  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9qX4ao4yjU Hey everyone my name is Connor. I took Accutane for 5 months, 80 mg a day when I was 17 years old. I am now 19 and in the past few months have taken my recovery seriously and have made some great progress. I am feeling better now. I would like to share some experiences and what is working for. The main points I a want to get across are: You can recover. It is entirely possible. Depending on the how hard you work will determine how fast you improve.

  3. Firstly I would just like to say hello and thank you for all the information I have picked up here over the past few months. During this time I have grown increasingly conscious and irritated by my bacne and so began scouring the web for solutions. Most of these were quick fixes for people who have a zit the day before prom and are 'freaking out', but then I found this place. It has helped reading the numerous pieces of information dotted around throughout the forum and thanks to the fact that t
  4. Hi everyone! I have been lurking on the board for a little over a week. First, thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and advice as it helped me through my most recent situation. Secondly, I figured I would post the nutrition portion of my plan in this area as it has made a tremendous difference (in my opinion) in my speedy recovery. If you want to read my whole story I posted it in "Introductions" here: http://www.acne.org/...paying-forward/ Here's the diet portion. My Diet:

    Meh

So I'm dong OK I suppose. I fucking picked again. It's been harder to stop than I imagined it would be. I like to think I have good self- control. I became a vegetarian when I was 13, I pulled myself out of my alcoholism that I've had since I was 14, I overcame my OCD on my own when I was 10(officially diagnosed later on), but I can't stop picking. It's very frustrating. I'm starting to think my picking is actually a manifestation of my OCD, because it is quite obsessive and senseless in nature.

    1 week of eating clean

13/8/16 It has almost been a week i ate a clean diet. Morning i ate 2-4 eggs with avocado and romaine lettuce. From lunch onward I ate only broccoli, carrot and sweet potatoes for every meal 3 times a day. I dont consume any dairy , oil , processed food. Drink at least 8-13 glass everyday. I also start eating raw garlic , at least 2-3 cloves everyday. I do see a slight improvement. Maybe its too early to tell. Bear in mind also that i suffered from bad acne on my jawline, cheeks. I will conti
  7. Hi guys, What are your thoughts about this idea. Many people say that by regualrly massaging with certain oils and washing face with manuka honey in the morning. They have finally managed their acne. Both of these are processes which affect acne to a superficial level. unlike diet. So do they work even without a diet change (ofcourse that would be a plus). If yes, can we conclude that acne can be controlled by what you put on your face alone as well?

    Chipotle - any red flags?

Hi everyone, so I've been trying to root out dietary causes of my longstanding acne/bacne and have gone dairy, gluten, and junk food free for a while in those efforts. I have seen some success which has been encouraging, although admittedly up and down. My question is for people's thoughts on Chipotle bowls. I basically eat Chipotle every day for lunch because it's the only spot nearby where I can reliably get non-dairy, gluten-free meals. I actually don't mind the repetition at all and my ini

    Allergies and Acne

(moderators, please do not move this from the general acne discussion forum) Hey Guys! So my darling mother has always spent way too much time on scouring through Google and watching Dr Phil to diagnose herself with any number of things, and it drives me nuts. She's tried to diagnose me with all sorts ever since I could remember, but within the last year, I became very firm with her about not doing that anymore. One of the last things she had brought up before my 'ban' was "histamine intoler
  10. Hi, I am a 35 year old woman and I just discovered what was causing my big, red, painful blemishes, a condition that stayed with me since I was 20 years old. It was gluten-sensitivity. Before I had discovered this sensitivity, I had tried the "Proactiv" type medicines, I made sure I didn't wear moisturizer or make-up with oil in it, (definitely no sunscreen), and even went to the doctor to try a medicine ( but I soon talked myself out of it). Then a few months ago, I read an article about th
  11. Hi there, You may remember me from some months back, I was dealing with hormonal acne in my 30s. I have been off this site for a while because I now have clear skin and I wanted to update on what I've done and what worked. I have been on generic Yaz for about a year, it improved my skin but I wasn't clear until I added 50mg of Spiro daily that i saw a dramatic change. It took about 3 months( from June to August) to see results but once it worked, my skin became normal as opposed to very oily
  12. Hi guys! I’m a long time lurker of this forum because I just came looking for answers; I didn’t see the point of posting anything until now. I did it, I finally did it! I found a cure that worked for me and If I can help just one more person I would be the happiest man alive because I know what it’s like to suffer, to slowly lost hope and knowing that with each day a new pimple or cyst comes out of nowhere and a piece of your self-esteem gets chipped away. I cured it with my DIET specifically th
  13. Hi everyone IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ THE EXPLANATION SKIP TO THE LAST PARAGRAPH basically i've had moderate to severe acne for about 4 years now (its been moderate for the last year) and as is the same with most people on here ive tried all sorts of pills and creams over this period. And i have also had a huge interest in diet, nutrition and exercise. about 3 years ago now i did the basic 6 food elimination diet (milk, soy, egg, wheat, nuts and shellfish) and took vitamin tablets to re

