One of the less effective treatments out there. It should never be used on its own or for longer than 3 months and may lead to resistant strains of bacteria. It may provide a slight improvement in mild acne in some people.

Pros:

Clears breakouts
Prevents new breakouts
Minimizes pores
Leaves skin looking healthy
Completely AWESOME

Cons:

Expensive if you don't have insurance
Takes about two weeks to begin working
Can make your skin feel slightly sticky (doesn't effect your acne)

I'm 16 and i started using this product the summer of my freshman year in high school. The Texas heat and humidity definitely doesn't help. I've always struggled with acne and when i started using this product I was a little skeptical since nothing *cough*cough* Clinique, Proactiv, Neautrogena, Clean&Clear *cough*cough* ever seemed to clear my acne. About a month in, my skin was considerably clear and i was having no new breakouts. My pores were noticeably smaller around my nose and under my eyes. By the second month I was completely clear. I didn't feel the need to wear make-up every day since my scarring had diminished as well. I love this product since it keeps my skin consistently clear!! Definitely a miracle solution!!

Pros:

nothing at all.

Cons:

Made my skin shiny.
Made me breakout? I'm not sure.
It's my 2nd day of using it tho

I felt disappointed but I'll keep on using it if anything changes. Goodluck guys! You should try it and maybe it'll work for you.

Pros:

The first week:
-zits were dying
-my face was getting better

Cons:

then after 3 weeks my face became:
-oily
-having some breakouts

so like I don't know if I should continue using it 'cause maybe It'll get worse at first but it will get better by the time. So I'm not quite sure though, I'll give it another chance like 2 weeks? but if it doesn't work. I think I'll just stop using it. It's up to you if you'll try this. *I'm using it twice a day. One in the morning and night.

I've been using this for 3 weeks and my skin has never looked better. I have cytic acne that usually flares up from time to time but since I've been using this, I've just had a couple small pimples that went away unuasually quickly. My only concern now is that my skin will become resistant and it will lose it's effectiveness.

Pros:

Lightweight, effective.
No scent, no residue, feels like it's doing nothing.
Clear gel, no tingling, no sensations, no sensitivity, no dryness and yet so effective

Cons:

None

Works in complementing your oral medications, nightly topicals with this lightweight, effective day gel. Put it on areas of active lesions. My must-have as anti-bacterial for pimples I pop. Heals popped pimples fast. Also used on papules and notice it helps to flatten, soften them. On pustules, they harden quite well enough for gentle extraction with clindamycin very well. Sometimes you even wonder if the clindamycin works because it's so gentle. Best thing for day-wear on active pimples. Expensive but 1 x 30g tube lasts me 3 months.

Pros:

Works quickly to get a bad breakout under control
Cheap for a prescription
Easily available
Not harsh to skin

Cons:

Just a short-term fix
Stops working after a month or two
Engenders antibiotic resistance
Does nothing for clogged pores or scarring

This is an antibiotic, and like all antibiotics, the bacteria in your skin will become used to it. It will clear up pustules in a very short time, but you better have another treatment started, too, because this will stop working. I would recommend saving this for when you start something else like topical retinoids - this would do well to control the pustules that will come up at first, and by the time this stops working, the retinoid should be working well. After several years off it, it will work again because you will have a new spectrum of bacteria on your face, but I find that the "effective time period" shortens with each course of therapy. The first time I used it, it worked for about 6 months; the second time I used it (10 years later), it only worked 6 weeks.

Pros:

Stopped new acne from forming.
Old acne went away.
Easy to apply.

Cons:

Acne comes back. (Maybe building a resistance to the Clindamycin?)
May not be a permanent solution.

I was prescribed Clindamycin Pledgets by my doctor during a yearly wellness visit. I told the doctor that I had seen a dermatologist and nothing had seemed to work. (I have had seasonal acne on and off since about age 10 and I'm 20 now'wondering why I still get it!) I began using the Clindamycin Pledgets right away after washing my face with a benzoyl-peroxide cleanser, and within about two days I noticed a difference. My skin was very clear until my fourth week of treatment when my face began to breakout, leading to a pre- Clindamycin look. Overall it may help control acne for people with certain types of skin, but the acne can come back.

Pros:

not drying

Cons:

caused hundreds of pimples and made my face drip with oil.

Used for 2 months and the Dr. just gave me ediduo to use with it, used them together for 4 weeks, skin in really dry and when I use ediduo it makes my skin super oily but tons of dry skin still with all my new pimples! I'm done with Clindamycin for sure!

Pros:

It works fast, it feels good and its the only thing that has ever worked for me

Cons:

It super expensive! But worth the price

I had acne all throughout high school. This stuff works well and fast, but is pretty pricey! Worth the try if you have already tried many others

Pros:

I feels great on my skin. I have mild acne and this seems to work VERY WELL for me.

Cons:

It did burn the first few times I used it, but got better. Now it doesn't burn at all... more like tingles. It does have a tendency to make your skin feel dry. I just use a moisterizer the morning after I apply it after cleansing. Works for me!

It clears up brekouts and keeps my skin free of acne and blemishes while I am using it. I was lucky and my Dr. gave me a sample of it to use. Which is a pretty good sized can... 50grams. Can't beat free! Now I am in for trouble the next time I get it, as I do not have insurance. So that will stink.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
