Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

Makes skin way worse.

My doctor told me that this would either work or it wouldn't but under no circumstance would it make my skin worse. I had what many would call "vanity acne," before, nothing serious. I have been on this stupid pill for almost two months now and my skin is 10x worse. ABSOLUTLY. HORRIBLE.

Pros:

This stuff works really well i get breakouts mainly on my shoulders, back and face.I took this for about 4 months I could take my shirt off with out being embarressed.I would truly take this for the rest of my life if i could.:)

Cons:

It came back and now its rare that i take my shirt off sometimes.I wish i could take something that will permanently get rid of this damn acne.:(

"minocycline" it really works while i was taking it but now its been about 4months since i last took my pill, and its back again I honestly i dont know what else 2 do.maybe i can try a stronger dosage next time but i tried everything in the book and nothing worked like "minocycline".I would definitely recommend this pill 4 any 1 whith acne no matter how mild or severe...oh yeah one more thing every one is different so the sideaffects can differ from 1 person to the next. But 2 be very honest i had no sideaffects.well 2 all the people out their struggling with mild or severe acne good luck and dont give up.:)

Pros:

none....

Cons:

at first it made my skin worse.. then seemed to clear up the excess damage it caused after a few weeks...did nothing for me and i had no time to fit it into my day because 1 hour before and 2-3 after eating is brutal..

it sucks.

Pros:

Cons:

Serious Vertigo (dizziness). Luckily it stopped soon after I stopped taking it

I didn't notice any improvement in my skin, it just made me so dizzy and maybe even a little psychotic(?)!

Pros:

clear up my blackheads and pimplefree for a few months

Cons:

started getting a few large pimples when I was first on it,

After finishing my 6 months period of being on this drug, it only took about a month or two for it to come back, but about two months for it to get much worst then before, I've got many whiteheads and pimples on my forehead now before I was taking the medication, it somewhat has made it worst, and my forehead has alot of bumps on it now, and the scars show much more colouration then before I was on this drug and at the moment its only getting worst, I wouldnt recommend this product because it only helps a few people for short period of time but it seems to affect everybody in the longrun, it has made matters worst for me, I should of just used Differin Cream to help clear up my scars rather then using Minocycline

Pros:

I could tell that it was doing its job in reducing my acne cysts.

Cons:

I experienced confusion and I had a very hard time focusing on topics that I normally could focus on (e.g. studying). My acne also did not just disappear. There was still noticeable acne, just less of it.

The negative side effects outweigh the slight skin improvement.

Pros:

Reduced flare-ups

Cons:

panic attacks, vomiting, nausea, tremors

Stopped After 2 months, symptoms were too severe and only had a month left of it. Double flares came in a week.

Pros:

clears up some acne... ?

Cons:

the first few weeks i used it i felt very dizzy and nausous within 10 minutes after taking it. i was also irritable. alsoo,,, it tests on animals.. but so does everyother presription. =X

it cleared up a bit of my acne... maybe. im not really sure. little to no improvement for me. and i have moderate acne. i dont like how you cant eat before or after either... it just seems inconveinent to take it.
December 7, 2007

Pros:

I used 50 mg twice a day for three months for my moderate acne. After two weeks, my skin was completely cleared. It works while you're on it.

Cons:

I stopped after three months and within two weeks it came back. I am back on my regular dosage now, for three more months. Doc told me to experiment with dosage.

Great medicine while you're on it -- it works. However, it masks the symptoms. For moderate acne, it's been helpful; for more serious, I'd try something else.

Pros:

Initially Cleared my skin

Cons:

Very sensitive to the sun. Erythema Multiform. I have a dark circle around my mouth. had several break outs from taking these meds for over a year. The thing is, during these breakouts all med professionals deny use of these meds caused this conditio

I will never take these meds again! I am suffereing and my skin is really discolored all over my body. I feel really down about it. I cry often. I hope this clears up and never returns.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
