Pros:

leaves your skin feeling refreshed and soft.

Cons:

face will severly breakout when you stop using it. dries face out and the smell is terrible.

my face was not bad to begin with. just a few blemishes here and there. after using this product my face was so much worse. it has been about 6 months and my face has improved no thanks to proactive. i would NOT recomend this to anyone because of the painful long-term effects on your skin.

Pros:

Worked immediately! Whiteheads on my forehead disappeared and acne subsided. BP goes on clear, no fragrance.

Cons:

Made my skin super scaly, dry and red no matter how much moisturizer I used. Followed routine to a tee. Redness and scaly-ness did not subside.

It's a great product if it weren't for the dry/red side effects. It made my skin wrinkly as well despite moisturizing all day long. I dropped the routine after 5 weeks and was also worried about the health effects of the large amount of BP I had to use. I switched to another product called Capisderm face wash (organic) after reading a few reviews on this website. My skin is glowing and normal looking now and I have no acne whatsoever!

Pros:

Fast results, very easy to use.

Cons:

Smells a little like paint & the moisterizer makes skin feels dry.

I have very mild acne. I am 24, I have had cleared skin all throughout my like until about 5 months ago. I guess stress just took a toll on me. My friend recommended the 3 step system from clinique, so I went out & tried it. The lady at the counter said I should get the regular kind considering I don't have full blown acne. It worked well the fist 2 weeks but then I would breakout with 1 to 5 pimple a week. So I just purchased the acne 3 step system starter kit & so far I can see a tremendous change. Yes, it does make my face dry & stings just a little bit (because my skin is very sensitive) but not as bad a proctive did. For the dryness I would use the moisterizer for dry skin. & Afterwards I would use the spot treatment & then the acne treated concealer. Right now it's working wonderfully for me!

Pros:

It's easy to use, you can use it anytime you like.

Cons:

Dries face, burns, makes acne worse, too expensive, customer service sucks. Doesn't work within 2 months like advertised.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless your skin isn't really bad with acne, maybe a pimple here & there. It will make your face worse & if you stop using it, it makes it ten times worse. I won't be buying this product again. In fact I'm going to the dermatologist instead.

if you want to have false hopes and make 'clear face' a reality only in your memories, go ahead, try this product.

Pros:

This product works really well. The toner refreshes and leaves your skin feeling clean and soft, and the repairing lotion didn't dry out my skin and I saw results the very next day after use.

Cons:

The renewing cleanser smells bad.

I have ordered proactive for years now. I don't use this product consistently; only when I need to. This is the product I always go to when I have a breakout or a blemish. I put it on at night before I go to bed and the next morning I'm virtually free from whatever problem I had the day before.

Pros:

Clears up existing acne quickly

Cons:

Dries out skin. Acne comes back with a rage if you stop using for a day.
Makes skin red and scars more noticable.

I hate this, It use to work for me when i was about 12, although i never had a acne problem back then. Now i guess it has no effect.

Pros:

It cleared up my skin a bit after two days or so.
I can see an improvement even after four days.

Cons:

It is VERY drying and turned my face red.
My face itches like crazy and became flaky.
It also leaves a white powdery residue.

I think it will work if I stick to it for a while. I just started, so maybe that's why my face is unbearably itchy and red. WARNING: Use plenty of moisturizer.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
