Pros:

This stuff has been the only product that has worked for my daughter! She has tried the most popular (and expensive) brands and she's also been perscribed medicine from the doctor. this tops it all!

Cons:

I don't have any cons.

If you are looking to try something new for acne, I would definitely give Carley's a try. It's inexpensive and the bottle is huge and lasts for months. Plus you get a free soap. The soap is wonderful. My daughter almost panics when she gets near the bottom of her bottle. She's in her mid teens and this has changed her confindence immensely for the better. I've used it myself, and I don't have acne, but it left my skin feeling refreshed and smooth. I love it too, but I'm not allowed to touch hers. I have to get my own. I have tried and ordered several of their producst. All have been a wonderfully positive experience and the company is second to none in the service department. Higly recommended!!

Pros:

I have used Proactiv for the last 2 years. Ever since i have been using it i have not had one pimple or breakout. this stuff is awesome. recently, i tried universiy medicals acnefree stuff the says their stuff is as good as proactiv. NO WAY

Proactiv is the best. acnefree does not work, leaves skin dry and irritated.

Pros:

Worked like a charm!

Cons:

Not found in stores (in Canada) easily?

My skin tends to breakout fairly often and greases up quickly, so I usually look for products that fight uncomplicated acne and will help keep my shine under control. I found this product at Wal-Mart in Ontario, and having never tried Clean & Clear before (but having failed with a million other cleansers), I thought I'd give it a shot because if it didn't work, I hadn't spent a ton on it anyway. I *LOVED* IT. I have only had the rare breakout on my face since I started using this cleanser (twice a day, once in the morning and once at night). My skin doesn't oil up as fast anymore, and my skin was still soft and not dried out. The creme makes my skin feel and smell so fresh after using it. I always have issues with my skin, but I had no complaints whatsoever about my face ever since I've been using this product. I'll continue using this product for as long as it keeps working for me great. I recommend trying it only if you get zits on your face once in a while, not

Pros:

Easy, good, healthy skincare routine that everybody show follow.

Cons:

Pricey, drying to the skin, eczema patches formed, cleanser is too harsh, too fragrant, needs to include a moisturizer in its "complete" system.

I really wanted this product to work (and I still do). Even after trying it, and knowing it doesn't work for me, I still always watch the infomercial and keep asking why such an easy system, doesn't work for me! I used it a few years back. Results never really showed up. It made my skin really dry (must use moisturizer!). I have mild eczema on my fingers, but never really on my face until I started using ProActiv. The cleanser (with its beads) is way too harsh to be used twice a day. The only good thing about ProActiv, I could say, is the refining mask. It really did dry out my pimples overnight. But then I'd find myself using the damn mask every night because the ProActiv system itself wasn't working!

Cons:

TOOOOOOOOO much money... and faked me out. i thought it was gonna work but then STOPPED.

this stuff worked for me for a few months, but it just stopped and i broke out again. that seems to be the case with many people... it'll work for a minute then just flip on you. im tired of wasting money on things that dont work.

Pros:

NONE WHATSOEVER!

Cons:

Broke my skin out worse than it was broken out before I started using it!

Was given to me as a christmas present and the persont hat gave it to me paid $80 for it! For that kind of money, I expected my skin to be as clear as it was the day I was born! I have never had bad acne in my whole life until the last year. I had moderate acne that was not too bad when I started using Proactiv. After a month of using it, I had a bright red rash on the side of my face that made it look like I had terrible acne! This product sucks!

Pros:

cheap and it actually works

Cons:

definately agree with everyone else when they say that it's pretty drying

looooove it. a few months ago oxy came out with a new wash containing salicylic acid, but for some reason, i think this one works better on my skin. anyway, i have oily, acne prone skin and this definately clears it up. i use this every morning and night, along with a deep pore cleansing scrub every other day and a mud face mask once a week. great results. although i am in a search for a good moisturizer.. any suggestions that would work well with this?

Pros:

its the best product i have truly tried, ever.

Cons:

for some people, like me...it took many weeks to kick in (7 to be exact) and random spurts of breakouts here and there. eventually your skin works with it and it becomes the miracle worker everyone has been talking about.

carly's site sounded true and so did there uncensored feedback on ebay, but how will you know forsure? i know what your thinking as you read this....."this proably isnt a real person. its probably fake feedback to make the product soundgood" wrong. this product speaks for itself and has changed my life. im sure it will for you to. just remember.....to stay loyal to it. the moment you stop using it and give up is the day all hell breaks loose and you get zits worse then before. so keep on it and im sure your results will be breathtaking as it was to me and thousands of other people to. bottom line...this product is the best and is worth every cheap penny.

Pros:

When you first start using it, it begins to clear up small breakouts, makes skin feel smooth.

Cons:

DRIES OUT SKIN A LOT!!! makes skin very dry and flakey, DO NOT use if you have sensitive skin!

I have sensitive skin that is prone to dryness, and when i first started using i only had a few small breakouts i wanted to get rid of. when i first started using it, i saw an improvement. my skin soon became very very dry and flakey but i continued using it. i continued using for one year until my skin started to break out like CRAZY and it was destroying my skin. my skin is much worse than when i started using proactiv.

Pros:

- works extremely well

Cons:

- EXPENSIVE!
- you CANNOT stop using this product or you will break out worse then before!

I used proactiv for years until I finally decided to stop shelling out 50 bucks every two months. I figured I was ok because my skin was clear for the most part. WELL I THOUGHT WRONG! I broke out with worse acne then I had ever had before and started breaking out in places I previously had never had acne problems. I tried medications and creams from my doctor and none of it worked, but finally broke down and went back on the proactiv and my skin cleared back up in a matter of weeks. I use the moisturizer as well because my skin gets really dry around my mouth. I haven't noticed that it has made me break out at all.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
