Pros:

does seem to even out skin tone, doesn't bleach fabrics the way other treatments do, worked well for first couple of months

Cons:

Also had problems with ordering & being overcharged, cancelling, the onset of cystic pimples...

I had the same problem that a lot of others had-- had mild-moderate pimples, and it worked great for the first couple of months, then I started developing huge, painful cystic acne spots. I had NEVER had a cystic pimple before... took some internet searching just to figure out what it was!!.... but they haven't stopped and they don't go away for literally a week or longer. on to the next product!

Pros:

-works.. for the first month or so
-semi-cheep, Cheeper then Proactiv
-includes a moisturizer.. which help alot.
- includes a $5.00 descount on the next purchase of this product.

Cons:

-Does not clear all of your acne.. it works on the big one
-Forget one treatment (You are surpposed to use it once at day and once at night) and your screwed
-know your propotions.. once you run out of one thing, you have to buy the whole thing again

I am a boy and i used to use this. It did not make my acne go away. Note that i have used this product for about 6 months.. This is not ment for a long time use.. i guess this wasn't ment for me. If you have oily skin.. DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I am using oxy and that is working for me.. i guess this wasn't meant for me.. P.S when you sweat , it looks like milk is running down your face.. didn't help my image. .. If your activve and sweet alot.. not for you

Pros:

starting price

Cons:

price goes up
dispenser broke
does not last a month
difficult to return
break outs where there were none before

Seemed ok the first 2 weeks. After that breakouts began to occur where none existed before. Customer service made it very difficult to return. New package was sent before trial period was over at $15 more than original price and they make you pay shipping to return something you didn't ask for.

Pros:

Made pimples smaller.
Pimples didn't last as long.

Cons:

Pimples didn't fully go away.
Skin was sore daily from the strength of the spot treatment.
Skin was very dry.
Pillows and clothes had bleach stains from the product.
They say to give it 45 days to work and in this time your skin might get worse first.
Smells horrible.
Never stopped getting pimples.

Probably depends on your skin type. Cons severely outweighed the Pros. Isn't worth the money.

Pros:

stoped my breakouts(maybe got a few new one) .
skin felt amazing and really smooth.
easy to use .

Cons:

bleaches your clothes , towles unless you use white .
expensive .
does not work for everyone.
drys out skin( as people say).
seems like its not working

I've suffered with acne since grade nine and now im in grade 11 going on 12 and about a month ago i got curious and started and got the six piece kit for about $80.00 or lesse and been using proactive for about a month now and ive seen some improvements in my skin one it hit the 3 weeks mark . i still have a long way to go before it clears but but bottom line i actually love proative i dont care what people say at all! it may not worked for there skin but bottom line im saying it works for me everyone does say it drys out there skin , yes it is true but it dryed my skin out around my chin , mouth and near my eyebrows and a little bit red but the red and dryness cleared and a little bit after i seen results , it will dry out your skin and you will see your acene get worse and it will bring out new pimples cause mine did it the process and the only thing is you have to go by the directions because i used the mask 4 times a week and thats what made my face dry ! anyways it doesnt hurt to try it & just because it didnt work for alot of people doesnt mean it wont work for you it doesnt hurt to try ps ive never felt so better i can actually look people in the face and have my personailty back!:) hope it works for you<3

Pros:

Simply put, it works.

Cons:

Irritating at first and drying, can take awhile to get totally clear

I have used proactiv a couple times, and it works every time. It doesnt work incredibly fast and it can be irritating at first, but it gets the job done. The first time i used it, it took awhile to get me fully clear, 3 months to be exact. Now it started really clearing me up within two weeks,i stopped eating dairy since the first time(which helped a lot) so that may have been the difference. If you stick with it and follow the instructions, and live a healthy lifestyle, then you should see great results. I recommend using only the 3 piece set and the refining mask. Their other bonus products never really worked for me for some reason.

Pros:

Doesn't dry my skin out
Easy to apply
Individually wrapped pads

Cons:

Hard to find in stores

These work! Trust me! I used to use proactive which worked for me for about 2 years, then it stopped working. It also dried my skin out and made it white. These pads are just effective if not better. They do not dry your skin out and only use 2.5 benzoyl peroxid. IF YOU HAVEN'T FOUND A ACNE SOLUTION. THIS IS IT TRUST ME!!!!!!!!

Pros:

I love this product! It is the only way I can keep my skin clear.

Cons:

Price

I highly recommend this product. I only use the repairing lotion at night so my face isn't so dry. I also use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer. These two products together are great!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
