Pros:

Makes your skin feel really clean and smooth

Cons:

Agree with others that it dries you out. Must use additional moisturizer. I can only use once per day. My acne issue is rosacea, and it's helping keep that at bay, but doesn't help as much with period-related acne. Don't see the purpose of the toner.

I like the way the exfoliating cleanser makes my skin feel, but I don't necessarily think it's worth the price. Would probably recommend just buying the exfoliating cleanser and then use my own moisturizer, rather than buy the entire package.

Pros:

It actually works!

Cons:

None so far - and I can only use the pills because I have a skin allergy to benzoyl peroxide.

I'm 27 years old and have suffered with acne for years. Not keen on taking antibiotics or birth control, I decided to give Nature's Cure a try on the advice of a friend. It took about a month for it to kick in (maybe because I can't use the topical solution which would likely help more), but I can finally see some improvement in my skin. It's not totally clear yet, but I can tell it's getting better. Give it a try if you've tried everything else to no avail!

Pros:

Easy to Use
Did clear up acne

Cons:

Dried out my skin
Made my face burn and sensitive
I have wrinkles that I never had before

I do not have very oily skin, but had very mild acne. After using it for 6 weeks, my skin is extremely dry, flaky and burns. Around my eyes I now look like I am 50, instead of 30. And the area looks like snake skin. I have never had very sensitive skin, however now, anything (including makeup) I put on my face burns. If you are young and have oily skin, I can see where this product would work. However, if you are older, have normal to dry skin, please beware that your skin could dry out even more and cause wrinkles to look worse.

Pros:

makes my skin feel clean

Cons:

takes too much time since it is 3 steps.

It is good if you have enough time in the morning but makes your face red at first. If you have time to put it on and wait for the redness to go away then yes, if not then no.

Pros:

Gets rid of acne.

Cons:

Cannot stop using.

On one hand proactiv get rid of your acne and keeps it away but heaven forbid you forget to wash your face. Fall asleep in your makeup? Forget it! You'll have a full-out breakout the next morning! Don't have enough money to get a new supply? Use might as well wash your face with a vat of grease! Don't use this product! Its expensive and not strong enough to handle more than 24 hours.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
