Pros:

Works well for mild-moderate acne

Cons:

Too harsh for sensitive/ post accutane skin

The three-step skin care works really well for mild to moderate acne but failed with me when my skin got severe. All of cliniques products work for sensitive skin and the moisturizer is oil-free and also fights the acne.

Pros:

Clears hormonal acne along with cystic acne
Doesn't overdry skin
Exfoliates
Works quickly

Cons:

Long process each night

Okay, most people are writing some prety negative things about proactive. However, everyone has different skin types, so Proative will work differently depending on the person! I have hormonal acne, and it works WONDERS. It doesn't have a harsh smell, you can feel it getting beneath the pores, and it softens skin. These people writing bad things don't understand that IT MUST GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER.Atfirst, Proactive pulls up the hidden blemishes from under your skin, because it needs to heal those TOO! Once Proactive brings up all blemishes, it works to clear and treat them, and QUICKLY. ****TO EVERYONE READING... DON'T LET ME OR THESE PEOPLE MAKE THE CHOICE FOR YOU! FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!**** Because me, you, and the rest of these posters l have unique skin, we will all get different results. I recommend this product to ANYONE fighting acne, because if you try it, it can and most likely will work, and if you don't try it, you may be missing out on your solution!!! ******** I RECOMMEND PROACTIVE TO YOU********

Pros:

-Cleared the majority of my acne
-Doesn't smell or contain unnecessary ingredients
-Gentle
-Don't have to use much

Cons:

- Slightly expensive
-Didn't clear all of my acne..
-You have to adjust the recommender regime to fit your skin.

I like the products. I have combination skin with pimples that used to pop up all over my forehead and cheeks. Since I started using the product (Almost a year ago) I have seen a major decrease in the large breakouts. I still get smaller pimples but when I use Clinique's spot treatment, they go away pretty quickly. I haven't gotten a big, ugly breakout since last summer :) I think a lot of people start using a product and expect it to work right away...that's not the case. You have to give the product time & use it in a way that works for you. I use the cleanser (1 pump) morning and night, the toner (I think it's called clarifying lotion) twice a day, and the moisturizer at night in the needed spots. I use the spot treatment when necessary. It's a little expensive, but it the best thing I've found so far.

Pros:

-large quantity for low price
-easy to apply (gel)
-clears redness and acne with patience and time

Cons:

-may burn, dry, and/or irritate skin at first, but be patient! The product works! Your skin will get used to it soon enough and when it does, clear skin! And make sure you use moisturizer.

If you just follow the instructions, this will be a lifesaver. I use a gentle Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer with this which works just fine for me. The most important thing is that you follow the 3 step process twice a day and have a great benzoyl peroxide treatment like this! Great product, large size, and inexpensive.

Pros:

Leaves skins feeling clean
toner is nice

Cons:

Evening cream stinks!
Products are harsh on the skin
it doesn't help in the long run

it doesn't work! I have been using proactiv for 3 months now and in the first 4 weeks my spots got worse. I was told by proactive to keep using it as it normally gets worse before it gets better so I did. I started to see some improvement but then in one day I broke out with spots all over my forehead and on one side of my face. I have finally decided to stop using it. Please don't buy this product!

Pros:

Clears skin fast
Does not burn/cause excessive drying
Does not smell
Inexpensive

Cons:

None yet!

This has been by far the most effective acne treatment I've ever used! My acne cleared slightly when I was on birth control, but after coming off it's gotten much worse. After using this for just 4 days 1-2 times a day I've already seen a big improvement. I have no new breakouts, blackheads and redness are both gone, and pimples are shrinking. I had been using a face mask with 3.5% BP, but it was not doing much at all for me. This has not caused drying for me like others have reported, but I still apply a moisturizer after using PanOxyl. My skin is not very oily to begin with, but not dry either.

Pros:

Works sort of, keeps my skin ok
when first started using it my skin was really really bad, with deep bruising pimples everywhere, and it improved quite a bit to begin with

Cons:

doesn't totally clear up skin
leaves skin dry
still get pimples and little blackheads

Not a long term solution. I use it every day, twice a day as recommended, properly, and it isn't everything thats promised. I still get a couple of deep bruisy pimples, and still gotta squeeze my blackheads. I think also makes scarring worse coz it drys your skin out so much.

Pros:

Very effective, inexpensive, readily available.

Cons:

This cream really dries out your skin, it stings a little when you put it on (not really a con in my opinion, but just so you know).

I initially only bought this 10% Quinoderm Cream while waiting for my acne.org regimen to arrive. I do not have very severe acne compared to some other people and the photos I've seen on this site, but I do suffer from an ongoing attack of lots of red, angry, pussy spots, especially around my mouth and cheeks. This cream has really worked in clearing up my problem areas. Everyone says it dries out your skin, and it does, it really dried out mine, so just make sure you moisturise, because I didn't. My acne.org order arrived this morning, I ordered the regimen, the AHA+ and the Jojoba oil. I've been very impressed by the Quinoderm cream, it really cleared up my spots. I'll let you know how I get on with Dan's PB. I really recommend it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
