Pros:

-Didn't cause anything horrific to happen to me.

Cons:

- No change in acne
- Bruising and stomach cramps
- It didn't work it is probably the biggest con, really.

Not worth it. Admittedly, I've only used it for 4 days, but I had been using doxycycline, which I've been told is the same thing, for 28 days. NO CHANGE AT ALL. Except these pills give me stomach cramps and bruising (it looks like bruises) on my knee. Hoorah. I even took this with Retin-A, it does squat. I guess it's Accutane, here I come (along with the fun iPledge and all that goes with it)... Yeesh.

Pros:

completely cleared up my skin

Cons:

nothing

i have been using this for about 8 months now. my skin is completely clear with an occasional little bump every beginning of the month. i'm not sure if it is the winter dryness or if the medication is making my skin dryer than normal. has this happend to anyone else?

Pros:

cleared up my acne in about 2 weeks

Cons:

none so far

when i used this product i also was using benzaclin cream as well as cetaphil antibacterial soap. i used to soap to wash my face 3x a day and i would apply the benzalin 2x a day. the soap works great. it clears up all oil and decreases blackheads. i think the reason why my acne is gone is because i used all three products together

Pros:

I could see some difference in the amount of pimples i had. Used it for over a month so far.

Cons:

Still get breakouts on the sides of my face, and am now trying retin A combined with it.

It DOES work some, just give it time, and let the old acne scars heal.

Pros:

Works great, cleared up all my acne

Cons:

some side affects are brutal, it can be really hard on the stomach

recommended product for those who has low self esteem due to acne, or just want to get rid of their acne. Defenitly works, but it can take some time.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Unbearable rash all over body, itchy everywhere, genital yeast infection

It did stop my acne, but it also made me unbearably itchy, a disgusting rash, and a yeast infection. Those side effects are not worth it and I won't use it ever again.

Pros:

Red spots would start fading quicker decline in the number pimples you get

Cons:

None really people are too sensitive when they say all thiese negative things about the drung.

This drug was a prescription from my doctor. Take it once a day 100mg. It was a step 2 of a 3 step system which i was put on. Bottom line its making difference. Because i was stationed in Iraq the stress and fear of war i developed acne and it got so bad that it came to the attention of the my doctor. Like any damn medicen it will take time. Reading all those negative comments from people its just a shame.

Pros:

works...i guess?

Cons:

I easily forget to take mine. 100mg twice a day. Your not supposed to drink milk or any calcium supplements within 2 hours of taking it...so eating cereal in the morning is something i miss.

i was using it for a week, stopped for a month, then started again - and have been using it for 3 weeks. I have hepatitis C, so i am a little worries if it is hurting my liver. my dermatologist said it isnt and that the pill is gentle, but im still concerned. i guess it works. im also using differin at night and duac in the morning. my acne is pretty bad. but since i started the pill and the 2 cremes, my acne has gotten so much better. I have ALOT of scars though, so it will be months for my face to look good again. Im 19. i have had acne since 13. it sucks. it makes me tired though. Unless i get 8 hours of sleep a night i will be really really tired. i need to drink a lot of water. id say use it. but read up on it forst. like...dont use if u have kidney failure, or are allergic to things...and stuff like that is important to know before you use. recently though, sometimes when i go poo, after i wipe, theres some blood. its not gushing, but there is some...

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
