumps but those go away overnight. My scars finally have a chance to fade, and I think the Ziana helps it along. The only downside I've noticed is that my skin is still oily and possibly even more so. I'm still trying to figure out a way to tame it. I had a friend who told me a few weeks ago that my skin looked porcelain and perfect and that meant so much to me after 7 years of terrible acne! I would recommend this product to anyone.

Pros:

Clears acne and scarring from previous cystic acne.

Cons:

Takes about 7 weeks to work.

My Derm recommended Ziana. My acne was was mild to begin with and after a week of applying Ziana I had new acne covering my entire face. I also got the deep pimples that hurt really bad. I looked horrible, and my self esteem took a dump. I didn't even want to talk to people face to face. I fixed my hair to cover the sides of my cheeks. I also had to apply thicker makeup to try and cover the purplish scars I had all over my face. Around week seven I noticed that I wasn't getting any new acne and my face was clearing. It is now week 10 and my skin looks amazing. It has a glow to it and I can almost go without foundation. I still have a few light colored marks but they should be gone soon. It feels great to be able to tuck my hair behind my ears or wear a pony tail without being embarrassed. I recommend Ziana but make sure you give it time.

Pros:

Huge tube, easy to apply, feels light on skin

Still works well after applying a LOAD of moisturizer (as directed by derm).

Cons:

Can dry out your skin -- USE LOTS OF MOISTURIZER!!!!!!!!!!

Very expensive without the "rebate card" from Dr.

I am happy with this product! I felt a difference almost immediately with the type of acne I was experiencing. I was having a hormonal attack after having my 2nd child (same thing happened after my 1st), and I should have gone straight to the derm again, but I tried to use AcneFree (awful); it ended up in disaster, and I cried and prayed for my confidence to return after I found the new derm that I'm seeing now. She prescribed Ziana (+Solodyn + Yaz (generic) !) I started the Yaz 2.5 weeks ago, and I've been on the other products for 8 days. I am still in the "waiting" period, but I definitely see things going in the right direction. I was having giant, painful, cystic acne as well as huge, nasty puss filled sores...mostly around my jawline and neck, and some on my cheeks. I was so embarrassed about these and tried as hard as I could to NOT mess with them; it's hard. After only a few days, I saw that the acne was drying up and going away quickly. THRILLED! At the end of the first week, a few new bumps appeared, but ZERO puss filled pimples.. just a couple red bumps here and there that are going away quickly. Nothing compared to what I've had... and they do not seem to spread. I am happy to wait through this period if it means I will have great skin again soon (high hopes!!) My TRUE advice -- I could see how Ziana could do a horrible number on your skin if you do not moisturize!! I wash with Cetaphil, use Ziana, and then put a giant load of Cetaphil mositurizer on. Derm says this moisturizer will NOT keep the product from working and will not clog pores... and you REALLY need a lot of it if you are using Ziana (and other products like I am). Other reviews said the product is awful and tears your skin up, but I am guessing they are not following the directions. Don't overuse the product, and don't skip your moisturizer! :) It will only help you to moisturize! (With the correct moisturizer! Call your derm for a suggestion, but Cetaphil works wo

Pros:

* cleared up acne * made skin smoother

Cons:

* can be drying * skin seems blotchy in the winter * must be used before bed, because face feels slightly tight and sticky after putting it on

I'm 25 and went to my dermatologist in a last ditch effort to clear the bad recurring acne and scars that have plagued my chin since I was 19 and seemed to flare up especially when stressed. My derm prescribed ziana as well as an oral antibiotic, but after the first 6 weeks, I felt like it was a waste of time. Within the next 2 weeks, however, my face was finally cleared up for the first time in 6 years. As I've continued to use the product (and stopped the antibiotics all together), not only have I not had any further flare ups, but my skin has gotten smoother and softer. Apparently one of its active ingredients (retinol?) is used to help with wrinkles, an added bonus. It's important to note that when I first started using it, I only used it about 3x a week until my skin got used to it. Because it is drying initially, I think skin overcompensates by producing a lot of oil, so moderation is key. Good luck!

Pros:

works for light acne..if you know how to use it.

Cons:

a bit sticky.

got it from a derm. who didnt explain how it should be used. i put it on all over my face and it made my face break out even more. i was so upset! went to a second derm. for another opinion and they decided to leave me on the same treatment. except, this doctor actually showed me how to use ziana. amazingly, it worked about 2 weeks later. in fact, ppl have commented on how my face has changed. you only use a PEA sized amount and rub it all over. my acne was the very small zits that make your forehead look very lumpy...and now theyre all gone! Do recommend!

Pros:

Dries Pimples Fast, Making Their Disappearance Much Quicker
Works Great ;)
Face Feels Tighter
Makes Redness Go Away Little By Little

Cons:

Drying Of The Face (mosturizer highly recommended)
Takes Time
Expect results in at least a month
Many possible but rare side effects (consult dermatologist before using it)

I Love Ziana Gel, despite all the bad reviews, i think ziana gel is magical. it helps kill pimples quickly. if there a normal size, apply the gel at night and it will most likely be gone in the morning. It dries the skin a lot but using a moisturizer like "sheer moisturizer" will help, using sunscreen is also recommended. the gel is expensive but effective. with a healthcare plan you can get your first tube for $0. i still have my tube and its been almost 4 months since i got it and the tub isnt even halfway empty. With medicis save card, you can get the next two tubes for only $20 each. effective product. it also reduces redness after a few months. requires consistent use, do not give up, nothing gives immediate results. :-)
