Pros:

Gel not a cream.
2.5% so you can use more upfront
actually seems to work!!

Cons:

Face redness
Light flakiness

Ok so listen up, I've been on the regiment for a little over two weeks. Maybe its to early to write a review, but I have seen significant improvements in my skin. Acne seems to be fading and fading fast, new breakouts nope... Skin tone has dramatically improved. At first I just thought "well maybe because my skin is red from the treatment, thats why it looks better." No, not the case. This week the redness has been reducing as my skin begins to normalize with the treatment. Im seeing more and more improvements as the weeks fly by. I suffer from 'cystic acne' I had a 'big boy' on my face (which was there for more than a week) before I started the regiment; a little over two weeks and its basically healed... Anyone who suffers from cystic acne knows that these 'big boys' can take weeks, sometimes even months to even start to reduce in size, let alone heal. I still have the dreaded red patch were he lived on my face, but that is fading rapidly, and with the AHA, that red patch is on the outs. At this point only time will tell whether or not this will actually work out for me, but its looking pretty good at this point, so im crossing my fingers. I intend to return to acne.org to update my review at about the eight week mark. Whether that be good, bad or indifferent. However this morning I woke up; went to wash my face, and I knew I needed to get here ASAP... Drink plenty of water, exercise, and eat right.

Pros:

Combined with the rest of the Regimen cleared skin completely.

Easy to apply

Light weight

Cons:

Dryness, but this was easily countered with the lotion included in the regimen.

After suffering for roughly four to five years of acne, and buying into several gimmicks I finally discovered Acne.org. It was only by accident, and on youtube. Dan seemed very sincere and trustworthy. After reading over his website for about an hour I decided to take a chance and order his products. Wow is all I can say. In only a few weeks of following Dan's regimen I was able to finally get clear and beautiful skin. I've been using it every since, my family and friends all comment on how they can't believe how good my face looks. How liberating that feels I can't explain. I had tried medications in the past, which made me sick and only somewhat cured the acne. This however is probably much safer and clears me up wonderfully. Thanks Dan.. Cody McDonald from Lacey WA :)

Pros:

ONLY THE LOTIOON! BUT IS NOT A MIRACLE..it kind of help with breakout

Cons:

CLEANSER: WORST CLEANSER FOR ACNEE!it just rip off your skin natural oils!bad bad baaaad

i used proactiv for over 4 years, but ive never used the complete system together in a big while because i figure out it was too much for my sensitive and delicated skin, sometimes i used the cleanser (by the way is the worst cleanser ive used ,until 1 month ago i realized this was making my skin horrible , i stop using it got better)...the toner and lotion well is not that bad..now im using only the lotion i kinda like it but it hasnt completely clear my skin...if you are going to use the whole system ALWAYS USE MOSTURIZER !i wouldnt recommend this product maybe only the reparing lotion is the best thing from this system.

Pros:

-Smells good
-Clears acne for a short time

Cons:

-Only clears acne for a very short time
-Acne comes back even worse
-If you skip a day, acne flames and gets worse

Proactiv does work to clear acne but only for a short time. Then it just comes back even worse and is flaming red and that is very frustating. I have always really hated the process of it also. The first step of it has exfloiator beads which are so tiny you can barely feel them. The third step of this product left my skin burning after I had applied it. The chemicals seperate and burn your skin unless you shake it every few weeks. Listen people if you only want your acne cleared for a very shor time (like 2 monthts) then, yes, I recommened it but if you want your acne GONE FOR GOOD then DON'T use it.

Pros:

-cheap
-works WAY better than Proactiv
-finally found a product that clears up my acne

This is the first and only acne system I have used that cleared up my acne instead of making it worse! I use the toner and lotion. After switching to Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser I learned that the cleanser from this kit was the reasons for my breakouts (well not entirely.) I gave it a four b/c of the cleanser did not work good for me. Will purchase again and recommend! :D

Pros:

It does everything it says

Cons:

none - if youre using a good moisturizer

Ive only been using it for 2 weeks and it really works. Im 20 and ive had acne for years, they were never too much but they have always been there and i seriously tried everything in the drugstores and nothing completely worked. Maybe because my acne was not so bad, this product definetly cleared them all and my skin hasnt been clean like this for a LONG time! The thing is this product clears up acne but dries out your skin so you really need a good moisturizer. I'm using Dan's cleanser and treatment and Neutregena's moisturizer for dry skin just because i read a lot that Dan's newly formulated moisturizer is not that good :P But anyways obviously my skin is never moisturized enough so i add olive oil when im putting on the moisturizer cos i couldnt find jojoba anywhere but this works fine for me. I definetly recommend this to anyone, i wish i ordered this right away instead of trying all the other products on the shelves thinking they would be enough to get rid of my acne. I hope this will be long term! <3

Pros:

+ Perfect for sensitive skin
+ Controls acne without overdrying
+ Simple to use
+ Fragrance-free
+ Paraben-free
+ Enriched with valuable natural extracts that nourish the skin additionally

Cons:

- Not available in Europe, which makes it a bit expensive to order and takes a while to get.

I live in Germany and have been searching for a proper acne system for many years. Last September I found AcneFree in amazon and first ordered the sensitive kit (but the old one with salicylic acid and the terminator) and did not get very good results. Then I tried the classic orange version which worked pretty well but was a bit harsh for me because my face often looked red if I used it twice a day. Last month I saw the innovated 3-step formula for sensitive skin, carefully reading what has been changed. I told myself that this new stuff must be great. I ordered it and use it for while already. It is really perfect what they have created. I am so thankful and use the system daily with delight, enjoying the results I am getting. I hope they will not decide to change it again, but this one is much better than the previous kit and much better than the regular orange 3-step. Awesome!

Pros:

Works for awhile

Cons:

Acne comes back worse than before

I was getting so frustrated with having acne into my early 20's, that I decided to take the (expensive) plunge and commit to Proactiv. I only started seeing results after about 3 months. Even then, I had fewer breakouts but my skin didn't FEEL clean, if that makes sense. But, since I could see results I kept using it for about a year. I decided to stop using the system to see if my skin was 'cured'. Definitely not! In fact, my acne came back much worse than before after I stopped using it. It scared me, because it felt like Proactiv had just pushed the zits from the past 9 months down deep into my skin and they were just waiting to pop up. I will never use Proactiv again...I threw away about $120 of their products. Now my skin is much more clear and feels great. I regret ever trying it!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
