Pros:

Works well, I used it for like 2 weeks and my skin feels softer, at first it was dried out.

Cons:

Make sure you use it 2x a day otherwise it won't work well, your pores will be really defined.

Like they say, patience is the key. You just have to give it time to wash out all the ickyness in your skin. they say pimples form 2-3 weeks in advance before they appear, so give it that to get rid of them all!

Pros:

Proactiv is an extremely user friendly product. I love the 3-step system. It makes my skin feel fresh and clean, morning and night. It starts working almost immediately, which definitley works for me!

Cons:

No real cons for Proactiv. I noticed that the toner has a bit of a funny smell, but that's about it. It might dry out your face for the first week or so, but it eventually goes away.

After using the Proactiv system for about a month, I started noticing my moderate acne was clearing and it stayed clear! I'm like thousands who've tried countless acne products in search of a solution and Proactiv was the answer for me. If you are one of those people who like to pick at your acne... after Proactiv clears your acne, you will notice your not picking so much anymore, which in turn, will reduce scars. I love this product and everything about it. Unless for some reason Proactiv stops working on my face, then I will not buy anything else for my acne. The price is a bit expensive, but it's definitley worth it if you struggle with acne problems!

Pros:

Absorbs much better and is not as drying as the only other 2.5% BP product out there, plus is much cheaper.

The only thing that's worked to clear up extensive acne.

Pros:

It makes your skin look and feel really nice even if you don't have acne.

Cons:

Anybody that paid more than forty-bucks for this stuff is a moron.

I work for Guthy-Renker. I can tell you right now that it has approximately a 97% success rate. So if it doesn't work you're not using it right. I don't really have, nor have I ever really had what you would call "acne" on rare occasions one or two small pimples will show up after I shave. Ya' know those little ones that you just squeeze out a little white stuff and wipe it off and it's gone? Anyways, I used Proactiv just to be able to say that 'I'd tried it.' I gotta' tell you though. It made my skin look awesome. I just started it in the shower and did the toner after. Then I let it dry while I got dressed and brushed my teeth. Then I did the lotion and left. Holy Cow! My skin looked awesome man. So I got other people using it and their's looked good too. So anyways I think it works. Especially since seeing some of the people that work here who've used it. I don't use this product anymore personally, but I see people that do everyday and I think it

Pros:

PRICE! and a winning formula of 2.5 benzoyl peroxide.

Cons:

packaging. the bottles can leak, but this is only a minor annoyance for a truly great product

i had light acne and used proactiv for three yrs, but when i moved abroad i didn't want to deal with the membership system and s&h fees. once my proactiv ran out, i soon started to break out again. i knew benzoyl peroxide worked for me, but i tried to manage without. when a friend visited from back home, i asked her to bring over klear action. i was impressed by their use of the same ingredients as proactiv and was desperate for an economical solution. after just a few days of using KA, my acne started clearing up as it had with proactiv before. my skin looks great, and i am so happy! i would recommend KA to anyone who saw results with proactiv. there are, however, some drawbacks (as with proactiv). if you have sensitive skin, the formula may be a little harsh. i find that reducing the application helps, and a good moisturizer is a must. just as a correction to a prev post, the KA cleanser does have scrubbers, just like proactiv. all in all, i am completely won over by KA! a must have!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
