Pros:

They always deliver on time. It worked great for the first week or so.

Cons:

I missed using it twice a day once and my face broke out something horrible. It started with these little bumps all over my face and turned into huge festering pimples (which i never had before hand). My face also started to burn and get dry

Buy the trial (it worked more than 30 days for me) and check it out for yourself. You might have better luck than I did. I spent way too much on this.

Pros:

nothing at all!

Cons:

first couple days it was fine, no drastic change, i just thought it was descent oil-free toner and a lotion but my 5th day of using it, i got an allergic reaction! My face had red spots all over and my skin was super super dry.

please think again before using this product. all this does is make your skin really dry taking all the moisture away even the ones that you need. I ve been off acnefree for four days now and my skins are still itchy, burning, and flakeing..

Pros:

Price, size, presentation, it does work. The dispenser is a super big plus.

Cons:

My face is tighter or drier now, so I have to use moisturizer ABH (Alpha Beta Hydroxy) Oil Free Moisturizer from Beyond Belief (Sally Beauty Supply), with Proactive I did not.

If this product had more moisturizer in its components would be per

As many others, I found this website on a search looking for a comparable option to Proactiv, which I have using for around 6 years now. It does work, but I am tired of paying their high price. I thought I should be able to find something much cheaper and I did find some, nevertheless, not with the right combination of 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, but higher and this would definitely be too strong for me. I tried the Acne Free treatment, but I did not like the texture of consistency of it, kind of sandy. I was very concerned about the comments I read on this website mentioning that Dan's treatment would take long time to dry, but to my surprise it has a very good consistency or texture and it dries fast. I imagined a transparent and thick gel like Aloe Vera type, but it looks just like a cream, not a gel. Very good presentation, and lovely and ideal dispenser, it definitely beats Proactiv on this part.

Pros:

smell, refining mask, reasonable price for 30-day kit which lasted well over 2 months

Cons:

only the refining mask made a difference, excessive dryness leading to peeling

I tried this product because I thought it would be the solution based on my friends' recommendations and of course the commercials. I was warned against buying the 30-day trial because it takes a while to kick in. The first few days of applying proactiv I noticed a difference in my skins texture, it was rougher looking which seemed promising. Soon that was replaced with peeling which was all the more cumbersome to put make-up over to cover the blemishes that were not diminishing! I did everything according to instruction except the first few weeks I forgot about the refining mask which turns out to be the only worthwhile piece of the kit! Apply it to a zit and sleep on it or wear it for 10 minutes like you're supposed to, my stubborn 3-month old blemishes did shrink! Oh, and the zits that did fade are still scars on my face. For now I've invested the trial line of Acne Solutions from Clinique and the post-blemish formula to go with that. Do trials to find out what work will for you!

Pros:

It starts working within the first week. I have noticed my active-new pimples are already gone, and the ones that I have had forever are starting to clear. It is easy to use, and the directions are very clear.

Cons:

The wash, to me, seems to have an akward number of scrubbling beads, and, the day-cream seems extremely gritty, but other than that, nothing.

Hey. It works for me. That is what matters, right? You won't lose anything by trying it!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
