Pros:

I have used Carley's acne, soap, and moisturizing products for years. They work much better than anything else I have ever tried, prescription or over the counter. The products are incredibly good values. Also, no animal products!

Cons:

The packaging is no-frills. If this is important to you, put the product in your own fancy bottles or jars.

Carley's is one of those companies that comes along very rarely. The make products that work very well, are affordable, are reliable, and make my skin and self look and feel more beautiful and healthy. Instead of spending $$$ on expensive fancy packaging in boutiques or department stores that are full of animal by-products and cheap fillers that irritate most people's skin, spend much less on Carley's and get a genuinely high quality product that works.

Pros:

none

Cons:

dried up my face, skin turned red, skin peeled off

It made my skin red for 3 days. I could barely make any facial expressions those 3 days because so skin was so dry. I applied moisturizer twice a day which didnt seem to help much. Eventually the skin on my whole face peeled off and now its back to normal. I learned my lesson and i stopped using this treatment.

Pros:

I've been a customer for many years, and I appreciate the great results and the fast, friendly service.

Cons:

I sometimes wonder what I'd do if something happened to Stephen (who runs Carley's).

Clear and Smooth does work right away, and after years of use.

Pros:

It clears your face and helps your blemishes!

Cons:

none really

This is a good acne product, it has no fragrance that will make acne worse and it clears your acne good and than it helps your blemishes from being so visible.. I really like it, it is the only thing I can use so far that doesnt make my face look worse. Its very affordable and easy to get.

Pros:

skin felt soft... for the first few days.

Cons:

cysts like none other. absolutely every pore clogged. ridiculous amounts of stress.

At first I thought I had found my holy grail with this product! my skin was beautiful and glowing. but unfortunately that only lasted for about four days. after that, I started to break out horribly. my chin especially, with huge cysts that took forever to go away. wish I could love this product like everyone else. I know the breakout may have been from "purging" or whatever nonsense you'd like to believe, but the fact of the matter is, my face looked mangled. I'm still recovering from it. the soap made me break out on my back too, which had been quite clear. for that reason, I feel that these products clog my pores, not that the product is purging.

Pros:

Cheapest 2.5 BP per ounce to be found anywhere. So much better than the white OTC creams.

Cons:

Very slight temporary antiseptic smell...not even enough to not use the product.

I ordered the whole regimine after trying OTC stuff for several weeks in order to get the best price per ounce. This is such a step up from the white cream in the tiny tubes. So far everything is working really well. You will want to invest in white towels and pillow cases and be dressed before you apply BP. That's ANY BP...not just this product.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
