Pros:

Works fast easy to use

Cons:

At first dries your face out alittle may bleach clothing

Well I have sensitive skin, so I bought the Panoxyl 4%. It works great. I've used everything thing from Marykay to Proactive. Nothing else has worked. I've been using the Panoxyl for about 7 days now and my acne is almost all cleared up!

Pros:

Drys out pimples
Clears alot of acne
Goes to work really fast

Cons:

Drys out your face but you can use a good moisturizer. I use clinique dramatically different lotion and then my face is fine.

The bottom line is that would totally reccomend this product. It is extremely effective and it saved my face before it got uncontrollable. Even though it dries out your face, thats kind of what it is supposed to do to get rid of acne.

Pros:

Clears up skin literally overnight
Dries Clear
Great Value

Cons:

Smells HORRIBLE!
Stings slightly when first applied

Overall I really liked this product. It literally cleared up my acne overnight and killed the few pimples I had while on the regime. It comes in a 1oz tube and for $5 I think that is a great value verses the Neutrogena On the Spot treatment which is $10 for .75oz. My only gripes with this product are that it smells so terrible, it's really overwhelming when first applied. Also it stings slightly when you first apply it, at least for me. I never had this issue with the Neutrogena but it was nothing to bad and it subsided within a couple of minutes. Overall I'd recommend giving it a shot if you are sick of the high price of Neutrogena's formula.

Pros:

Huge amount of product for the price, shipping is fast, free bar of soap, it WORKS!! Free samples usually included too, that's a plus.

Cons:

Can't really think of a con

For me, the Kick Ass cleanser works. I thought I no longer needed it and quit using it after using it consistently for over a year. Slowly but surely I started getting a breakout here and there. I pulled my Carley's back out and started using it again. My skin has already started clearing up again. This product will always be a staple for me. I learned my lesson.

Pros:

It works
It's a gel
It's not very drying

Cons:

none

I was previously using Benzaclin in the PM and Differen in the AM. But my face was getting really dry, red, and I would always have to worry if I was peeling or not. Now I use this stuff in the AM and PM along with Differen at night. So much less irritating.

Pros:

clears acne fast

Cons:

stops working after a while

I was so excited when I first tried this (many moons ago) because it cleared my face so quick! But then it started becomming less effective, and left my face very dry and irritated looking. I think the cleanser is to blame, because i still use the toner and the bp treatment. But I think the cleanser with bp is too much. Its too many harsh things! A harsh scrubby cleanser, a harsh glycolic toner and a harsh bp lotion. Too many harshys.

Pros:

-flattened out a lot of my little bumbs
-evened my skin tone out a little
-prevented some future pimples

Cons:

-didnt flatten my big, forming pimples!
-made my skin dry, there for causing more acne
-made my face pale!!
-BURNED ME

I do think its a good product just not as great as I hoped. You have to be really dumb to walk outside with proactiv still on. Obviously you have to wash it off and you wont get a sunburn. I still get about one pimple per week including blackheads. Not to mention my acne marks and bumps that just wont go away. My face is oily! Also make sure your hands are sanitized before using proactiv. Popping a small pimple is like asking for three more too come out. Last, PROACTIV WONT CURE YOUR ACNE!! SO DONT GET YOUR HOPES UP!!

Pros:

effective
continuous
clean feeling
perfect for sensitive skin
best thing I've ever used
huge bottle

Cons:

a bit drying (obviously with bp)
skin still somewhat oily

This product works. I've been using it for a couple of months thinking that it is "too good to be true." I wake up every morning in hopes of clear(er) skin, and IT IS! It's quite amazing. After having acne from age 12, every produce I have tried (beside extreme prescriptions) have worked the first few days only. This Benzoyl Peroxide works continuously and I am finally having clear skin at the age of 21. Even if you are skeptical, just try it. It's $20, just a normal meal price, and not to mention an extreme self-confidence booster. You must follow Dan's Regimen listed on this website though; it helps out SO much. Good luck for whoever else discovers this miracle product!

Pros:

It worked for a while...

Cons:

It stopped working...
It became expensive.

I used Proactiv for almost 3 years. In the beginning it worked wonders and it felt great having clear skin after battling sooo long. Although it did take 1 month for me to see results. During the 2nd year i had little flare ups but i had faith in the product. On the 3rd year i realized that my acne was coming back big time. At the same time the price increased ($600 TT which is $100 USD) and i couldn't cope anymore especially when i was paying more for less. Yes, the unopened bottles started to feel almost empty. So, i stopped... One thing though, i realized that i started to get white spots on my face while using it in the 2nd year. When i stopped the white spots faded. Then again i do live in the Caribbean.... Personally, it's not a product that i would use again. Nevertheless, everyone's skin is different, but, go with what your doctor recommends. Hope this was helpful, I tried other products after, Ashe Skin Care and now Oxy....

Drying

I love this stuff! I was having a terrible breakout on my forehead and this cleared it up in less than a week. I've been using it every night for about 3 weeks to a month now and I can honestly say that no other BP treatment has been this great for my skin (in fact, I've never had good results from ANY BP). The acne on my forehead is gone and my blackheads on my nose are diminishing. The only downside is that it's drying and my skin flakes a little bit, but with a 10% BP cream that's to be expected. I just make sure to use my Clarisonic Mia when I cleanse for exfoliation and I use a good moisturizer. I feel like my skin will balance out soon. I'm so pleased with this product!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
