Pros:

Prevents new acne from appearing, skin is less oily, and clears blemishes. It slowly works, but is very effective.

Cons:

Cream dries the skin of the face, if you accidentally put a little more than you're supposed to.

BUY IT!

Pros:

Smells nice.

Cons:

I've used this for a while, and I didn't notice any change at all. I feel it working, but there is no difference no matter how long you ise this product.

It didn't work for me, but it has worked for other people because of different skin types. STILL TRY IT, THOUGH!

Pros:

It makes me skin feel soft, and clean. Also, the tone of my skin is much nicer.

Cons:

My face is not clear yet.

I have been using this product for a month or so. The first two weeks my skin broke out really bad. I was also experiencing a really bad burning/painful rash like thing at first, tho that has since cleared up and gone away. I think it was just a reaction to such a strong product (i usually only have ever used Oxy Pads). I can't really tell if its working or not. The break out is not so bad now, it is only in the one spot that I always break out, along my jaw area, but it is taking a lot longer than usual to go away and I am getting really fed up. Other pimples have popped up but seem to go away almost over night. It's just this one area that is driving me crazy. The rest of my skin looks great! I almost don't need make up on the other areas of my face. The skin is soft and the tone is great.

Pros:

works really well, makes my skin smooth and glowing

Cons:

NONE

I have had acne for over 15 years and I have used proactiv for the last couple of years. I do not have any unwanted side effects from using it long term. When I first started using the products, my skin was really dried out. I was only using the 3 step system and not a moisturizer. When I started using a moisturizer (applying it last) in addition to the 3 step process, my skin has been almost flawless. Rarely do I have a pimple. NO product is going to make you stop having pimples forever. However, Proactiv can greatly improve the quality of your skin. If you have sensitive skin, they have the 3 step system for sensitive skin also.

Pros:

The price is excellent for the product value, and the gel formula is easy to use. It's not too terribly overdrying and overpowering. It does it's job.

The best thing about this product is that it lasts a long time thanks to Dan's packaging, and it really does it's job.

Pros:

Starts working immediatly. I noticed a huge difference in 3 days.

Cons:

dry skin patches after 1 week, but that goes away in 4-5 days.

By far the best I've ever used. Even my 13 yr. old daughter commented on the awesome results after only 1 week.

Pros:

Clears skin quite well. Cheaper, and easier to access than many acne treatments.

Cons:

May dry out skin,or leave it a bit red.

This product worked really well for me! Someone even asked me what i had been using and if it was proactiv. Still have a few break outs here and there, but nothing like before AcneFree. I love this product. I highly reccommend it! I can go out without makeup and not feel self concious. Try it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
