Topical Keratolytic
Acne.org’s Real World Take
Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Works fast, and you dont need that much so it'll last a while.

Cons:

Dries a little

I bought the astringent first at Wal-Mart for about $6.00, which dried up my face in a good way because mine is so oily! Then I bought the face wash for the same price at Wal-Mart, and in two days my face has been less oily and smoother and more refreshed. If they come out with a scrub I'll definitely buy it, because this doesn't really seem to help the stubborn blackheads on my nose! Completely recommended, go buy it at Wal-Mart for sure!!!

Pros:

Does what it says, Dries out pimples and stops new ones from forming in direct area around it

Cons:

Very small quantity
Hard to apply because you have to dot pimples and wait for stuff to sink in

It works. It helped me and it takes about 2 nights in a row for it to completely make pimples completely go away. Definitely worth the money.

Pros:

It has a shiny cover, helped clear the spots on my back,

Cons:

It dries skin out on my face making my spots there even worse, stings a bit, made me look about 45

Just like any other clearasil abomination it is largely alcohol based, and isn't good for anyone's skin. Because it dried my skin out so much I looked awful every morning, like I had aged and not had enough sleep.

Pros:

Does not work fast and does sting

Cons:

in just 1 day half of pimples and blemishes are removed from the skin. Leaves a natural glow and texture to the skin at all levels of requirements.

you should buy this product. you just need to be patient considdering most of the crap u guys are saying is false. you cant expect immediate improve ment within 24 hours. Everything takes time.

Pros:

cheap price and cheap product...not for sensitive skin

Cons:

too irritatine for people with sensitive skin

I am 39 years old and have very sensitive skin, and because of that I had been using fragrance-free and chemical free products. I always thought I looked pretty young until I saw a picture of myself at 29. OMG! After doing some research I decided to try the Made from Earth skin care line - based upon the favorable reviews - low cost and the fact that they are chemical and fragrance free. (Perfumed lotions make me sneeze and irritate my skin). I tried the Rosehip & Hibiscus face serum from Made from Earth. After one use, I noticed a few things. My skin tingled after appliying the serum just mildly and it felt like the vitamins i the serum where penerating my skin and getting in deep. The second thing I noticed is that my skin almost immediately looked better! I applied it the next morning again and noticed the same things. I decided to try it every other day and have to say I REALLY notice a difference! My skin looks almost as good as my pic from ten years ago.

Pros:

It has a very pleasant smell and nice tingling sensation. I like the consistency of the cleanser- it almost feels like lotion. It doesn't feel like it's stripping all of the moisture out of my skin, like some of the foaming cleansers.

Cons:

None worth talking about

It's worth the 19.99 I paid for it.... My skin does not feel like chicken grease, for the first time in about three years.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
