Pros:

greatly reduced my rosacea
improved all over tone
reduced breakouts
improved texture of my skin
pimples clear within a few days

Cons:

unlike everyone else, my skin is still too oily! it didn't dry it out enough
on occasion i get one or two cystic pimples (usually around my period) that i never got before
my skin still isn't perfectly clear after two months of use

this certainly worked the best out of everything i've used so far on my teenage acne my skin is still a bit too oily and it didn't really improve the shininess of it and i wish my skin would be clearer, but i guess i can't expect perfect results in pretty short term though the occasional cystic acne is REALLY annoying but it's better than break outs all over my face

Pros:

Works to get rid of acne

Cons:

Dries face
Swelling
Redness
Burn like quality

I used Dan's regimen for about 7 months. While my face did dry a lot - and when i say a lot, i mean epic proportions of scaliness - the regimen worked for the most part. My face cleared up. Because it worked, I decided to take a break from acne medications. A month later, I broke out again. I went back on the regimen. This time however, my face swelled and I developed odd patches of skin that looked like it was burned. I stopped all products until my skin healed. Then I used a very tiny amount of BP to see if the same reaction would happen again; it did. Even with a little bit of BP that area of my face reddened greatly. For some unknown reason my face has developed a severe allergic reaction to BP. This is very disappointing to me because I know that BP works well for acne. However, the redness is just not worth it. I am going to try other products with BP, probably Proactiv's - their BP never dried me out as severely as Dan's did. Though it might be more expensive, its worth it if I can avoid the severe redness and swelling of Dan's BP which is even worse than acne itself.

Pros:

Stops the appearance of nodules and cysts and other painful spots,
Makes skin less painful and feel smoother,

Cons:

Makes skin flakey,
Still get smaller spots emerging so does not fully treat acne,
Spots take longer to fade,

I've been using this product for two months or so and the results have been very blanaced. I used to suffer from very sore cystic acne along the cheeks and the jawline, I was very self-conscious about it because I could always feel the swollen spots. I used this product for a week and noticed it really helped as it got rid of these big cysts. However, now and then I have a break out of a lot of small spots which appear on the jaw and cheek and when poppd the blemishes take a long time to fade (and by the time they do fade I have had another break out) so it hasn't stopped my acne. I would still recommend it though as the smaller spots are a lot less irritating and I usually forget about them after a bit which helps with confidence, so it is better than not using it.

Pros:

Afforadable and effective

Cons:

It can ruin your clothe if it gets on it, especially bathroom rugs.

It was overall a good product. It definitely cleared up my acne like no other, it even made my face appear as though I was wearing makeup. Compared to other products who were expensive and ineffective this product was cheap and it pretty much did it's job.

This stuff has done wonders for my skin in just a few weeks: I started with a very small amount am and pm but by the second week my skin was becoming seriously dry. I started using BP pm and jojoba oil am. Now I use a reasonable amount of BP am and pm, and jojoba oil on top of the BP am, and now my skin is almost clear and not dry. I've tried loads of drugs on prescription and over the counter meds but this is the only stuff that has worked besides roaccutane (which didn't work for long). My acne got me really down and I'm so happy to have "normal" skin again :)

Pros:

works if your acne isn't bad

Cons:

doesn't work if your acne is bad

when I was a teen my acne i had some acne but luckily it wasn't too bad. I used this for about a year and it seemed to keep it away pretty good. not sure why but my acne came back full force when I was 23 and i tried this again and it did nothing. tried murad and again nothing. I strongly believe that if your acne is more than just mild or happens sometimes, you need to do something within your body to make it go away. I used Exposed then Zenmed and both worked because they have herbs to clear your body which is what you need. Either that or meds from dr. I'm choosing not recommending because if your acne is bad you will need something else. If your acne really isn't that bad u can prob try this though.

Pros:

* Keeps skin shine free
* Removes dead skin cells which clog your oily pores leading to the acne
* Skin feels and looks better than it has in 14 years

Cons:

* If you have moderately severe acne it takes a long time to really work
* A tad expensive, but it's worth it

At first I wasn't sure about the product, but I am sold. It has taken quite some time to really stop the breakouts, but once it managed to keep my skin from being oily, and the clarifying lotion's exfoliation kept the dead skin cells from clogging the pores my skin looks and feels better than it has. I've had acne for all my adult life (since 14) and I've never found a regimen which works. Clinique is working for my skin better than anything ever has. Could not recommend it enough, but like I said you need to give it time - especially with bad skin. For girls I also recommend going on a good contraceptive pill because my skin would always flare up during menstruation so if you can find out to help and balances your hormonal fluctations then combining this and Clinque is excellent.

Pros:

Works
Cheap

Cons:

Itches a bit when sweating
A bit of redness when used 2-3 times a day
Can be a bit drying

This really works for me, I apply it one to two times a day after using the facewash. I haven't found that it bleaches anything really. It can be a bit drying, but nothing that can't be solved by a bit of moisturiser. The only real problem I've had with it is that it I do sometimes get very very faint red patches, but it's a small price to pay for clear skin!

Pros:

Gets rid of acne
Not drying at all
Works very quickly

Cons:

None

I would recommend this to anyone who has nodular, cystic acne like myself. Works very quickly (almost over night) and does not irritate my skin.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
