Pros:

Fades blemishes and dark spots left behind after a pimple in addition to help clear acne. Also makes skin look healthier and younger over all.

Cons:

Doesn't completely rid face from pimples.

I am 35 and have light acne on my chin and ocasionally elseware. For me this is a good product. I could see where it may not be for everyone. But I definately ssee an extreme difference in my skin overall. My skin looks like it did in the my mid 20's and this produsct really reduces the redness and dark spots from acne. You barely notice that I have acne anymore!

Pros:

Really improves the quality of your skin. My face felt very clean and smooth after use. I had moderate acne but have only had a few small pimples since I started using it (2 months). It is available in stores and often includes bonus products.

Cons:

Expensive, not a miracle cure, I still breakout occasionally. It is hard to get all of the product out of the bottles (akward packaging). Should offer larger quantities of the products.

I liked this product and have had good results with it so far.

Pros:

Helped clear up my acne, easy to use.

Cons:

Made my skin very dry for the first week.

I wasnt expecting much when I ordered proactiv- Just basically expecting to make good use of their 60day money back guarantee. For the first week I hated it. My skin was dry and flaky& I got 5 HUGE pimples, hurt (and felt) like blind pimples but I could pop them.. I was horrified. However what I did was reduce the amount that I was using - with the cleanser I rubbed it over my face GENTLY, I have a feeling I was so used to foaming cleansers I just automatically rubbed hard when i first started. I also reduced the amt of reparing lotion I was using to about the size of two peas. I have also started using a face mask I read about on Dans message board(egg white and lemon-do a search! it really works!) and after about 3 weeks my skin was near perfect. I have never had such great skin since I was about 11 years old-I'm now 21. For the price - I don't see why people say it's so expensive, I once bought Leaf and Rusher cleanser for $60! I recommend it if youve tri

Pros:

I noticed instant results. Within two days my skin was noticably clearer, and it helps prevent new breakouts.

Cons:

Very strong, and can be drying if you dont use a moisterizer. I just put on moisterizer after I use it and I am fine.

this is a great product. i highly recommend it.

Pros:

It has worked amazingly for minor breakouts I've had.

Cons:

It hasn't worked as well for moderate breakouts I've had.

This can work really well, but it's not the answer to everything. I used this for a minor acne breakout I had a few years ago and it was the only thing that worked. However, I had the worst breakout of my life on my chin and above my lips for the past two months, and this did not heal it. I had to use other methods which were dramatically better. It's possible that the reason it worked for me once really well and not the second time, could be different factors at play, concerning stress and environment.

Pros:

cheap,easy to take/put on !

Cons:

seems to make skin a lil dry.

I have had pretty bad acne for about two years now and i have used everything from clean and clear to proactiv witch is no help.I have just started useing this acne treatment today so im not sure how it will work just yet, but from what i hear it works pretty good. people have told me that it is best to CHEW the pill up and then drink it down with WATER.i have only been using the product for 1 day but it already seems to make my skin a lil bit dry so if anyone can recomend a loction for me to use i would love that!!wish me luck and good luck to everyone tying to clear your acne up too !

Pros:

I really like everything about this product it works well. I like the fragrance, and especially the feel of the cleanser, how it exfoliates while cleansing. It's great!!!!!!!

Cons:

i don't know that there are any cons! Maybe that you have to order it and can't just buy it anywhere but it has not been a problem.

You have to use the products for longer than a few weeks to be able to tell a difference. And it will be drying if you don't use a moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. Give it a chance to do it's job and it works wonders, my skin is wonderful after having to kids and trying other products that didn't work!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
