Pros:

FANTASTIC for getting rid of acne and black heads.

Cons:

Dries out the skin quite a bit, but a good non-comogenic face lotion fixes that problem.

I have struggled with breakouts since I was 12 years old. I found Oxy when I was 14 and NEVER looked back. The oxy maximum vanishing lotion is FANTASTIC, no other word for it. I put it on my entire face twice a day. Once after washing my face with an oil removing face wash in the morning, and once after washing my face at night. Your skin may get a little dry...but isn't it worth it?! Give it a chance, you'll thank me :)

Pros:

You can return it and get your money back.

Cons:

I broke out even more within the first week. My face was very dry. I had to reapply moisturizer 3-4 times/day. It made my face feel very tight and I couldn't even smile. Right now, I'm trying duac. It's been a week and so far it's working for me.

Not everyone's skin is the same. Some products might work, some might not. You just have to be patient and find something that will work for you.

Pros:

Dries Out Acne Fast, Reduces Size And Redness
Stops Acne Recurring

Cons:

Not avaliable in Austrlia :(
Makes Skin flake/peel around chin, this maybe just from starting product

Amazing Product Clears Acne Works on marks aswell If Not available in your country, BUY ON EBAY, cheap as I found that using once a day (at night) is enough to make a difference and reduce flaking, Hopefully the flaking is just cause my skin isn't used to it yet.

Pros:

Not terrible. Works a little.

Cons:

Still had break outs. And with my extremely oily t-zone, the everyday scrub caused my skin to form a hard crust. I felt as if my skin couldn't breathe, not matter how much I washed it. Fortunately someone gave me a spa gift certificate, and an aesth

I don't mean to sound like an ad, but what worked for me is Clinique. Not much more than Proactiv and for me it worked. (And I've spent hundreds at med spas.) It worked so well, that even when I was lazy about all the steps and washing my face at night, it still worked. And I was so miserable and humiliated by acne, I didn't think anything would ever actually just work. Here are the issues that Clinique helped lazy me with (and they were really really bad): oily oily t-zone, cystic (huge!) acne, and enlarged, scarred pores. And Dan, your face looks fine. Where's the acne?

Pros:

Cost, smell, consistancy, all of the above are great!!

Cons:

None that I have found so far. Only used for a week now.

I love this product!!! I ordered the 16oz bottle the day that I found this website. I knew I had a tube of the Neutrogena On the Spot Treatment at home and used this product until Dan's Treatment came in the mail. What a difference between the two products! Neutrogena gave me bad flakes when used with my moisturizer. And I felt like it was more drying on my skin. But Dan's Treatment does not do that at all. I have only been doing The Regimen for a week, but I already see results. Even my husband says he has noticed. I use the Purpose Liquid Face Wash (couldn't find the bar, very popular I guess. I went to two different Target locations and both of them were out of stock of the bar)and the Purpose Moisturizer as well. My face does have some dry spots, but I am just waiting for my skin to adjust to this program. Well worth it for the clear skin that I am seeing. Recommended to all. Dan's Treatment is worth every penny!!!

Pros:

Made larger pimples go away.

Cons:

Caused a lot of smaller acne bumps, dried up skin, feels a bit tight and heavy on the forehead.

Although this made a huge zit go away in about 2 or 3 days, it didn't work any miracles and gave me a lot of smaller bumps that annoyed me even more.

Pros:

Able to modify kits or order individual products

Cons:

Should be fragrance free since this is an acne product.

No one system works for everyone. My daughter and I fell for the advertisements of perfect skin that all acne companies make. Proactiv's claim is no different than what you hear from everyone else. Just because it doesn't work for one person does not mean it won't for someone else. My daughter has had good (not perfect) improvement with the three step program over two months but she is experiencing some leathery patches on her chin where acne has healed. We are going to cut out the repairing lotion to see if that helps with the dryness and sun sensitivity which differin and oral antibiotics caused (she uses the oil free moisture with SPF 15 but is outside everyday because of sports). The renewing cleanser contains a benzoyl peroxide formula which Proactiv states penetrates deep into the pores to attack bacteria helping to clear existing blemishes and prevent new ones from forming. Sounds just like the repairing lotion to me so both may be too much for some people.

Pros:

Nice, easy daily regiment. Seems to be working.

Cons:

Reorder process. I do not like the fact that I have to sign up for automatic shipments to get a good price.

My tween daughter has acne. I never had acne so had no idea what to do. We tried all the soaps, etc. in the stores for oily, acne skin and finally tried Proactiv last month. I is working pretty well for her. Now it is time to reorder but I do not want to commit to getting the shipments automaticly. What's a Mom to do?

Pros:

Nothing good about this product.

Cons:

It didn't work, it is expensive, it dried out my skin, and the refining mask smells bad and the smell doesn't go away even after you wash it out.

This product sucks. The commercials lie...maybe it works for some people, but it doesn't for the majority of the people. This product dried out my skin and the Benzol Peroxide was harsh on my skin, even if I used it once a day. If it was less expensive, I still wouldn't give it a try again. In my opinion this entire product sucks and is a scam to cheat people out of their money. This product in addition to other products might help if they work well togeter, but Proactiv by itself really does not work.

Pros:

Clear skin!

Cons:

I find this product to be pretty drying.

I have combination skin and I usually get a few breakouts at a time. I saw an add for this line in a magazine and thought I should try it because my prom is coming up. When I did it worked very well for my skin it got rid of pretty much every blemish that I had. But, after about 5 days I started to notice that it was really drying out my skin so instead of putting the medicated moisturizer I put on La Mer cream on where I feel my skin is dry but other then the dry parts - which can be cured easily, this product is great!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
