Topical Keratolytic
Acne.org’s Real World Take
Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Decent scent
Leaves your skin soft
Little bumps are leaving.

Cons:

none so far

I barely got this today, and it was actually pretty good. It hasn't cleared much,of course, but my skin does feel better. Little bumps have gone away too(:

Pros:

Exfoliates deep into pore to get rid of impurities, dirt, and oil. Feels good. Fights blemishes.

This is a very good product for exfoliating. But dont get this if you have sensitive skin!

Pros:

-For a long time while I was using it I could really feel it getting into my skin and cleaning
-Doesn't make your skin dry

Cons:

-The pads start to dry out after a while while they're in the container
-Stopped working after a while
-Made eyes burn and face red

I was VERY pleased with this for a while. But the pads became dry after a while while they were in the container and they were just like plain old cotton pads. Also the ones that worked started to make my face dry and my skin peel.l would reccomend it, though.

Pros:

-It has salicylic acid~
-its a gentle moisturiser
-available internationally
-moderately cheap
-Really good with Benzoyl Peroxide
-Recommended to dry and oily skin.. (My brother has dry and I have oily skin yet it works for both of us!!)

Cons:

-My acne gets red but after I apply sunscreen it gets better...
-Stings a bit but my brother who also has acne like it..XD
-Stings moderately with BP

I am Asian and I have oily/combination skin and I suffer from moderately severe acne. I found this site and I decided to start the Regimen but I live in the Middle East so i decided to get some of products from a nearby supermarket. I didnt like this moisturiser at first because it stinged and I changed my moisturisers alot but I always end up using this one... I buy BP from my pharmacist and together they create a good combo.. In the morning, I apply BP, Dual Action Moisturiser and non-comeodogenic sunlotion,(I change sunscreens alot,,) It creates a good combination and I recommend it to young adults of all skin types.. I really want to use Jojoba oil with this because I heard it is really good with moisturiser...

Pros:

works!

Cons:

works but not perfectly

i've been using this for years, everytime i stop i break out more than usual. this product helps me control but not cure my acne. remember that dairy (except yogurt) and high glycemic index foods increase ur hormones that secrete sebum (i.e. cause acne)

Pros:

I loved how it made my face feel clean and soft! I think it helped clear my acne a bit

Cons:

Im not sure it really makes your face less red like it claims to do...No HUGE changes in my acne... just maybe some minor clearing...

I think this is a good product. I use duac with it so i dont know how well of a "Clearing" acne agent it is but overall its a good cleanser you just might need to use a spot treatment with it or something to compliment it because it does not do a super job if you have moderatish acne like i do.

Pros:

The wash gets my skin nice and clean, like the tingly feeling of the moisturiser. Good value for money and the packaging is nice.

Cons:

My skin has become worse since using. New spots popping up all over the place. The old spots aren't fading. the spot gel doesn't seem to do anything at all.

I had to oder this off the internet since it was in none of my local stores. I perhaps get one or two spots a week and they appear then fade fairly quickly. I have a wedding coming up in a few weeks time now and had wanted to have nice, clear skin for it. Started using this product ten days ago and since literally, the very first use, my skin has been breaking out with at least two or three new spots a day! A DAY! Needless to say this isn't really the solution I'd been hoping for. Also the old marks from previous spots seem to be taking far longer to fade, which right now just makes my skin look a bigger mess than it has for years! I know that perhaps my skin is just "purging" and I've read that it may take a few weeks to see the benefit. So...I'm going to give this another and I'm afraid that if I don't see a improvement, clean and clear will be added to one of a long list of treatments that I had high hopes for, but who failed me miserably. I will post a update soon!

Pros:

Smells good, skin feels soft and looks great now, cheap, reduced blackheads and no more random acne breakouts,

Cons:

Can't think of any =]

Clean and Clear blackhead clearing wash is AMAZING. I have very sensitive skin that tends to dry out with use of a face wash. But, with this product I haven't had any issues yet. My skin feels wonderful after use, clears blackheads (or reduces size), helps prevent the few random breakouts I have. The little blue beads aren't so bad. I found if I put Clean and Clear on during my shower first then wash my hair out I don't have to worry about finding random blue beads all over my head during the day.

Pros:

Smells good, Makes your face feel fresh

Cons:

hmm.. I cant really think of any. There are certain kinds of clearasil that made my face seem to break out worse.

I love clearasil so far. The first time i started using it i seriously didnt have a zit on my face for a couple of months.. and i can break out pretty bad usualy.. Right now i use the acne clearing scrub with the scrubbing beads ( recommended) The scrubing beads do a good job of digging deap and get dead skin off. Then after wards i will put on rapid acne treatment on infected areas and within a day of doing this process i noticed good improovements.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
