Pros:

Acne disappears for the time Proactiv is used.

Cons:

Cleanser and moisturizer runs out quickly.
Acne comes back after stopping use.

My acne just wouldn't go away, so I finally decided to try Proactiv because I heard that it worked. And it did. In a couple weeks, the acne was disappearing and after a month or two, it was gone. Because the cleanser runs out fast, I had to keep buying it. I finally decided to stop using Proactiv about a month ago. All the acne came back, twice as bad as it used to be before I started it. I'm contemplating whether to get back on Proactiv or not.

Pros:

I have never had an issue with Acne through my teen or high school years. I am 22 and just now started having issues with my forehead breaking out. To which I believe has to do with my hair being long in the front and using hair products. But I found this so I figured I'd give it a try I LOVE it!! It's helped a lot, my skin still has a bit of acne but there going away and less noticeable than before.

Cons:

I have noticed around my chin, and between my nose and lips that it's been a bit dry.

I'd definitely buy it again!

Pros:

works quickly
does not dry skin
low cost
The 8 oz tube lasts a long time

Cons:

none for me

I had teenage acne. I obtained two different products for my acne from a dermatologist over a period of a year and neither worked for me. I ordered your product which I use as instructed and everyone has noticed a difference within 2 weeks. I would say my acne has cleared up 80% Very happy with my new appearance. I will certainly recommend your product to anyone. The price is a present to all of us who have limited funds to spend on acne products when saving for college is a priority.

Pros:

Works good at first

Cons:

Rash
dried out skin
bad customer service

I was really excited to try anything that was more customized than pro-active. I have sensitive skin and it worked okay at first. After about a week my skin was burning and itchy. I came to the conclusion maybe I was allergic to it. I called the customer service reps to see if they had anything without benzoyl peroxide. When they said they did not, they were not very helpful with canceling my subscription. They would not refund my money or try to make it right. That was the end of my road with using this company in the future. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

Pros:

Cheap kit if order over phone in US

Cons:

Does not work
The mask smells gross
Expensive if have to order seperate
They sell close to expiry date products and tell you it is okay to use expired
Keep sending "Come back please!" mail every month - so rude, maybe Im clear!

I did not see any results with this. I only like their Make up Removing cloths, the rest of the products didnt do anything for me. Their lotions made my skin feel greasy, their toner was oily and mask smells just horrible. I am using another product now that is much better but Proactiv keeps sending me - "Come Back, we miss you!" cards every month, that is really rude - its like they want me to have acne again!

Pros:

This is an excellent product. It healed my lifelong acne and I no longer need to use the skin treatment. I now use Carley's moisturizing line and soaps. My teenage sons are using the acne treatment now. No animal products - very nice plus!

Cons:

The packaging is not fancy.

This is a rare product that actually works exactly the way it is advertised.

Pros:

- Gets rid of almost all acne in 3 days
- Just drying enough for oily skin

Cons:

- None :)

This was my last resort and I have tried EVERYTHING!! Clean and Clear, Duac, Epiduio, Kiehls, ProActive, Doxycylcin(oral medication), EVERYTHING. I have gone to 3 different doctors in the past year and this is the only thing that works. The toner is great, and my face is never red!! I really recommend it, but if i have learned one thing through all my trials is just because one thing may work for one person, doesn't necessarily mean it is going to work for the next. Good Luck!! P.S. IT'S SUPPER AFFORDABLE TOO!!

Cons:

-does NOT work, at all
-costs too much
-they make you use it three times a day (too much for me)

I tried this when I was 19. I bought it for 3 months, thinking that would be enough time to clear my skin up. It was not, my face never cleared up. I would follow the instructions like my life depended on it, and nothing ever happened. This product will let you know in the instructions that the wash is just part of the procedure, you must also watch everything you eat and handle your stress. You should not have to do all of this just to make proactive work.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
