Patients is a virtue
I've waited 3 months before making this review. 5 years of finding, trying and giving up on methods to fix my skin after 5 years of struggles when I got off BC, I've learned that you really must be patient with this one. What drew me to this product was that you dont NEED the product, you need the regimen, so I didnt feel like I was being sold. I ordered this piece online because you can't find it in stores, along with the complex 15 moisturizer. In the mean time I went and bought the Neutrogena spot treatment because I was anxious after reading and watching so many success stories. I started using johnson & johnsons baby wash (soon after switched to Aveeno because I didnt want SLS) the Benzoyl peroxide, and jojoba oil alone until I got the Complex 15 moisturize (AMAZING) in the mail. I had to really stick it out through the dry stages, and I still get dry patches when I feel a break out coming on and I lather on the BP real thick, but its bearable. I use scotch tape to pull of the dry skin, & it doesnt bother it at all. 3 months have passed and I still get the typical PMS flare up, but it's so minor I dont even care. My friends have actually finally been saying my skin looks good and ask what I'm doing. Being 26 I'm just relieved! I never thought I'd see that day. All I wear now is a light powder (body shop's All in One), but I'm finally ok with being without make up again. So many take for granted their skin, struggling with acne was a burden on my life so I feel for everyone searching for help. This works, just be kind to your skin!

It really works!
So let me start out by saying that my acne is not that bad. I have occasional pimples, usually during that time of the month and a few whiteheads that are barely noticeable. The first time I used this stuff it worked great, but step 3 really dried out my skin (I have dry skin). I usually just used step 1, once a day and it worked wonders, my skin was perfectly clear. When I ran out, I didn't go buy more I just started using other face soap that I had laying around. My skin started to get worse and worse, I finally went to walmart and bought the kit again and within in 3 days my skin is pretty much clear! I have been using step 2 and step, but I will probably stop once my skin starts to dry out (which is what I did last time) and just use step 1. My only complaint is that it does burn, and the smell is pretty bad, but I would rather put up with that than have bad skin! Sometime my skin does itch, not too sure why. I also use the terminator and that stuff is great as well. I would recommend this product!

Great intro to a great product line
I wanted to give the acne.org line a try because there were so many positive reviews on YouTube. I have been a lurker of this product line for years! When I saw the $5 offer for this travel size kit, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did - I have never seen such quick results with a product line, and I've tried everything from ProActiv to Murad. I went 3 days without a breakout! That has never happened and I just turned 33 yesterday; I have been dealing with acne since I was 16 years old. I got one pimple on my forehead yesterday, but it is dying a quick death. I am using Retin-A gel 3 nights a week so that one pimple purge may be the result of that or it could be the hair oil I put in my hair. The rest of my face looks beautiful!! I'm super excited and it has only been 5 days. I can't wait to see what my skin looks like in the next few weeks :)

Did nothing but dry skin out.
I could not wear makeup while using this. Even with moisturizer, my skin would feel so tight and flake most of the day. After a week, not one pimple was gone.

Takes a While, but Works!
I started using this about five months ago. It is just now consistently working. My skin is completely clear now, which is something I haven't been able to say for years - hallelujah! I had moderate acne, and always had at the very least a few pimples. I've tried everything from dieting, to over the counter products, to prescriptions, to birth control, to natural products, all to no avail. This has been a God-send, but I sure hope it keeps working! It's worth noting that my skin never got worse, it slowly but surely continued to get better. I did experience some dry skin/redness/flaking, but that was nothing compared to the horror of acne. By the way, I'm African American, Native American, and Irish; with combination, sensitive skin; and am 29 years old. Bottom line: Give it a go and stick with it!

not too good

Pros:

works on some people

Cons:

leaves skin very dry and flakey
inconvenient usage (3 times a day)
had absolutly no effect on me

I've developed my acne problem about 7 months ago just after I turned 16. I went on 10% benzyl peroxide 5%antibiotic for 3 months and literally nothing happened. I had about 1 good day each month and then my acne would just flair up again. Also, my skin (especially around my mouth) was extremely dry and flakey for the entire 3 months I was on it for, this obviously took some doing because I normally have very oily skin. Saying that, my friend was prescribed exactly the same thing as me and after 3 months her acne was completely gone. It must just work on certain people and not others.

Works great unless you skip
The longer you use this product (steps 1,2,3, AHA+), the better your complexion gets. I've been using it for about 10 months and my skin is perfectly clear very often. When I skip treatments, my results start to diminish. -This product will work 100% if you do everything it says 100% -This is the best treatment I have found so far. I have tried prescription and 1 OTC brand but The Regimen by Acne.org works the best. -I am 16 years old. I am male. I sweat a lot on a weekly basis.

Cleanser - GREAT! Treatment - WORKS! Moisturizer - A FLOP !:(... I recommend but pick and choose

Pros:

CLEANSER WORKS
TREATMENT WORKS

Cons:

BP - a bit drying but thats how it works.
only available online - shipping costs a bit pricey

40's, Asian. Ive always followed a very simple maintenance routine which ive used for over 25 years (oatmeal soap, deep cleanser, toner, dermalite (day), Vit C serum (night)..... until 12 mos ago, I started having (stress) acne. Tried a LOT of products (US, Asia, European brands). Came across acne.org, and bought the regimen. I followed regimen procedure but was not effective so i modified. CLEANSER: IT WORKS (for me). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Evening: Wet face with warm water. 1 pump (size of a dollop) on my palm, apply directly on problem areas, then work out a lather. I do this for about 60 seconds. Repeat. (so im soaping my face twice) Pat dry (sometimes is "scrub" a tiny just to get a feeling of "freshness") Morning: Same as evening routine but only wash once. BENZOYL PEROXIDE TREATMENT. If i have active acne (or feel like one is coming on), I use Acne.org TREATMENT benzoyl (ONLY ON AFFECTED AREAS) , after allowing my face to dry 5 minutes. If no active acne, after pat dry, APPLY AURA CACIA GRAPESEED OIL all over my face. MOISTURIZER. Causes BREAKOUTS!! - would NOT recommend. JOJOBA OIL - breakouts With CLEANSER, BP TREATMENT (only if acne onset), GRAPESEED OIL, my skin has "calmed" down... zits dry.... KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Worst Acne Product I've tried
I only tried this because I can't seem to find my usual product anywhere, and when I was visiting my father I found a brand new unopened kit, and his wife said I could keep it. As it didn't cost me anything I decided to try it. Well, turns out, it only makes my acne worse. I've dried different products over the years, some worked better than others, some didn't even work at all, but I've never had a product before that made my acne worse.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
