Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

- smells amazing
- gentle!!
- it really does work

Cons:

- I run out of this like crazy!

This is the bomb! I've seen nothing but good results from this scrub so far. My facial acne has been getting worse over the past weeks (not due to this cleanser!), so I've been going caveman on my face. However, I've been using this on my upper back, chest, & shoulders and my bacne/chest-ne is COMPLETELY gone!! Woo hoo! Side note- I leave it on for about 1-2 minutes before washing it off, I think it works better that way!

Pros:

Even tone & blemish free

Cons:

Cost

I have been dealing with sporadic acne through most of my adult life. I would generally see light acne along my hairline and experienced persistently shiny skin. I attempted to use the standard Proactiv system but due to my fair and sensitive skin it caused severe redness and irritation. When I called to return the product they sent a gentle skin kit free of charge. It works great. I have never had such even unblemished skin!

Pros:

*NEW FORMULA*
- Does EVERYTHING it says it will.
- Rids acne etremely fast (results in 1 day).
- Gentle (I use 2 washes one after another morning and night).
- Active ingredient is salacylic acid; this is way more friendly to your skin than benzoyl peroxide which dries and irritates even unsensitive skin.
- Smells good.
- A little goes a long way.
- Doesn't dry out skin, but rids oily skin.
- Works without any other treatments (leave on treatments).

Cons:

*NEW FORMULA*
Will not get rid of acne scars, but it never promised that; just wish that it did lol.

I was running out of my clearasil ultra daily face wash and when going to CVS it was not there. I previously did research and knew this was supposed to be good. I hesitantly bought it, plus it was cheaper. My clearasil Ultra Wash never cleared my skin without using a leave on treatment; it just made the leave on work better, but without that it just made my skin look pretty, clean and glowy. I never expected something you wash off to actually work in riding acne; I was so wrong. My skin was now oily being summer now, and that was making me break out again; I knew I needed something different anyways because Clearasil Ultra face wash was not working anymore. I tried this at night right after my noxzema face wash (I think my acne washes work better on clean skin/ plus my skin is oily in the summer, don't do this if you have dry/ sensitive skin). I loved the smell, consistancy, and when washing it off it felt like a film on my skin; washing thouroughly gets rid of it. It could have been supposed to stay on to fight acne, but I like clean feeling skin (I don't want to risk clogging my pores). I saw a diff. that very night (I used NO leave on's, just the 2 face washes to see how it really worked). When I woke up I promise you that my pimples was half way gone (I don't have acne just a few small pimples; yes I used to have light acne, but with good care its gone). I used it again this morning after my noxzema original face wash and I am not noticing any dryness or irritation. When I use my noxzema I only use a little to get the oil and dirt off my face; I know this has been making my acne washes work better. If you have oily skin this routine will do wonders for you. If you have dry or sensitive skin I would stick to just the neutrogena oil free acne wash morning and night. Tip: On your first washes use a small amount to avoid irritation. Skin does adjust to products overtime. Bottom Line- Love this, will forever use, and Ill make an updated review with the same name.

Pros:

-clears body acne
-smells good
-soft skin
-doesn't dry out skin

Cons:

-if stopped use it comes back worse

Im a teenage girl and I have acne on my upper back and I tried this and within a week my acne was gone I used it for about a month everyday then stopped and it came back worse then ever! And it's harder to get rid of the second time I've been using it for about 3 weeks straight now and it's not even half gone. So as long as you keep it up and don't stop it's a good product doesn't dry out your skin and works. So if you get this my adviece to you is don't stop and your skin will look great!

Pros:

COMPLETELY clears acne, smooths skin texture.

Cons:

Takes a while to work, must use consistently for it to work. A little on the pricey side. Can be a little drying.

I have been battling acne for 8 years now, tried dozens of products and regimens to get rid of my acne, no exaggeration. I used to get cystic acne, along with regular whiteheads, blackheads, etc. I have lots of pitting and acne scars from breakouts over the years. The regular Proactiv formula made my acne worse so they sent me a free trial of their GENTLE FORMULA. PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE USED IT FOR AT LEAST 2 MONTHS CONSISTENTLY!!! At first, it does clear up your acne and then for a week or two it will make it worse, BUT STICK WITH IT! I've been using it for about 4 1/2 weeks now and I went from around 20 blemishes to one or two TINY whiteheads that aren't even noticeable! It is a little bit drying, but I will glady settle for a little dry skin any day over the horrible acne I used to have. I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel to help with the dryness, it will not break you out. The trick to this working is that you must use all 3 steps, every morning and every night. If you are inconsistent with the regimen it will not work!!!

Pros:

Cleans face well
Gets rid of dirt and oil
Doesn't make me break out

Cons:

Doesn't really help acne either

Basically, if you are looking for a good face fash for acne-prone skin, use this one. It is a very good, foaming cleanser. But don't expect it to help that much with actual acne. I know some people says it cleared their acne right up, but for me it just worked as a good cleanser.

Pros:

Good smell
Tingly Clean
Sloughs off dry skin
Cleared up forehead bumps

Cons:

Need to rinse really well
Lip breakout

For six dollars I feel like I got my money's worth. After investing in a $36 skinceuticals scrub wash, and seeing no improvement, I decided to have fun and try a cheap one. It isn't a cure-all but I am happy with the results so far. After 2 weeks use I have noticed the small bumps on my forehead have gone down. Acne around my lip has been more (but could be due to hormones). I once learned that forehead acne is from stress, chin from hormones and cheeks from nutrition/food intolerance.

Pros:

-Reduced redness
-Left skin feeling very clean and tingly
-Able to be used as a cleanser/exfoliator

Cons:

-Has not noticeably cleared acne (but reduced the size of certain zits)
-Has not entirely prevented breakouts

I really love this product! I had been using Proactiv for about the past year and a half. I actually started using Proactiv about three years ago, then stopped using it because I was not happy with the results I was getting. I then went to a dermatologist, which resulted in the worst breakouts I have ever head. My skin was very irritated from the harsh medication I was receiving from my prescription. Thus, I went back to Proactiv. For a while I was very happy with it and wondered why I had ever quit using it in the first place. It was not until very long ago that I realized I had acne scars and was not pleased whatsoever with my skin. I went to Walmart to purchase a new product to replace my Proactiv. I searched and bought this product, particularly because it said it was clinically proven to instantly work 67% better than Proactiv. I had never used any Bioré products before, so I was hoping for the best. I am so pleased with this product! I actually could instantly tell that it was working. It reduces the redness my skin has had for so long. I can't say that it has actually cleared any breakouts, but that is probably because I am not using a cream specifically for that and am in search of one. This is a great product for anyone with mild to moderate acne or even just a great exfoliator for a fortunate one without any acne.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
