Pros:

nice packaging,it works!

Cons:

its expensive!, i dont like the smell, makes my skin looks shiny & oily, bleaches my clothes, pillows n towels,& also makes my skin even more worse & more sensitive than before i started using proactiv if i stop using th

i've been using proactiv for 6 years..before i started using proactiv, i only have breakouts around my forehead and chin area. proactiv does help clearing my skin but i do sometimes have a few pimples here and there (due to stress etc). learning that proactiv contains glycolic acid and etc. (i dont like most of their ingredients) in their ingredients i felt like im torturing my skin.. so i stopped using them for a while...and guess what after 2 weeks my skin looks terrible! breakouts everywhere (i even have plenty of pimples in my cheeks & jaw line) and also its getting more sensitive..so i consult few dermatologists and they told me that glycolic acid did this to my skin, they also told me that my skin layer is getting thinner because of the product (that explains why my skin becomes more sensitive) and some of their ingredients may also gives other side effects in the long term (just imagine ive been using them for 6 yrs!!)...im sorry to say but this product does sucks!!

Pros:

proactive really helped me get rid of my acne. I noticed results quickly and it helped my skin stay clear for a year or more. Then I stopped using it...

Cons:

I figured my skin would stay clear but after using a different cleanser, my face broke out again. I tried to get back on proactive but now it is drying out my skin like crazzzy. It kinda burns too. I never remember it doing that before.

I would recommend people to use this prodcut and stick to it. Don't think that your acne is cured though, you should stay on proactive if you decide to try it.

Pros:

Cleansing system works somewhat but is hugely improved when the makeup and facial mask is added into the mix.

Cons:

It's time consuming to have to do the whole three step wash day and night. And it's expensive...but worth it!

I disagree because I had pretty bad acne and I started using proactiv's three step system day and night religiously and my pimples slightly went away. However, once I added the face makeup into the mix which also fights pimples everything disappeared. What I'm saying is that oil based makeup plays a big role in worsening acne and once I started using the makeup mu face was never dry and i now probably have like one tiny pimple on my face whereas before I'd have 50. I like it a lot.

Pros:

Just Wonderful, I am 43, dry skin with breakouts

Cons:

none

When I read others reviews I am finding the ones which are disappointed never used correctly. You use the soap first lightly, then scrub for 30 seconds only!, then washcloth cleanse with the soap again. One time only a day with the scrub!!!! The other washing only needs the soap. Please use correctly it will work!!!

Pros:

There is nothing pro about proactiv

Cons:

I got the worst breakouts after using the product because I never had breakouts under chin and using this product made it worst.

The CUSTOMER SERVICE is so bad because when I try to cancel my account they just want to try to sell another products forcefully and I tried to cancel my account through several e-mails but they never respond to e-mails at all but if we try to buy their product they will respond to you almost immediately.

Pros:

By far the best acne product I have ever used. Works incredibly effectively without overdrying the skin.

This is an incredible product. After struggling with acne for years and trying a wide range of treatments, my skin is finally clear! I can't recommend it highly enough.

Pros:

This product produces results. When used consistently it provides clear, clean, softer and moisturized facial skin without the need for medical intervention. I have recommended to several friends and they have all been successful also. Get from QVC.

Cons:

Can be irritating if over used for individual skin types. Can cause or leave white residue on skin when not used correctly. Travel pack only good for 3 days and too expensive for the size. Moisturzer isn't needed for combination/ oily skin types.

This works and has for everyone that I know has tried it. We all agree if not used consistently your experiences will be different as far as its effectiveness. I had to take time to figure out my usage frequency to prevent the irritation to sensitive facial skin. I only can use the 3 steps, once a day otherwise, I too break out with tiny red pimples that nothing can correct. Take a chance to try it and work with it to find out if you are doing the step in the right order and if it can work for you. You did not get less than beautiful skin, blemished, scarred and pimpled overnight. Be realistic in allowing for something to help correct the damage that had a lot longer time to take root and be consistent towards the effort. I will continue to recommend this product to anyone I know can use assistance in finding a solution for the facial skin care and look they desire. I am glad I took a leap of faith and tried it and I am sure you will be as well.

Pros:

WORKS!

Cons:

PRICE! and fear that i may become so reliant on it or it might stop working at some point in the future.. altho with price, i figure i prob used to spend an equal amount on skin care stuff trying to rid of my spots anyway.

I have not had skin this clear or smoothe for years! I think its very important to use exactly as directed - cleanse for 2mins, rinse very well, & leave time between each step for each solution to sink in. I am not getting 100% clear skin 100% of the time but i am very close to it - every now and then i may get a spot but it goes away so quick and is never as bad as the big mountains i used to get - the kind that stayed for weeks! can get a bit drying with use twice a day but nothing a bit of moisturiser cant fix, PLUS proactive really helps get rid of scarring. I am so glad to have found it, i never had chronic acne so don't know how it will be for those people, but I think its definately worth a go. bit pricey tho...

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
