Pros:

It cleared up some of my acne.

Cons:

It was too costly for my budget and my acne didn't go away completely like the people on the commercials. There was still some there but not as much.

CONS CONTINUED: There must be some kind of chemicals in the product that my skin was used to because when I stopped using it, MY SKIN GOT WORSE THAN IT EVER GOT IN MY LIFE! AND NOW I'M DYING TO FIND A CURE FOR ACNE! I DON'T WANT TO TAKE DANGEROUS PILLS I HERE ABOUT BECAUSE OF THEIR SIDE EFFECTS AND FACE CLEANSERS LEAVE YOUR SKIN HOOKED! THIS IS VERY DEPRESSING BECAUSE I HAVE TO WEAR MAKE-UP FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE UNTIL SOMEONE FINDS A CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

Works unbelievably fast, easy to use, inexpensive

Cons:

A little drying

I have really oily (and sometimes sensitive) skin and have had acne since 6th grade. I have used everything on the market to get rid of the bumps and nothing seemed to help. I had never heard of Panoxyl before, but saw it at Walgreens and thought I'd give it a try. I have been using it for two days now and my skin looks and feels better already! My skin isn't as oily and my acne seems less red and a lot less painful. I did get a little tightening of the skin around my nose and corners of my mouth, but I have this great green tea and aloe moisturizer that I used and it went away pretty fast. I bought the 5% this time, but I might try the 10% when this is gone. I'm really glad I found Panoxyl and can't wait to see how great my skin looks after more use.

Pros:

The only system that has ever worked consistantly. Clears my skin, moisturizes, minimizes pores, and my skin really does "glow".

Cons:

The price can be a bit startling, but I compare it to how much money I've wasted on things that don't work. It is WORTH it.

I love ProActiv, but I know many people who do not agree. The bottom line is you have to find something that works for YOU. I can't use Salicylic Acid and too much benzyol peroxide overdries my skin, but ProActiv only has 2.5% (Clean & Clear is 10%) My skin feels and looks AMAZING while using ProActiv.

Pros:

Vegan, no animal products are used (like animal fat), all natural ingredients

Cons:

BP bleaches more than any other product I've used, so beware.

This stuff is AMAZING! I'm a teen that's suffered with acne ever since 6th grade. I'm now almost 18 and still was suffering from it. Now, a month since I've been using this, my complexion has never been better! I LOVE the smell of this stuff (invigorating natural lavender and other mixed scents), and it just makes your skin feel great. It has definitely reduced my oil production, now that it's more balanced and my skin is nice and smooth. My red marks are fading as well. The guy who runs this business puts all cost toward QUALITY ingredients with his humble business. You can try it for a no time limit guarantee, and you will be refunded for the product plus shipping charges if it doesn't work...that's how sure they are it will work for you if you give it a chance!

Pros:

I put it on in the morning before school, and at night before I sleep, and it clears up any small pimple I get in about 5 days.

Cons:

It's lotion like, so it seems like it would be oily.

It's a great product.

Pros:

Dried up pimples, cut down on oiliness, cleared my face right away!

Cons:

I too experienced some bleaching of wash clothes, and it does cause a little more dryness and irritation but an oil free moisturizer will balance that out.

I have struggled with acne for over 15 years. I've even experienced systic acne. I was on accutane, differin, everything prescribable, the lastest was benzaclin. It was pricey, so I reseached products with the same benzoyl peroxide content and came across Panoxyl. Panoxyl has worked better than anything I've ever tried and I now have clear skin!

Pros:

Worked perfectly for the first year. My skin remained consistently clear.

Cons:

I felt that the pills lost their effectiveness after a while, though I do believe they worked in the beginning.

I went to a dermatologist for my acne when I was in my early 20s. The doctor gave me prescription quality medication that cleared my skin up to a level I hadn't seen since before puberty. Sadly, a few months after the prescriptions ended, the acne slowly started coming back. I tried Nature's Cure and after 3 months I was back to clear skin. For the first year I had nearly no breakouts, but afterward the would come occasionally. When they did, I applied the cream and it cleared up the pimples in a day or two. Now I don't take the pills any longer and only use the cream to treat pimples as they come, but my complexion is now the best that I ever remember it being. Remember, everyone's skin is different. Just because it works for some doesn't mean it will react the same to your body. Still, with a low price this one is worth trying for a few months.

Pros:

Half way works.

Cons:

Time consuming if done properly. Can no longer go tanning - completely dries out my face after 1 session. For those who say it smells good -- your crazy -- this stuff smells like butt!

When I became pregnant with my daughter my hormones decided to screw with me. Instead of having that "pregnancy glow" my face, neck, shoulders, back ... everything... turned into a giant acne pizza. I had never suffered from acne before ... it was so gross. Pregnancy is suppose to be the most exciting time in a woman's life ... it was my most embarassing. I tried everything while I was pregnant, pro-activ included ... nothing worked. I finally realized that it was my hormones and there was nothing I could do about it until I popped that kid out! =) About a week after I had my daughter I decided to give proactiv another try. It worked for a few weeks and then I broke out again, really bad... but I stuck with it, and now I have clear skin. I get one small zit every few months, but that's about it ... and usually it's due to stress. Just remember - those are PAID ACTORS in the commercials. Your skin will NEVER look like theirs. Ever. Those people have been airbrushed.

Pros:

works quickly.

Cons:

pricey and I don't use all of the three steps. I only like the bp lotion because it glides on so easily and works for the first year. And then my skin got so dried out to a point where I can't even wear foundation any more!

I would recommend this to people, but I just ask them to see for themselves.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
