Pros:

Cleans very well, calms my skin, prevents skin from cracking and peeling, face is less irritable.

Cons:

Doesn't clear up my acne entirely.

I have extremely sensitive facial skin and have never found a product that comes close to how gentle this astringent is. I always had dead skin on the end of my nose, on my cheeks, and around my chin and this has completely solved my problem. I use it in combination with the Daily Renewal Cleanser and the Moisturizing Lotion with sunblock. The only other company that rivals Biore in my book is Burt's Bees but their products aren't as inexpensive as Biore. My skin is much more clear, less blotchy, and almost to the point where I don't need makeup.

Pros:

dries up existing pimples fairly well, a lot of product per pad, doesnt smell horrible

Cons:

stings the first few times you use it, can dry skin if used more than once a day. doesnt do much in the way of prevention

i wouldnt use them as your main medication, but in conjunction with other things they work very well. if you have light acne, dont use them! these are for moderate acne cases only as they can be pretty harsh.

Pros:

-It is easily used
-it makes my skin feel a lot less oily
-smells kinda good (in that face washy kind of way)

Cons:

it just doesn't seem to get rid of my acne!

I've been using this product for a few years now. I have been going back and forth between topical medications (proactive, benzaclin) and have been getting depressed at the lack of results. The only thing that has stayed with me the whole time is this face wash.

Pros:

works relatively well, not over drying, a little goes a long way

Cons:

smells a little funny, a little expensive

Yeah, it's worth it. The stuff works - the trick is, and it says this right on the packaging, that you have to use is consistently, a couple of times per week for at LEAST 8 weeks (just like with ANY other dermatological product) to really see noticeable, lasting, long-term results. This will lighten most scars, but I don't think it works on really dark hyperpigmentation, and I don't think you can lighten freckles with it if that's what you're after. It smells a little strange but honestly, when you open up that tube and know your scars are fading away a little more every time you use the product, you come to look forward to the smell of success ^_^

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
