Topical Keratolytic
Acne.org’s Real World Take
Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

cleans face, controls oil

Cons:

Sometimes it slightly burns, but thats about it

I use these 3 pads all over my face at night, and one pad all over my face in the morning after i shower. They do a great job of cleaning your face of dirt and excess oils. I used to have pretty moderate acne, but now its all visibly gone! My problem was that my face was constantly oily, esp at night when i slept, and now it is pretty much completely clear. I just use these pads and water to wash my face once at night and in the morning for my entire regimen. Good for people with moderate to light acne.

Pros:

It cleared some minor areas, Try it for yourself. You may have a different skin type than me.

Cons:

NOT FAST RESULTS. it takes foreverrrr but eventually i saw a clearing. (I MEAN COME ON, I HAVE THE TIME to go on here and type all of this)...
for your benefit
BTW: (by the way) i dont sell this product at all. I ordered it thgouh a friend.

I wanted to believe that it worked because i was just desperate. Im 16 and have always wanted to get a makeover and have clear skin to arrive to school. When i bought it, it didnt work at first. i thought it was going to get worse b4 it got better. Like, work inside then out. I believe that it worked a little for me. It didnt clear up my whole face but it did work on some areas. I dont know maybe it just works on some skin types. I used it for over a time of about a month and a half. I dont see big results. Although my acne is not that severe like others, I still would like perfect, clear skin. When it was on its way in the mail i looked up the reviews to see if it would really work and i was happy and yet dissapointed to see many of the reviews. But I thought to myself. Maybe it will just work for me. Today, i have stopped using the products. I dont take the pills anymore or use any of them. Once in a while i use the acne wash. My face has cleared in general, but

Pros:

Smells good, does work on clearing up acne. All in all just a good product.

Cons:

It does take alittle more than three days to react well with you skin.

Ok, this product does clear acne and keeps everything oil free. But You can not expect something like this to work in just three days. In my experience, I have used just about all the acne products out there and nothing has worked as well. If you use so many products like me, you need to give it time to set in. WOULD RECOMEND IT

Pros:

It did not irritate my skin.

Cons:

It doesn't live up to its "blackhead clearing" name plus those microbeads tend to remain long after face washing. It's like they pop up out of nowhere!

Don't try it. It does not work.

Pros:

None Readlly.

Cons:

Made skin oily and red.
More break outs.

Didn't help out at all it actually made things worst and i started to break out way more than i already had. I really tried to like it but didnt work out for me.
May 27, 2007

Pros:

Normally when my cycle comes around< I tend to break out. While using this product one new pimple tried to appear within a few days it went a way (very impressing). It keeps my skin controllable, product smells good & it's lite on my skin.

Cons:

The price could be a little better ($14.95 is more reasonable). The facial wash could be a little richer (thicker). The moisturizer could be less greasy looking (if u wanted to know where in the daytime/so it would be less noticable.

Overall this is the best thing for me until I find something better.
May 15, 2007

Pros:

Totally reduced redness, which means visiblilty, in 4 hours.

Cons:

Stung after using twice in one day.

If you feel a pimple emerging or have a brand new one, this is what to use. Put some on and the redness vanishes and use it twice a day for the emerging ones and they won't emerge. Really helped me before school.

I have several post acne marks that are very dark. After only the first time I used this product, I noticed significant improvement in the appearance of the spots. After my first week, my face looked so much better. The product only needs to be used 2-3 times per week. It left my skin feeling very soft and smooth.
May 10, 2007

Pros:

kind of helps it go away quicker.

Cons:

dries out your face very, very easily.

If you are going to use this product, all you need is a very tiny dab of it. If you put on too much on sensitive skin like I did, it is going to be a nightmare. This product ended up giving me a chemical burn on my face, and it took months for it to clear up, as it became very prone to breakouts in that one spot.

Pros:

Gets rid of acne.

Cons:

Nothing at all

Great product. Have been using for about 1 month and it prevents my breakouts.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
