Pros:

Very refreshing
and I'll let you know more as I continue the use of the product

Cons:

No concerns yet,
I'll let you know if any come up

I am in grade 11 and I have had acne since the minute I stepped foot into highschool - I used many, many products and nothing seemed to work - I used the Clean and clear line for a very long time and it seemed to treat my acne but it did not help to prevent it - I wanted something that would do both - A few people reccomended Clinque so I booked an appointment with a specialist who worked there at the bay in a mall close to my house. She examined my skin and advised I used the Clinque Acne Line. This all happend today. I have washed my face twice already since - Once in the morning and once in the evening and so far - nothing wrong has happend - but I will keep you all updated becaues I know how it feels to have acne - it sucks - and if i find a product that helps me, i will make sure it finds its way into the hands of other people so that they can get the same help i did. Wish me luck. I'm just trying to stay positive and have faith that Clinque will clear up my skin.

Pros:

Clears up the skin very well

Cons:

Doesn't work for Blackheads (That is one area where I consider Proactiv to be good, otherwise Proactiv Sucks!)

I am 21 years old and have had bad acne all over my face for almost a year. Since the last six months I started using Proactiv, it worked well for two weeks but after that I found that I was getting severe breakouts on my face than what I had. I also had blackheads around my nose but during these two weeks of using proactiv, I found that they had disappeared. With the breakouts I decide to stop proactiv and try something which does work effectively. I read reviews online, and found Clean & Clear to be good and started using it. It's five months now and I can confidently say that I am 90% free from acne. I would recommend this for every acne sufferer more than any acne product and specially Proactiv.

Pros:

Gel based, goes on clear, easy to spread, quickly dries, very effective, doesn't irritate, cheap compared with alternatives

Cons:

Packaging made it hard to dispense

I love this product. I used to use a 10% BP cream. It would make my face extremely red and flake like crazy. I then discovered 2.5% BP and bought some of the Neutrogena On-the-Spot. I didnt like the cream because it took a while to absorb. The price of the tube is expensive seeing as it lasted me about a week. Then I discovered this. Its amazing. I recommend this to everyone. Regarding my only con: I ordered the 2 oz sample to try and I am extremely satisfied. The packaging is slighly annoying because you have to squeeze the bottle and when you start to get low you have to open the top to get the remaining product out. I'm sure once i order one of the bigger bottles with the push down dispenser, my problem will be solved. (Price includes shipping)

Pros:

Not harsh on my skin like other acne products; inexpensive; no harsh odor

Cons:

Like other acne products, bleaches towels and clothing. Use white towels to pat your face dry! Also put a washcloth or other cloth over your pillow, as you will sweat and bleach parts of your pillowcase.

Wonderful product. Got some because PA was too expensive for my budget at the time. Noticed results almost immediately--mostly because I was more conscious of touching my face and avoided doing so. The real results came about a week and a half later. On a trip back to my mom's I lost all three bottles. Within a few days the blackheads started to get a little puffy and sore again, and within a week the acne was back. Bought another round of KA and voila, problem solved. I will never have to use another product except maybe moisturizer+suncreen again. So glad I stumbled across this one.

Pros:

My face was very clear when I was using this product. I didn't have many problems before I started but it made my skin even better.

Cons:

After my product ran out and I wasn't using it anymore, my face started to get severly dry and flaky.

Now I am wondering if I am stuck with this dry skin forever because no form of moisturizer seems to be working!

Pros:

Tingling clean feeling

Cons:

The tingling turned to buring after the first week, my skin became too dry even when I dropped the useage to about every other day, the lotion made my skin feel oily probably because it did not moisturize enough.

I hate Pro Activ because my skin got much worse to the point where I looked diseased or in other words just like raw hamburger-->I had nodular and cystic acne after that, along with the minor forms of acne that I had before, and swellow lymphnodes from my body trying to fight the infection. After it got that bad, I tossed the Pro Activ in the trash and saw my doctor who put me on an antibiotic and accutane for 6 months. Now I have no acne issues what so ever. In general, see a doctor or durmatologic before anything. They are less expensive and know more. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT, IT IS A SCAM.

Pros:

Excellent at preventing pimples AND getting rid of ones already present!

Cons:

Can be drying some times.

Keeps my entire face clear even during those times I am more prone to breaking out:) Goes on easily and absorbs fast.

Pros:

Leaves your skin soft

Cons:

Itches and Burns
A Complete waste of money

I got Proactiv about three weeks ago and I have been using it in the morning and at night. A week ago I noticed that after I put on step two, my chin and the skin along my jaw began to burn. Now, it burns badly and the skin dries up even after I put on the lotion. So this product isn't working for me at all. I repent why did I leave Murad for treating my acne with Proactiv.

Pros:

Affordable
Controls Acne

Cons:

Leaves the skin very dry
No options for treating the scars

This product didn't work for me. Although it is pretty affordable when compared to other products yet it does lack many things such as to stop the re-occurance, scar removal after acne has dried out and the worst being excessive drying of the skin while using it. I feel proactiv is thousand times better than this product and is only a bit higher priced.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
