Pros:

Clears-up acne fast, scentless, non-greasy, non-flaking, cheap

I use the treatment 2-3 times a day and I love it! After my favorite BP product was discontinued, I thought I'd have to live through the rest of my twenties with random breakouts. I've been using this for a year now and it's a miracle worker. I hope it never goes away! I used to have light acne, but I couldn't do without it. Remember to use a moisturizer right after using this, especially one with a sunblock.

Pros:

better and cheaper than proactiv

Cons:

kept my acne from getting a lot worse but didn't help ever really get rid of it.

After a disasterous time with proactiv I used this and it worked better and made it so i didnt have huge painful pimples but im still on the hunt for something that will get rid of all the smaller ones I still constantly get.

Pros:

did not cause breakouts in areas i normally do not breakout
not too drying (doesn't burn or tingle)

Cons:

somewhat drying
still had breakouts
still had some large pimples

I used this product for a while and I get my usually breakouts on my forehead and t-zone. I wanted to try something else though to get rid of that acne and have been using GM Collin acne complex kit for about 2 weeks, so far it seems to be causing a slight breakout on my cheeks where I normally get no acne, so I may go back to using this Neutrogena System. I believe there's a chance it will work well for many people so I would reccomend it. It did not cause much irritation or any sort of severe breakout on my moderate acne prone skin. I may stick to this product if the new kit doesn't give me better results within a month or causes too much new acne (which I believe may be my skin clearing). The GM Collin was reccomended by my ethnetiscian and is $50 for much smaller bottles where this kit was larger bottle for $20. I'm hoping the new kit works better after a few weeks but I guess more expensive cleansers aren't necessarily better, but we will see. I would definatly not warn anyone to not try this Neutrogena kit, it works well but did not clear my skin enough for me to not want to try other products, but if you're considering trying this kit I would say go for it and see how it effects you for a month or so.

Pros:

The mask works well as a spot treatment on stubborn pimples

Cons:

Price
Smell
Irritating
Drying
Made Acne worse

I tired the proactive soution and was a faithful cutomer for over a year, and it works...at first, then my acne came back worse than ever! When I started it, I would classify my acne as mild, but by the end it was moderately severe, and covered my entire face. Thank goodness I got off proactive and found this site. Since I left proactive, and started the regimen my skin has dramatically cleared. Save your self the time, and the money I wasted, and start off on the right foot with the regimen.

Pros:

Clear skin
No new pimples
Reduced redness
Saw fast results
Effective

Cons:

2 different types of cleansers???
Somewhat costly
Moisturizer sometimes harsh

I have been using this product since October now and my skin has not had a bad breakout since. A couple pimples but I believe it is from 2 different cleansers. One of them seemed to be like a more gel-like substance and the other a more white liquid. The gel one was very effective and was the better one I believe. The white liquid seemed to be good but after about a week I found that it the cleanser seemed to stick together and you get a bunch if little particles for some reason. I bought the same system and read all the ingredients but there was no difference. If anybody could help out with that then thank you. Bottom line I love this product and will not stop using it.

Pros:

Cleared up SOME acne temporarily.

Cons:

Acne came back after 2 weeks.
Very drying.
Can bleach clothing.

This worked well for a few weeks but then I ended up getting bigger and extremely sore spots. Dried out my skin and no amount of moisturiser could cure it! Might work for other people but did nothing for me. I'd recommend using lemon juice instead.

Pros:

Clears Acne Very Well!
Doesn't over dry (Acnefree Sensitive*)
Works quick

Cons:

Cannot Buy products separately

I used acne free sensitive (I have combination skin). I've had horrible acne for 2 years and everything I got from the dermatologist would ruin my skin because it was always too harsh. I tried this stuff and the next day I wanted to write a review because I woke up and my skin was less red and felt clean. But I waited, so it's been a month and I have no acne. I stopped wearing foundation because I don't need it anymore, it's the greatest feeling ever!

Pros:

First and only product that has consistently been able to control my acne (which I have had for almost 20 years)/ My skin looks good and feels soft.

Cons:

None other than it may bleach your clothes if you are not careful whre you put the used washcloth...

Love the skincare range including the moisturisers. I have been using Carlys productes for 2 years now and while my skin is not perfect it is better than it has been with ANY other product including very expnsive ones.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