    Diet And Acne

I don't understand how people can say diet and acne are not related. For instance Ive been doing digging on Sebaceous glands and sebum. Of course we all know, Isotret (Accutane) is the only actual studied scientific proof that it does in fact shrink your glands and sebum production. However I was reading up on what sebum is primarily made up of (Wax, Triglycerides, Free fatty acids, Squalene) Information pulled from : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebaceous_gland - As you can see the Sebaceou

From the album: Vegan diet plan

    I hate having acne.
  17. First of all, i woud like to say that being an acne sufferer, i totally understand the pains, feelings and other several emotions which effect to our daily life activities. It took me 4 years plus to find a cure which i can say I found a cure to acne. I read this forum and learnt a lot. So, I decided to make an account and give back to this forum for what I have learnt these years. Long stroy to short, I got the first acne on 2009 which was severe. I had no experiences so my sister brought m
  18. Has anyone who has taken kratom for an extended period of time experienced a flare up in acne? Kratom can be taken in a pill form or can used in a powder form to be mixed in a beverage. Kratom is a holistic alternative for pain relief and comes from the same greenery as the coffee bean.
  19. I have attached my before and after. This is from 2/20 to today, 2/24. I DO have tinted moisturizer on. And it still doesn't cover my scarring all the way. I have never been a face picker until a few years ago. Around the time I was living on my mom and dad's living room floor with my husband. We were saving up to buy a home. I was 20, he was 21. After we bought our home and finally settled I still kept picking. I knew it was a nervousness thing, because I also used to be a habitual cheek-c

    Hormonal Acne Advice!

Hello everyone! I know long post... please give it a read?:) Ok, so I’ve been reading this forum form or years. You all seem to be very educated and know what you’re talking about when it comes to acne. I’m really hoping there’s someone that can give me some advice or suggestions for my acne. So backstory... had acne since 13, mostly just whiteheads and some pastuels on my forehead. Never on the lower half of my face where the hormonal acne “should be”. That bothered me so very much t

An Insanely Horrid Diet Cured My Oily Skin

The McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss. I wasn't using it to lose weight. I was using it to get clear skin. Why? This video right here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qdwn2itsgg. Two beautiful twin girls with clear skin going on about how diet cleared them of their acne. It's a plant-based diet, but with a catch: You can't eat any fat. Not even natural fat. That meant no avocados, no nuts, no oils, nothing. You can't even cook with oils. Most of the stuff is raw. Oh my god, I don't know
  22. Caloric Intake and Acne

Acne and Insulin Hormones Caloric Intake and Insulin Hormones Extreme Low-calorie Diets Result in Less Sebum Production The Bottom Line There is a growing body of scientific evidence to support the idea that diet and acne may be, at least in part, connected. Perhaps the most overlooked dietary factor that may affect acne development is a person's caloric intake. Research has shown that a high calorie diet affects hormones that are associated with acne, hypothetically leading to more acne....
  23. My acne cleared up so much but im still have small out Ive mostly post acne marks but my chin and forehead would still get small sore pimples .. For school i started eating granola bars everyday an apple or banana pita or brown bread sandwiches and drink only water .. I cant really have a separate dinner I eat whatever my family eats but its never really greasy fatty food once or twice it could be chips or oven pizza or microwaved food .Over not eating alot in school i do get hungry very peckis
  24. I'm starting to wean off antibiotics! From what I've researched, antibiotics kill both good (gut flora) and bad (candida) bacteria. While weaning off antibiotics, would it be wise to approach it with an (anti)candida diet (to not allow bad bacteria to flourish, and keep them at bay)? Logically, I assume this would inhibit the bad bacteria's growth, and along with probiotics, keep their levels low and eventually out-numbered! So, SOUND GOOD?

    Diet For Seb Derm

I've read a lot of success stories about people who have been eating a diet of basically just meat/chicken, veggies, and healthy fats such as EVOO and others, and they say their seb derm either went away or is under control now with little to no symptoms. I was just curious if any of you guys have done it, and if so, how long did it take you to see any kind of results? Also, I was a big coffee drinker but stopped drinking it a little over 2 weeks ago. I haven't noticed any changes in my skin r
