Pros:

home delivery
exfoliates
cleared up 95% of my acne

Cons:

dries out skin
made me red(der)
EXPENSIVE-company is hard to deal with
harsh chemicals

I used proactiv years ago and loved it. my skin was clear for years without it then it started to break out again out of nowhere. i went back to proactiv-it took about 3.5 months to work all the way-only cleared up about 95% of my acne. i stopped using the toner-it made me redder and that helped and got me 96.5% clear. now i wash with it, put clean and clear spot gel on ANY spots, then apply the repairing lotion. after that--in the am i apply clean and clear moisturizer--in the pm i apply vitamin e oil over my entire face. now i am 98.5-99% clear. the combo of the proactiv-minus the toner-with clean and clear and vitamin e seems to work for me. i still use the mask every now and again-but all over my face for preventative measures. *it did take several months for it to really work well, but i noticed improvement about a couple of weeks. *the vitamin e oil has make the marks fade and has made my soft and leaves it glowing *I HATE THE COMPANY-THEIR COSTUMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. THE BILLING PROCESS/TAKING MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT IS WHY I AM ONLY GIVING THIS PRODUCT A 3-WHEN I WOULD GIVE IT A 4. I THINK THEY ARE UNETHICAL FOR MANY REASONS-ONE OF THEM BEING THEY TRIED TO DOUBLE CHARGE ME IN THE SAME MONTH-SEVERAL TIMES-HAD I NOT CALLED THEM AND CALLED THEM OUT ON IT-THEY WOULD HAVE ROBBED ME BLIND. I AM GOING TO TRY TO ORDER IT OFF E-BAY-EVEN IF I HAVE TO PAY MORE AT LEAST I WON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM DIRECTLY.

Pros:

Benzoyl Peroxide in the refining lotion does help. I got a free towel

Cons:

Doesn't work as a system, Bleaches your towels!

I'm glad I tried Proactiv because it introduced me to Benzoyl Peroxide (it works people! If you haven't tried it yet get the Acne.org stuff and DO IT!). So the repairing lotion is relatively good because of the BP, but its way more expensive than other creams anyway. The rest is JUNK. The cleanser is far to harsh and scrubby, it brought back acne on my forehead that had cleared up 2 years ago. Toning is bad, don't do it. It does nothing for acne and Proactiv is no different. The refining mask I got free with the pack I bought was okay, but not superior to any other mud mask. If you get this, use the free towel to dry your face because otherwise you will have to chuck out your good towels

Pros:

IT WORKS,..I have had skin problems for over 40 years! They are almost gone! It took a few months for my skin to go from severe to almost clear. I love it. I used to hate to look into a mirror. I now daily use a 10 power makeup mirror to help me control those hated blackheads and swollen lumps under my skin. I truly believe that in a few more months, I will have clear skin for the FIRST time in over 40 years! YEA!!

Cons:

You have to pay a price. It may cause pealing of skin. Thats GREAT to allow ClearZit to get deeper into those darn infected pores. If you have ever had a date tell you had bad your skin looked, then there are no cons if this stuff helps.

It may be hard to find, but the net will help you find it. If you hate how you look, this stuff will really help. Maybe even make you zits/blackheads go away. At least it will control them. The best thing I have ever used,..I'm 62! Acme has ruined my self-esteem for over 40 years. Now I have found something that really works!!!! I'm not afraid to look in a mirror when I'm out in public. Don't know if I may need to consider using a sun screen. I just don't care,..my skin is looking BETTER.

Pros:

Product will clear up your acne.

Cons:

The benzoyl peroxide is damaging for your skin, it is a mild bleach and will bleach your skin along with towels etc. The pH of your skin will change.

When you eventually decide to stop using proactiv, your skin will break out quite badly. This is because proactiv changes the pH of your skin. When I made the decision to stop using proactiv after two years, I developed acne worse than I had ever previously experienced, and I been forced to start taking medication to solve the issue. I do believe proactiv will clear skin of acne, however you must be aware of the consequences.

Pros:

I dont have anything good to say about this product because you cant deal with them. My first time of buying it was a nightmare. They overcharged my account and when I phone to inquire, I was hung up on.Some bitch called Rachel. They stressed me out big time. If you find it in a store, you can buy and try but never give out your credit card info. to them. They advertised for free shipping and they dont honour it.

Cons:

My credit card was charged almost $250 over 1/12 month period as if it were to be grocery and no proactive and when I phoned to find out , I attracted a rude representative who hung up on me.I have lost hope of even trying to use it. Its ridiculous, they advertise for things they cannot abide by. I dont believe it works because of their behaviour and never want anyone falling in that predicament and will not recommend that to anyone.

Stay away if you have to use your credit card. If you buy online, they will send you something different and they will overcharge you. They claim to have ship items to me and they cant produce tracking numbers meanwhile they charge me but have not receive all.Customer service is very poor, very irresponsible company. Dont say I warned you!!!

This has been the only benzoyl peroxide treatment to work for me and has been a life-saver! (Order the larger sizes or repeated shipping of smaller sizes is a waste of money) ty acne.org!

Pros:

Finally, something that works! Not only did this product clear my acne, it also diminished the dark spots left by previous breakouts. For the price, you can't beat this treatment for cost, quantity, or effectiveness.

Cons:

This product will bleach any fabric it touches, towels, clothes, etc. It did dry my skin out quite a bit the first few weeks, even with moisturizer. After my skin became used to it, and with regular moisturizer I haven't noticed any significant dryness.

I've never had anything work like this! Honestly, I was at the point where I'd tried everything and I'd resigned to the fact that I was just going to have to live with less than perfect skin. Thanks to this product, I no longer have to do that. I've never felt so free to just be me without having to worry that all anyone is seeing is my terrible skin.

Pros:

Cons:

Over drying
A bit pricey

I have moderate to mild breakouts, so this may have been a bit much for my skin. At first it seemed to be working and drying out my existing pimples. After using it for about 2 weeks, I started to get a lot more under the skin pimples and blackheads. My thought is that is stripped my skin of too much natural oil, so my skin had to over compensate and produce more oil, thus making my skin more prone to breaking out. Even if you have severe acne, I don't think this harsh product will work in the long run. I hear the 2.5 BP wash is better on the skin, so I may give that one a try if I can muster up spending $11 on something that may make my skin worse.

Pros:

Has slowly started to clear my skin. SLOWLY.

Cons:

This is a SCAM. They don't tell you when you order the first $19.95 set that they will send you and HUGE set less about a month later. Then charge you 3 payments of 19.95 + 7.99 for the inital suprise. you can send it back but they only will refund the $19.95.

BIGGEST SCAM EVER. they take advantage of peole with FALSE ADVERTISING and you will end up paying $7.99 for a delievery that you DID NOT ASK FOR. AVOID PROACTIVE.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
