Pros:

Definitely cleared up a few spots, leaves your face feeling clean

Cons:

Is not meant for people with moderate to severe acne
Dried up my skin - a moisturizer is needed
Bleaches washcloths, towels

I'm sure it works well for people with light/minor acne problems. The sulfur mask seemed to work really well for me, but other than that, I was not successful with Proactiv.

Pros:

It dries up big red pimples, white heads and cysts in a couple of nights!(cheap too..7.00 because of health insurance)

Cons:

dries up skin

Use this product at night on the lesions and use a good facial cream for the dry spots

Pros:

totally clears acne....even cystic acne!!!!!

Cons:

cant really think of any, wish it was available to buy in the UK but apart from that nothing else

I am 34 and have suffered with severe cystic acne on my chin and jaw line since I was 16. I (like everyone else) have tried every "miracle" product and prescription treatment available and NOTHING WORKED! I saw Dans Regimin product and thought "what the hell, I have nothing to lose". I didn't actually think it would work!!!! After a few weeks I noticed that the cysts I had were going down and my boyfriend noticed that new ones weren't appearing as often as they usually did. I have been using Dans products for just under a year now. I am now totally acne free for the first time in my adult life. It's absolutely wonderful. I recommend it to everyone that will listen. If you're reading this and feel desperate (like I used to) buy it - you won't regret it. Give it time and it WILL WORK !!!!!!! Good luck x

Pros:

It really works for me like how it said on the commericals. it improved my overall look. it even removed redness, scars left from a long time ago.

Cons:

a little too expensive. and hard to buy not many places sell them so its best to buy online

it works best on preventing acne/breakouts. but once they are out it doesnt help too much. but if you use it everyday you rarely get breakouts.

Pros:

-Doesn't dry my face out,no skin peeling, yet it dries up my pimples in a matter of hours!
-The face wash took some getting used to,rub it in your hands before applying to your face,it seems to work alot better.
-The day lotion isn't greasy at

Cons:

-The night lotion tightens your face & its kind of uncomfortable.
-The smell,it doesn't really have a fragrance at all.

I had a pimple on my chin & I put the night lotion on it as soon as I noticed it & it's practically gone! No Lie. I really did see a complete turn around in my skin in just one week. I've tried ProActive, other Neutrogena products, Acne Free, Apricot scrub...ect. You name it,I've used it & this is the first thing that has actually helped my skin,in other ways beside just treating my acne & blackheads! I love love love it!

Pros:

Cleared about 2/60 of my pimples in the first month

Cons:

dried the heck outta my skin, didnt do squat overall

I would probably reccomend proactive for people with mild-moderate acne..mostly mild because it doesnt really do much.

Pros:

Cleared up my extremely stubborn acne in a matter of days! The best part are my pores, which are virtually invisible, and all of my blackheads are totally gone!

Cons:

I have very sensitive skin, and it made my whole face pink/red the first few days of using it. I have dry skin all over too, but I’ve started using an oil-free moisturizer after using the lotion which is helping a lot.

Extremely affordable, easy to buy, and works better than most other products! My skin is nearly perfect besides the dryness which is going away quickly!

Pros:

Leaves skin feeling smooth and works fast

Cons:

Small bottle

I just started using it. My acne has not cleared up yet but it feels better. My skin is smoother and it does not dry out my skin at all. I have combination skin and severe acne. Definitely try it. It really is not that expensive.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
