I started getting breakouts around 9 where my headgear was (tae kwon do) so my forehead and jawline. Over the years it stuck around but wasn't anything too bad. Around 19 besides the occasional breakout during the monthly lady visit my skin was pretty clear. After the birth of my first child recently my skin went bizerk! It went from ' normal' to oily. since my skin type changed my makeup had to as well. my breakouts were mild until I used MAC foundation,my skin broke out so bad. I stopped using that makeup and cleaned my brushes several times and switched to, organic makeup. I tried several home remedies but nothing helped at all. Its been 7 months and the breakouts just don't stop. The differ from the really tiny bumps to the big inflamed painful ones. Its not severe, but still embarrassing. I picked this up 2 days ago and use it as recommended. Its not a miracle product and I know it'll take patience until I Get clear skin, but do far the results are mild but still results. I can already see its drying out the acne. I haven't had a problem so far with dryness/flaking if my skin but maybe thats because my skin is oily. I apply it to my whole face and not just the problem areas though. It does say be careful with sun exposure so I apply sunscreen if i'm going outside. I'm not sure how it holds up under makeup though. I want my skin to breathe and heal so i'm going bare lol. All in all do far I like this product and am excited / hopeful for further results. Wish, me luck!

Pros:

*Very fast working
*True Results in a couple of Days
*Cheap

Cons:

*Powerful 10% BPeroxide can dry and irritate skin if used too frequently.

I have tried every retinA cream out there and none of them worked or were even close to the ClearZit cream and the results I have obtained from it. Accutane did help me, but acne returned, although not as bad as it was before the Accutane, I now use the ClearZit as a maintenance cream. Make sure that you start off with one application once a day or at least every other day. Only use a pea sized amount for each area. It may not seem like enough cream at first but this cream is 10% BP and incredibly powerful. If used in this way the dry skin and irritation caused is very minimal.

Pros:

good for spot treatment
works fast

Cons:

leaves a white residue
dries out skin
doesnt get rid of acne 100%

i purchased this product when i was 14, but only the facial wash and it didnt so anything in the first week so i stopped. a few years later i picked it back up cause i started to breakout really badly across my cheeks and forehead mainly. they werent cystic just bumps and pimples. so i went and brought the wash and the loation and decided to stick with it for longer than a week religiously, it actually works! you need to stick at it though and after the first week you peel like mad! but after that you should start seeing results. however (yes there is always a bottom line) it doesnt get rid of cystic acne from appearing i still get a few really hard pimples on my forehead and stuff that never seem to go away jdfbgaejbgrerw but i suppose that is just hormonal. aside from that it cleared up my pimples great i would recommend this product to anyone struggling with any type of acen :) BUT REMEMBER TO STICK WITH IT AND EITHER WAY YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL <3

Pros:

-works like it says
-results in 24 hours
-easy to use
-great quick fix

Cons:

- chemicals
- whitens fabrics
- pricey
- doesn't get to root of the problem
-will not help in long term

-used this in the past and didn't work. usually topical chemical don't work for me unless i am eating somewhat healthy -had great skin for a while by taking care of my body but in the past couple months i been eating lots of fast food, decreasing water, etc and well had ugly nasty breakout. Used this and within 24 hours it was controlled -i don't have a cleansing routine, dont need one when taking care of body, but i am gonna stick with this till i can get back to loving my body and staying consistent with healthy diet and exercise. Its a great short term temporary fix. pretty sure like proactive (used in past for months) it works till your skin gets used to it, then all hell breaks lose...

Pros:

Completely clear skin

Cons:

Skin was very dry at first, but after around three weeks, it was not as dry. I use jojoba oil with my daily moisturizer and never have a problem anymore!

This is the best product I have ever used. I have had acne since sixth grade and used things such as differin, epiduo, duac, oral antibiotics, accutane,... the list goes on. After going on accutane, my skin was a lot better but slowly my acne came back. It was not as bad but it was still annoying. Finally I stumbled across this website and decided to order the products. The first few weeks are definitely hard but i'm glad other reviews convinced me to stick with it. After six months on the regime, I get a small pimple or two a month and they go away super quickly. This product has changed my life and I can't thank him enough for creating this regime.

Pros:

I have been using this product for about fourteen months now, and cannot live without it. I am 28 years old, and have had severe acne since I was 12 years old. I have tried everything and this has been the one thing that has worked. I follow Dan's skin care plan using Purpose cleanser, the Treatment, and Cetaphil Mosturizer. I never thought it could be as simple as this, but it is (and cheap- well, much cheaper than all of the things I have tried).

Buy this product, and follow Dan's skin care plan. I now feel comfortable for the first time in my life to go without cosmetics.

Pros:

dries quickly
stays on all night

Cons:

burns a little
leaves redmarks ( Which peel in a couple of days)

i have terrible acne that comes and goes sometimes its worse then others and sometimes i only have it on one side of my face, This product is not an magic eraser it takes a couple of uses depending on how inflammed your pimple is. I have very super sensitive skin and when i apply to much it can irritate and leave red skin spots. I've learned that you literally only need a dab to make a difference DONT use more then a dab, the bottle is small for a reason you dont need to be excessive when applying. Dont let your skin get addicted to the BP although its a great minute relief, your body will get use to it and you will break out more because it will depend on it! Trust me i've done Proactiv and Accutane and i still suffer with acne, it runs in the family and it can be quite depressing, today will be that day for me which is why i decided to write this review. Oh and my skin loves mosturizer! i would die without mine but i have found that applying that first before spot treating helps with the irrating and the BP i not spreading around! I hope this helps! Keep ur chin up, acne is not the end of the world....I know im being hyprocitical but beauty relies with in! :) Happy person makes happy skin!

Pros:

Controlled breakouts once they happened

Cons:

Didn't stop breakouts
Never fully cleared up skin

Proactiv is a decent product, but it's overpriced and definitely overhyped. My results from it were a bit of a mixed bag. When I did breakout badly, by using the product I was able to get it under control within 3-4 days. The problem was tho, that next week I would break out again. It never did a decent job actually stopping, or even slowing breakouts. Plus, altho it did make my skin a little clearer over the two months I used it, my skin never fully cleared up. It only works so well, but at some point my skin stopped improving and just maintained.

Pros:

Really Works! Clears and softens skin.

Cons:

will leave skin dry, but can fix with other clinque products.

This stuff is FABULOUS!. I developed acne after having my first child at 23 and it got worse when I had my second at 25. I have tried Proactive, Dr. Murads, Nuetragena, and everything else the world offers. Like other I was skeptical, but the lady at Sephora said to try the 30 day and I could bring it back if I didnt like it. I am glad I did, because this is the clearest my skin has been in years. I did notice the drying so I stopped and talked with one of the reps at Dillards and she had me try the #2 lotion (its yellow). I use that everymorning under my makeup and only put it on my neck at night. She also told me about the acne spot treatment. You put a tiny dot on a Qtip and put it on any zits you feel are about to appear and it zaps 99% of them away. I was so happy with these I went and got the dark spot correcting serum for my scars and "historical acne" marks, this stuff is great too! I have been using that for the last 3 weeks and my husband asked me the other day what I was using, because I looked like the old me without any makeup on. Needless to say I am now a clinque girl! It has completely cleared my acne and my completion is smoothing out with the Even Better formula!. I recommend this to anyone with acne issue. Its definitely worth a try and most places will take it back if it doesnt work out for you.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
