Pros:

-provided a large volume
-smells great
-not as irritating as other products (e.g. proactiv)
-easy to use/quick to use
-significantly reduced number of pimples
-reduced severity of pimples (not as large or persistent)
-very economical

Cons:

-uses milled walnut shells as exfoliator, would prefer synthetic beads of some sort that are less abrasive
-did not get rid of my acne completely

I'm usually not one to post reviews about acne products, I usually just read them! I use to be a religious proactiv user (for 6-7 years), but I found that it made my skin so hyper sensitive to sunlight that my face ended up much more tan than my neck and ears. After trying a number of other products, which pretty much failed... I tried Carley's Clear and Smooth Industrial Strength for Teens (even though I'm in my mid-20s). It was the best solution for me. I don't use the soap to wash the product of my face afterward as instructed, but I always use a facecloth (I find it makes a big difference regardless of what I product I've used). I still have "light" acne, induced my exercise I believe, but I am consistent with using Carley's cleanser for the past 18 months and do feel it makes a tremendous difference... I don't plan on changing products anytime soon.

Pros:

works at clearing acne.
the green tea moisturizer is awesome if proactive dries your skin.

Cons:

can't buy in stores.
not cheap.

When you order online they tell you that they send you a 30-day supply and 30 days later they will send you a 90-day supply. and so on every 90 days after that. If you order it without knowing this, I am sorry, but you are an idiot who can't read. Or maybe you just didn't take the time to read it. And maybe if you are ordering things online in the future you should read everything before you consent. Also, you can cancel at any time, which includes after you get your first shipment, so you never have to receive a 2nd shipment or have your card charged again.

Pros:

-Helped acne within a week
-Cleared up cystic acne on my cheeks, jawline, neck, and t zone area
-Cheap

Cons:

-Broke me out around my mouth, chin, forehead, and temples
-New white heads every day
-Weird consistency that's hard to foam up, almost feels like lotion.

I had differentiating results with this product, it cleared up my skin within a week but after that parts of my skin stayed cleared while the others became even worse(before I was on a non-medicated cleanser and lotion regimen). I mean I'm no stranger to BP I was on Dan's regimen for 2 years so I'm sure my skin was well beyond getting used to BP phase. Overall I'm content with this product, if you have strange skin like me where some of your skin is very irritable while other parts are tough as a tank and needs something strong be careful. I'm gonna try to use this product and a non-medicated cleanser in the future, except I'm just gonna use this product on the areas where I listed in the pros and use the non-medicated on the areas I listed in cons. As for drying well it's BP people you gotta use a lotion or the dryness is gonna irritate your skin and make things worse.

Pros:

Clears up face, keeps face from oiling up all day.

Cons:

It can ruin your towels if you don't rinse it off completely. It can also bleach your clothes and hair if you let it sit for too long. RINSE!!

I have had acne issues for YEARS. I've used everything from organic acne products, to high quality products such as Proactive. After finally breaking down and going to the doctor about, I was started on a prescription acne treatment, with the active ingredient being 10% benzyl peroxide. One day the pharmacy was out of the prescription I needed (yea...great) so I decided to go to the store to see if they have anything with benzyl peroxide. I found oxy, noticed it had the same amount as my prescription, and bought it. After maybe a week to two weeks, it completely cleared me up. It even keeps my T-zone from oiling up throughout the day. I use it in the morning and at night, and yes it does dry your face out, but using a light moisturizer after washing your face is all it takes. I use to get massive pimples on my chin, and nothing would get rid of them. The painful ones with nothing in them. Yea, those suck. I never get those anymore. I can't remember the last time I've had one. For my face, it took that amount of benzyl peroxide. Neither 5%, or salycic acid works for me. Everybody's face is different, so if you are in the same boat as I was and have tried everything it seems, give this a shot. It's cheap, so what's to loose?

Pros:

Well, it really works in the first few days(3 to 4 days when i get started).
ANYWAY, IF you do really have an IRON SKIN, PLZ keep using that, i bet u can get rid of your acne SOMEDAY!

Cons:

DRIES OUT OF MY ENTIRE SKIN!!!!!
My eyes area became swelling, red, flaky!!!
MY entire face got SOOOOO red, itch, flaky and peeled!!!

Hi u guys!~ i've been using Proactiv for a few weeks. I first used the 1st generation of Proactiv, for about 1 week. which really makes a big different, u can clearly see the acne in my left cheek has improved well. But i quit use it! WHY? it just made my eyes SOOOO TERRIBLE!! when i wake up every morning,i could feel my eyes cannot open up, so swelling and redness all over my face. At first, i think it maybe my own fault, maybe i shouldn't use the proactiv too closed to my eye area. i looked a lot of commercials about Proactiv on Youtube, that makes my heart so firmly to continue to use Proactiv AGAIN! coz i simply want to get rid of acne instantly!! Then i try to use the 2nd generation of Proactiv, well, i can feel there's a little difference between 2 generations~ in 2nd G, the cleaner doesn't have any sand any more, that is a good point. But, i just find my self doesn't fit for Proactiv, I totally feel DESPERATELY!! My face got sooo red, dryness and very uncomfortable!!! PLUS,when im using it, my chin got some new zits!!!! it just unbelievable!!! Give my HEALTHY FACE BACK!!!!!!! Do you think it's really RISK FREE???!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

Clears Skin, Maximum Strength Acne Medication Kills Bacteria, Flattens Raised Bumps, Easy One Step, Can Be Used on Chest & Back As Well.

Cons:

Dries Your Skin Out as it Dries Out Your Acne.

This stuff works great and very quickly. After a little over a week, my face is mostly clear & all my raised bumps have flattened out. I've tried prescription creams & pills from the dermatologist, MaxClarity, Proactiv and countless other products. Nothing has worked as consistently and as fast as PanOxyl. I saw improvements within the first 2 days and my skin continued to improve more and more each day. This stuff is also very inexpensive. This is the clearest I have seen my skin in the past five years that I have been suffering with acne. Even my mother and sister can see a change in my skin. I experienced dryness around the corners of my nose & the crease between my mouth and chin. Just use a good moisturizer that doesn't clog pores while using this product. The dryness is the only down side but didn't bother me one bit since it actually worked very well. This stuff is definitely worth trying!

Pros:

clears up skin, no stinging or burning, and no irritation! not very time consuming

Cons:

doesn't last very long

I have used this product for about 5 days, and I already see a huge difference. I am 14 and everything I have tried hasn't worked. When I heard about this I thought I would give it a try, and it absolutely works MIRACLES!!! My skin is not irritated like some of the other cleansers caused. Overall, this product worked amazing for me!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
