Pros:

It goes on smooth- aborbs fairly well but dries quickly. Its great for prevention (if your skin is clear), and for controlling (if you have tiny, barely noticeable zits)- it usually clears up small break outs in a day or 2.

Cons:

If you have a massive, pussy zit already erupting- it doesn't appear to have much impact on it; and tends to make the area immediately around the irritated area dry and flaky.

I actually discovered this a few years ago and always recommend it to friends. Its such a tiny tube and is pricey depending on where you buy it- ranging from $6-$9... A tube can usually last me about 6 months. But I haven't used it as part of Dan's Regimen- his method would surely cause you to go through it a lot faster. But it really is good for prevention, so I would recommend it if your in the prevention phase of the Regimen- thus making it worth the expense.

Best BP on the market, hands down.

None

Get this, follow the Regimen, and get rid of acne!

Pros:

Skin was clear and glowing

Cons:

BUT was not a permanent improvement nor was it strong enough to battle pms break outs

Good only if you have very very mild acne. Not recommended for severe cystic acne. Too expensive for the entire kit!

Pros:

works for a great price

Cons:

one week it left my face very dry

this is a good product. when my face dried out, i stop usising it for about a week. I've started using it again and it doesn't dry out anymore. *note: i'm talking about the facial scrub. I've used the body wash and it works great too.

Pros:

Refining mask really tightens face, resulting of less shine/oil

Cons:

Dry skin around hairline, extended use has caused breakout of cheeks (more pimples than I had to begin with/rash), because of fair skin- blood vessels now visible around nostrils after use (confirmed by derma), CSRs EXTREMELY rude

Because it's removing oil, this product seems to make skin appear more aged. Acne prevention only seems to work for a short period of time. Working in the same field, their customer service is very poor/seems they lack knowledge of the product- hate the upsells. Wouldn't recommend this product unless acne is SEVERE. See a dermatologist instead.

Pros:

It clears off my acne! I've tried going to a dermatologist a few times but got tired of it. This clears off the acne, as what it's supposed to do.

Cons:

It made my skin really, and I mean really very dry.
I can see the skin peeling off and white flakes coming off my skin.
Also, the itches! Argh! Sometimes it prevents me from sleeping cause it itches too much!

If you are really tired of your acne, use it. Use it with caution though, cause your skin WILL get very dry and itchy.

Pros:

Clears up acne

Cons:

Time consuming

During the past 4 years, I've been to 3 dermatologist and Proactiv beats all the products they gave me. When used CONSISTENTLY, the system keeps my face clear of acne and has improved the texture of my skin that was damaged by acne scars.

Pros:

The secret to clear skin. It does what Dan says it will... it helps to clear up and control your acne.

Cons:

Wished I had found the info and products sooner.

The regimen clears up acne! And for me, the BP treatment is the key to clearing up acne. Use whatever cleanser and moisturizer that works best for you. Dan offers an effective-and gentle-cleanser and moisturizer, but other brands may work just as well for you. I struggled for years with severe acne throughout my teenage years and early 20s, and then I found Accutane. Even though Accutane helped reduce my level of acne, I still had bad breakouts several times a month. I tried dozens of products without success. Then I found acne.org. The information and high-quality products offered here are the best. Thank you!

Pros:

smells good and feels like it is really getting my skin clean....maybe too clean.

Cons:

waaaayyy too strong for my sesitive skin. i'ver been using it for 3 weeks. in the begining it started to clear my skin but now and my face is worse than when i started. i am now trying to use it only every other day to see if it helps.

its good if you dont have sensitive skin and i can see how it might be good if you do have sensitive skin but are able to find a balance of using it that doesnt irritate your skin. however, if you can find something else you would probably be better off getting something specially made for sensitive skin. i am only continuing to try and find a balance because i bought 2 boxes on sale and hate it when things go to waste.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
