Topical Keratolytic

Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

I love it! I have been using it for a week and my skin is now perfect! no blemishes at all :)

Cons:

it started to dry me out but instead of applying tons of moisturizer i bout the soft steam shower clean and clear stuff, i use it instead of the cleanser about 3 times a week. My skin feels and looks amazing.

Get it its great as long as you find a way to moisturize.

Pros:

Smells nice. Packaging is great, I love how it pumps. Easy to apply and wash off( you just need one pump).

Cons:

It may dry your face a little. Should be used only if you have moderately oily to oily skin.

Works great so far. I'll see how it goes.

Pros:

Cleared my skin, doesn't dry skin out!

Cons:

Cost, but common... all good acne stuff is pricey.

I used Proactiv the regular formula for almost two years, it SEVERELY dried me skin out so I stopped using it and began breaking out again. I heard about the Gentle formula and decided to give it a try... it is INCREDIBLE! It took about 2 weeks to clear my skin fully and since then I have only had one single break out - it keeps my skin really hydrated, and I like that the night lotion has a tingly zing to it, it kinda feels cool. So far this product has been the only thing where I didn't need another outside brand moisturizer.

Pros:

Great for acne and for dandruff caused by oily skin.

Cons:

Harder to find than it used to be.

I wouldn't have used it for thirty years if it hadn't worked for me and it my dermatologist hadn't agreed it was okay to use on my sensitive skin.

Pros:

light, controls acne, smells good

Cons:

It is not a moisturizer!!!

OK i love love love this stuff! But you have to know how to use it. It is not a moisturizer (or i wouldnt use it as one..) Put it all over your face at night, and it doesn't treat your acne, it prevents it. It works really well, and goes on smoothly and smells amazing!

Pros:

Help fades red acne marks in a few days, acne scars however, would take a few months. It also prevents acne. It does as advertised.

Cons:

Smells bad, but I won't die like the other users stated...

Don't expect a miracle but constant usage will help. Bought it at Super Target.

Pros:

Pros:

I have used the whole kit, and it has worked wonders, immediately he first day I could feel a difference in my skin, it was soft and over all felt clean.

Cons:

Cleanser burns a bit if you leave it on too long, and if so, it'll turn your face redish. But it is the same with Proactiv. Leave it on too long, it'll burn and irritate the skin.

I have had this product for over 2 weeks now, and have been using it daily, once in the morning, once at night. I love it. I did the test for the skinID thing online and, come to find out that the benzoyl peroxide + salycic acid, mix was a match for me. And that is the main ingredients for the ( Cheaper ) easier to acquire, Clean and Clear Advantage. So far, I am in love with it. It has helped clean my skin, make it softer, reduce the amount of pimples, white heads, etc on my face. And since I have started to use it, I have not broken out. I have yet to be able to put it to it's ultimate test though, as I break out worse during PMS, so I wish to see how well the whole system can fight away those. I have already told my Best Friend about this system and told he to try and acquire it as well.

Its really great as far as making a acne bump go away do time

it flakes on your skin sometimes and you would have to put water on your face to get it to look as if you didnt have it on.

I gave it 4 of 5 because I've had acne since i was 11(22 know) and it seems to work unlike Proactive which did quite the oppisite of what it promises .

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
