I would recommend

Pros:

inexpensive
refreshing
not drying

I would not be able to use this alone because my (teen) acne is moderate, but it works great with all the topicals I have been using (finacea, aczone, adapalene.) It does not dry my skin and it is refreshing. I have used it for a month and all of the smaller pimples are vanishing, but I cannot tell whether it helps with deeper pimples. However, I recommend giving this a shot because it it my favorite cleanser I have ever used.

Pros:

Results show the next day.

Cons:

The people who say it stings are pussies. It's not bad at all. It's more like a "minty/ tingly" feel.

I love this product, and it's the only other acne treatment I use other than face wash.

Pros:

Cheap
Non-comedogenic

Cons:

Smell

In terms of spots, this is a bit of a meh product. My OH and I shared (and finished) a bottle in about 3 months. It doesn't make my skin worse or better, but what's stopping me from repurchasing is the smell. OH is a doctor and is pretty much used to vomit and poo so it didn't bode well when I heard gagging, spluttering sounds the first time it was used in the shower. If you're not too keen on the smell - and judging by the reviews below it seems to be a bit of a mixed bag - I recommend Garnier Pure Active Wash instead. Does the job for the same price and smells better!

Pros:

Unclogged decongested pores
Gave skin a nice matte look
Glided on skin nicely

Cons:

Expensive!
Small bottle
Can only buy in select stores (Sephora, Nordstrom, etc.)

Overall I am very impressed with all of Peter Thomas Roth's products! This brand really knows how to make products that target an exact problem and really work! Although it is a bit expensive it is totally worth it because you are buying a quality product with ingredients that are good for your face. After a few weeks of using AHA/BHA acne clearing gel my skin looked flawless. I am so happy with the results and will continue to buy from this line! There are so many good products, i can't wait to try them all!

Pros:

Clears most of my acne
foams
soft skin
reduces oil
smells fine

Cons:

none

I have been using this for a few weeks now and it has been like magic. It started working within a few days of buying it. Most of my acne is gone, i have only 1 pimple on my face now. I saw this item in the store and said why not. This product is awesome and i will be buying it again! I recommend this to anyone who is sick and tired of having acne and wants a solution.

Pros:

The most effective spot treatment I've used (over the course of 15 years, using a wide assortment of acne products). It can also be used all over the face as an exfoliant, depending of sensitivity. Fewer breakouts, lessens durations of current blemishes, fades red spots.

Cons:

The pump dispenser isn't ideal and takes some finesse to dispense the right amount. At first glance, it's a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way. It can lead to some redness and peeling with frequent application.

Well worth the price.

Pros:

Smells good

Cons:

Made my acne worse
Dried my face out
Give me acne on my neck

The advertisements really tempted me into buying it. I love the smell of grapefruit, but I can honestly say this is the worst acne treatment I have ever used! I generally like Neutrogena products, but this one gave me a break-out that I haven't seen since I was 14. I instantly through this product out, I wouldn't give it to my worst enemy!

If you stop using this product acne will come back, but not as bad.

You can use it. It does work pretty well, but there are better solutions.

This product has been the only one that worked effectively to stop the oiliness and VISIBLY REDUCED THE PORE SIZE, my only problem here os finding a supplier so that I could get more bottles, that's why I am online trying to find a supplier where I can get more of it
Highly recommended and effective to reducepre size and tightening of skin

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
