Pros:

after all the stuff i use it definitely leaves my face feeling clean.

Cons:

dried up my skin, gave me a rash on my neck from the face wash, instead of getting rid of acne it seemed to increase it. it smells really bad, the whole procedure is too long and strict, too expensive, little repair lotion, face stinks like sulfur.

i bought proactive, because i had mild acne....didnt see result til a couple of weeks of using it and the results only lasted for 1 day because then it just started getting worst, where before i only had 3 pimples now i have like 15, and cauz the product dries them up really bad it leaves blemishes. i've been using it for about a month, thinking it would eventually get better, but it keeps getting worst, i have never had my skin feeling and looking so horrible. after reading all this reviews i will definitely stop using it.

Pros:

Rids blackheads quickly. Not overdrying. Didn't bleach clothing, bedding, or towels. Skin is smoother.

Cons:

Worsened acne.

I'm very happy that my blackheads are gone and that my skin is softer and smoother, but the acne around my mouth and on my chin has gotten considerably worse. I was developing a zit every few days. Now I'm waking up to pimples every morning. It's even more embarrassing than before.

Pros:

Works well with my acne . I saw results in a week but I had really bad acne so thats a plus. give it a try.

Cons:

The last step makes my face oily but nothing serious it dries up after a bit.

Its great ive been using it since I was 12 and I had major acne problems but now my face is better than ever and the only problem now is the left over scars. I recommend it. I did use proactive but it only made my acne worse. try it.

Pros:

It was free through the Clinique/alloy beauty boot camp

Cons:

I just started using it yesterday and I already had a very red itchy rash on my neck and cheeks. I had a party to go to today and it was not fun to look like this. Also, it dried out the skin under my eyes and the moisturizer was actually flakey.

Terrible products!!! Very harsh on my skin. Clinique skin care products are terrible. I'm going back to my Paula's Choice...it works really well and it is gentle. As I sit here writing this, my neck and face are itching very badly from the rash it gave me. Don't try it, even if it is free.

Pros:

NOTHING. This product is simply horrible. Its not worth the money and it's certainly not worth risking your skin.

Cons:

I read a previous post, and someone said all of us who have swelling are allergic to B.P. NOT TRUE!!! Ive never had a reaction to it, but the first night I used the ProActiv, my eyelids and all the surrounding areas around my eyes swelled so much

(continued from above) that I couldnt open my eyes. At first I thought I had retained water (because I read you can swell from water retention) but then I read these posts, and realized it was from the ProActiv. I also experienced burning the first night I used it, and my face felt like I got a horrible sunburn. It wasnt red or blotchy, but I could feel that all the moisture was sucked out and it felt horrible. My eyelids and eyes were so swollen that I had to have my b/f go to Walmart and get an antihistamine to make the swelling go down so I could see. THIS PRODUCT IS HORRIBLE!! Just use the $100 you would spend on this product to go to a professional dermatologist and have them get you something that works.

Pros:

easy to use, portable

Cons:

not strong enough, small wipes

may work for you if your skin responds to 2.5%BP but its just not strong enough for me I guess. Wipes are only big enough for your faces theyre too small for any other part of your body like the neck or shoulders.

Pros:

Nice little tube. Economic price.

Cons:

Does nothing for the pimples except being extremely drying to the skin.

Not recommended for treatment of acne. Maybe a tiny pimple. Better to use BP 2.5%.

Pros:

Amazing zit zaper, really help clear up my skin!

Cons:

Dries out your skin really badly, but with help of a good mouisterizer you won't have that problem.

Although I have only been using Persa-Gel for 10 day's it has really made a huge improvement on my skin. 10 day's ago my face was broken out and had big pimples all over, my main problem was the right side of my face which I hadnt seen clear for a good year. After using this with a good cleanser and mouisterizer my skin was amazing, and still is! I use it everyday morning and night. I have never been happier with my skin and Persa-Gel is the thing to thank the most.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
