Pros:

Easy to apply, effective

Cons:

A little bit drying but no more than other similar products, follow the instructions and use a moisturizer!

I have persistent adult acne, after years of doctors, treatments, this regimen cleared my skin. My only regret is not starting it years ago. You do have to follow the instructions and stick with it though.

Apply Benzac AC + Cetaphil moisturizer
Hello! I'm new to the Regimen and have just begun using benzoyl peroxide this week. After washing my face at night, i allow my skin to dry, then apply benzoyl peroxide. After about 15 min, I use Cetaphil moisturizing cream. I expect my dry skin to feel relieved from the cream, but gradually the burning and itching sensation increases. It is really difficult not to rub or scratch my skin when this happens. Is this normal or is there something wrong with the cetaphil cream? I was wondering if maybe it reacted with the BP

Yes it's itchy AF for the first 2 weeks or so but then you'll get use to it. Please try you hardest not to touch your face. The itchiness will eventually go away. The results are worth it. You'll have clear skin and benzac also lightens old dark pimple/acne scars

Give it time for complete (or almost complete) clearing
Well, I started using the 2.5% version while doing the regimen and it did work a bit. One thing you should know is that no matter how much moisturizer you put on your skin you will always be irritated, and finding a non-comedogenic moisturizer is really hard (needless to say impossible). A few months ago I went to my grandmas house for the summer where I couldn't find the 2.5% version so I decided to buy the 5% version. At that time my face was almost clear, I did get the ocassional pimple, but it was nothing compared to before and they did not hurt like before either. At that time I'd been using the product for about 6 months and I was really pleased. By then I noticed the moisturizer was breaking me out, and also that I did not need to use the bp twice a day (It was quite harsh). One thing you should know about bp is that in the beginning you are going to peel down a lot , but nowdays (almost a year later) I use it almost once a day (sometimes I skip a day by accident) and I don't get even near to peeling and I get about one little pimple every 2 weeks or so (before I use to get one angry pimple per day). My advice is to give it a try, but wait till your skin gets used to it, and also try to use a gentle cleanser that doesn't have sls.

Highly annoyed
So I'm 17, just got this product a few days ago and used it once yesterday and once today. I have never had bad acne and someone just gave me this as a random gift sort of, and I thought, hey I'll try it. But the past week I've gotten a few pimples more than I would so I was thinking maybe this would take care of it. The first day I just used the wash and felt a slight burning sensation in my face. I've never needed strong acne treatments so I thought it was just my face needing to get used to it. Today I tried using the mask method, and a few minutes in, my face started to burn very badly. After I rinsed it off, my skin began to peel and I had very random shiny spots all over my face. Two days isn't enough for me to see results or not but I do not want to continue use of this if it's going to be like that every use. I'm wondering if it's just me or has anyone else experienced what I described?

Pros:

None

Cons:

The bottles they show in the proactive commercials are the big ones. The ones that are for 19.99 are the travel size first off.
Smell

I tried this product once when I was 13 and used it for a month and a half... that's how long the bottles lasted. By the end of the treatment, my face was so broken out, red, irritated, dry and flaky. Ever since then I have suffered from 15+ zits on my face a week. I have tried everything from Purpose, to Clinique, to Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, Dove, Aveeno pads and foam wash. I have seriously tried everything and nothing is working. I'm almost 20 years old and this battle began at 12...

Pros:

I love this product. It keeps my skin under control, It cleans well for face, body and even as a shampoo, (it does not even strip color out of color treated hair). My husband uses this and likes it, he even uses it on his hands after he has worked on cars and takes the grease off with no problems. I have no complaints. I have tried most of there products and like them all.

Cons:

I can't think of any.

This is the best acne control products I have ever tried and I have tried lots of different products. I have sensitive skin so most of the products I have tried have dried out my skin, broke out worse or caused more problems. Not with Carley's Clear and Smooth. I also suggest there mineral makeup. works great and there is a shade for everyone.

Pros:

-actually clears up acne
-works in the long run

Cons:

-asks that you use a new facecloth everyday.
-can overdry skin

so i received this product at the end of september, i wanted to review it after the first 3 days of using it because my skin has literally never looked clean since puberty striked me but i waited it off since there were some complaints that after a week or so, some broke out a lot. well that's exactly what happened to me (not as bad as what some people described), but like most treatments, acne usually gets worst before it gets better. so i stuck with it, and it's been 2 months since and i really have to say that this is my miracle treatment. i used every product to make my skin smooth, because it had that lumpy texture (acne under the skin) that i just couldn't get rid of for the sake of mankind. after years of using what felt like every product (over the counter, prescription, to home remedies) i feel like i've found a product that actually works for the long run. i like this better than the bp gel which i also purchased from this site, because the bp gel feels weird on my face and if i get any on my neck area i break into a crazy rash. this product is easy and simple, just use it whenever you take a shower (which i'm assuming daily) *don't use a fresh washcloth every time like they recommend, your hands work perfectly fine. also don't think this replaces your exfoliater, use a different product to exfoliate your skin. this product can leave the skin really dry, so you're going to need a good face moisturizer right after you shower. i just wish i had found this product a lot sooner..now that my skin is clear from pimples and lumpy skin, i'm left with scars and colour distortion from years of picking at my skin. don't let bad reviews deter you from this product, you can purchase this item risk free, which includes 100% refund if it doesn't work out, also customer service is really good! i ended up buying the night moisturizer which they gave me as a sample from my first purchase. i hope this helps people who are suffering from acne like it has helped me.

Pros:

Clears up acne in 2-3 weeks, light, goes unnoticed, and blends well into the skin

Cons:

Can make it worse within the 2-3 week time frame because of the build up of budding acne in the skin, dries out skin

I have been using 10% Benzoyl peroxide as my regular face washing regimen as well as pairing it with a 10% benzoyl peroxide topical gel. After my skin cleared up significantly and I was maintaining clear skin, I thought that I could switch over to a new face wash. That was a bust and my skin is still recuperating from the time I did not follow through with my benzoyl peroxide regimen. I have since gone back to using the BP face wash, AHA toner, and BP topical gel and I am seeing a positive change in my skin.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
