Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Love the smell
Doesnt dry skin out
A little exfoliation from the beads

Cons:

None

Really like this scrub. It doesnt clear all my acne but it helped clear a little. But its a cleanser, cleansers arent going to clear acne by themselves.

Pros:

Quickly dries after applied.
No stickiness.
Light smell.
Noticeable results the next day.
Pretty cheap compared to prescription medications that leave your face dry, peeling, red and hurting the entire time you use it with no quick results.
Doesn't bleach your clothes!

Cons:

None!

It's a good buy! I'd recommend this to everyone with light to moderate acne. I've tried Terminator 10 spot treatment and it bleached the towel I dried my hands off with, my pillow cases and the sleeves of my night shirts. Clena and Clear is so much better and also it doesn't smell too chemically.

Pros:

Got rid of my pimples

Cons:

Drying if not using a good moisturizer but other than that, nothing much affected me badly.

I had moderate acne, and I kept breaking out. I tried this, and that and it didn't really help. I mean, it got rid of the pimples but they returned once again. One day, I stumbled upon this product during my quest on finding a good cleanser for my face since it was a complete war-zone during that particular week. I was hesitant, but decided to buy it anyways since I was that desperate. Long story short, it worked! Of course, the results didn't go BAM. It took a while. You'll probably notice results in a few weeks maybe? Didn't really keep track, but it worked for me! However, everyone is different. Don't think that this produce will instantly work for you since it worked for me. There's a possibility that using this will only make your acne worse. I think Benzoyl peroxide just worked for my face. Oh, and this lasted me for a month I think? So, it's totally worth a try if you think your face doesn't really work with gentler chemicals. I don't use this anymore because it totally got rid of all my acne. Of course, I still stumble on one from time to time but not anything drastic. I use whatever cleanser now, since this ran out on me and I never had moderate acne ever. I also partnered this up with Clean & Clear's moisturizer which is my favourite moisturizer along with aveeno's moisturizer. Let me just say, Aveeno's moisturizer got rid of the dryness. But, that's a whole different story. TL;DR? This definitely worked for me. Now, I just have to deal with the marks.

Pros:

Dries out pimples within a couple of days

Cons:

Sets your face on fire!!
Leaves acne scars
Peels off

After applying this to my pimples, my face stung horribly for several minutes. But, if you stick the pain out, it eventually goes away and the results are decent. I left it on for quite a while and when it dries it peels off so you have to wash your face again. This can be kind of hassle to get all the gunk off your face. The biggest con is it leaves an acne scar for almost every pimple "eliminated". But it does work pretty fast, and really dries out the pimples. This is an ok product if you're in desperate need of fast acne relief and willing to risk acne scars. Bottom line... it's only $7 and lasts a while, what more can you expect.

Pros:

-moisturizes!!!
-makes my skin oh so smooth
-helps maintain acne-free face
-fresh, tingly feeling

Cons:

-it makes me always want to touch my face because it's so soft...which is very, very bad. OH WELL!

This is by far the best moisturizer I've used for my skin. I have dry skin and get breakouts pretty much everywhere on my face. I've tried everything and this is the only one I've used that wasn't too heavy or greasy and left just the right amount of moisture. I love it. It isn't a quick fix but if you use it consistently you'll see a difference. I also recommend you use it in combination with other acne medicine because, like I said, it isn't a quick fix.

Pros:

-Affordable
-Absorbed into skin well
-Didn't leave a sticky or greasy feeling
-No smell

It's actually slowly helping with some systic acne I've had lingering for a while, and may or may not be helping to clear up some blackheads on my nose and chin. It LOOKS like there's less, but that may just be in my head.

Cons:

I normally put it on at night, but put it on during the day today under my powder foundation today, and within a few hours my face (nose especially) was very very shiny.

I honestly think it's better as a night moisturizer than a day one. Might be ok to use in the day during the winter though. Rated a 3, because I like what I've gotten out of it so far, but haven't used it long enough to rate anything higher.

Pros:

-Has a very clean scent
-Scrubby (optional scrubby bead things)
-Compared to other medicated OTC treatments, it's not *that* expensive.
-They recently changed the cap design so it's easier to get out of the bottle.
-GREAT spot treatment for neck/jawline!

Cons:

-It only seemed to work for about the first week then acne came right back. (my back acne is extremely persistent though)
-Not exactly inexpensive, but could be far worse.
-Was only effective on shoulders (or on neck/jaw as a leave-on spot treatment)
-Was not effective on lower back, 'bum cheeks' at all (results may vary)

At first I ran back to the store ASAP and bought 3 more bottles (as other people on here have said) but eventually it stopped controlling my back/body acne. Stopped using it but it seems to be a great, very safe treatment to try if you're having body acne issues. Didn't seem to damage my skin at all.

Pros:

Nothing!

Cons:

-Dries skin really bad (yes I used moisturizer)
-Causes more break outs
-Doesn't lighten the scars at all
-Waste of money

I really don't suggest buying it. It doesn't work at all.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
