Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Refreshing, feels very light, doesn't make skin oily, helps dry skin, leaves skin soft, no scent, cooling sensation, doesn't clog pores, inexpensive, works well under makeup, comfortable, helps fight spots, sinks in skin, calms breakouts, you can feel it working, nice texture to it, very moisturising.

Cons:

None.

I use Clean & Clear Dual Action Oil-Free Moisturiser which is branded by the same name but given by some of the reviews I think it may be slightly different from the one I purchase in the UK, compared to the one you can purchase in the USA. It's genuinely the best moisturiser I've ever used and I will continue using it. Great for soothing acne and reducing spots as well as keeping skin healthy and soft!

Pros:

-Cleans Skin
-Face feels refreshed
-Clears acne

Cons:

-drys out skin/blemishes
-harsh exfoliater

its a great product it gives you a fresh clean face after using it! but it drys out your skin so i sujject a good moisterizer for sensitive skin ! since this product isn't a cleanser its an exfoliater using it for your regular skincare routine might be harsh for a acne prone skin. This is my oppinion because ive tried it and it cleared up all my acne then i stopped using it and started using other products because it stopped working on my skin. bottom line its worth it !

Pros:

The only thing that works for my adult and cystic acne!
Works instantly
No need to pick spots as new ones fade fast

Cons:

expensive but lasts
can cause acne acars if you pick, but there will be less picking to do! You can also mix with bio oil or sunscreen
Must wear sunscreen with this!!

I have adult and cystic acne after the pill and year of antibiotics to try and rid me of them. Nothing else worked long term until this. I thought it would stop working but a year later and Im clear. I get the odd spot which fades fast now. I apply this only in the morning then apply a sunscreen. On its own its really potent and can sting alittle. You can mix it with one drop of bio oil to dilute it too and it wont break you out. You skin may become sensitive to scraing so dont pick, cysts and whiteheads will fade so fast with this, just leave them, trust me. You have to try this I was suicidal before finding this

Pros:

- Gentle beyond comparison in the world of acne products, yet very effective.
- Plant-based, very soothing and calming to the skin.
- Aveda made this line with the first ever organically derived salicylic acid (from wintergreen).
- Boasts a really nice, non-synthetic aroma. This is HUGE. Synthetic aromas often aggravate acne, significantly.
- Made by the best of the best. Aveda has a rock-solid mission and products that do just what they claim.

Cons:

- May not 'cure' moderate to severe acne on its own. But in all fairness, we cannot expect the chemical potency often required in an effective acne treatment from Aveda - known for using functional botanical ingredients.
- $$$. A little on the expensive side (significantly more here in Canada), but WELL worth it. Be sure not to use excessive amounts - it's very concentrated.

This is a tried and true, premium system of products. I found it VASTLY beneficial combined with a topical prescription (clyndamycin/hydrogen peroxide gel). On its own, the topical prescription left my skin in rough shape. With Outer Peace, I noticed ZERO irritation and quicker results. Here are my comments on each product: 1. FOAMING CLEANSER: It's very easy not to use the cleanser effectively. You DO NOT need more than one or two pumps. You DO need to work it into a lather. Apply it onto your face rather than emulsifying it in your hands first. 2. ACNE RELIEF PADS: These can be cut in half and are just as effective. They should be gently applied to your skin, not scrubbed in. 3. ACNE SPOT RELIEF: If you want to cut the cost down even more, I would say this is the only product in the system that isn't essential to achieving results. 4. ACNE RELIEF LOTION: Balances moisture levels very well and gives your skin a healthy glow. 5. COOLING MASQUE: Some might skip out on this step, but honestly, NOTHING I've used works better at reducing inflammation. It will also last you quite a bit longer than the rest of the products, since you don't want to use it daily. Once weekly works well! If you can afford it, the facial Aveda offers in its spas can really supplement the results you'll see from the products.

Pros:

-Works fast
-Very easy to use
-Cheap
-Better than expensive treatments!

I used to have severe acne, so I went to a dermatologist. They gave me several $100-$200 dollar treatments, that helped a little, but my skin still wasn't great. I got monthly chemical peels. I tried proactive. I ate healthy and exercised. I did everything you could imagine. I was going away for a week, and the face cleansing kit I was using would spill in my bag, so I bought some of these to bring, as a filler. Immediately, my skin looked a little clearer. With continued use I now only get the occasional pimple. (:

Pros:

-reduces redness in less then 4 hours
-cheaper then other products
-helps from more acne from coming
-works better if you only use clean & clear products

Cons:

-stings for about 5 seconds (but that's how you know it works)
-may run out fast
-if you use makeup over the blemish let the product dry before use or else when you put the make up on it will rub off the makeup and product.

This product will work a lot better if you use clean and clear ONLY. This product works great! I use it everyday and it really helps. If it is combined with another product if may cause a redness that will go away in a day

Pros:

Amazing product, honestly saw results from day one. Every time I use it I'm surprised by how fresh and clean my skin looks and feels.
Exfoliating beads give really good results, especially on problem areas - for me the cheeks and chin.

Cons:

Genuinely can't think of any.

Would definitely recommend, and will definitely buy it again!

Pros:

- Fresh Scent
- Oil-free

Cons:

- As I continued to use it it became increasingly drying to my skin.
- Didn't reduce/clear acne
- Slightly irritating to the skin
- Skin kind of felt tight after each use

I've used this product over 2 months and in the beginning I really liked it since it had a really nice fresh scent and it wasn't drying like some of the other products that I've used in the past (I have dry skin), but since the beginning my skin was always left with a weird tight feeling..but I ignored it. As time past by this product became increasingly drying and my skin started to flake as usual. Also I noticed that it wasn't helping my acne at all and it started to irritate my face. Personally, I don't really recommend this product, but this MY experience and this could probably work for someone else. Good Luck!

Cons:

It didn't clear up my acne
Made my face oilyer
Caused my face to be a bit worse

It wasn't the best product for me. It worked for a while than i started to get more small bumps. Then when i didn't use it for one night i grew like 5 bumps.

Pros:

Destroyed my acne
Clean feeling afterward

Cons:

This stuff probably is drying my face out big time.

But my acne is gone. I'm not complaining. I bought this stuff on a whim. I never really tried anything else. All I can say is that it's been clearing up my face since about a week and a half of use. Other online reviews rate this stuff almost hazardous; it's miracle-esque for me. Johnson & Johnson is a name I can trust. Lol.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
