Pros:

It smells better then most skin care products and thats it!!!

Cons:

EVERYTHING excpet the fragrence! It dried out my skin to the point that it was raw and burned when i touched my face. It left wilts and scars on my right cheek!! Nothing about Proactiv worked for me. Its so not worth the money you pay for it.

I will never ever use this ever again.

Pros:

Got rid of most of my acne, very affordable, and very fast turn around to get the orders out.

Cons:

Dry skin, occasional breakouts that are pretty bad, I'd say I get one or two random pimples per week still.

Great product, really improved my skin tone. My acne wasn't too bad but this completely got rid of acne that appeared everyday. No more blotchy red spots on my face. You MUST get the moisturizer to go along with it. I didn't to start and used Olay and it was horrible, it didn't absorb and I had the white color all over my face. Also, the AHA+ was the difference maker. The treatment alone helped but the AHA+ really did the trick. I don't use the moisturizer at night and go right from the BP to AHA+ on my entire face which seems to work the best for me. Wish the random pimples would completely go away but I can deal with them since its much better than before. I've used this product for over a year and it has been steadily improving that whole time. You should stick with this for at least two months because thats how long it took to show big improvement for me.

Pros:

Cheap, ease of use, can find it at any drugstore.

Cons:

Dries out your skin, you can't forget to take pills.

Since going off of birth control about 2 years ago I started to get acne that just got increasingly worse. I have tried proactive and prescription medication but nothing seemed to help in the long term. After using Nature's cure i've seen a vast improvement in the amount of pimples I get. The cream makes your skin dry and itchy so I only use it at night and put a moisturizer on during the day. It is true that if you forget to take the pills your acne will flair up again, but I am hopeful that I found a real solution to my acne problem.

Pros:

Applies easily and clears skin.

Cons:

Can be drying.

I am amazed by how well this product works for me. I have struggled with moderate acne since I was 25, and for the first time in four years my skin is completely clear. I've been using this product for roughly 6 weeks. The product is easy to apply and feels very cool and comfortable. Expect dry, flaky skin for a few weeks after starting with this product, even when using moisturizer and joboba oil. However, by week 5 my skin was pretty much back to normal (minus the acne). This product is well worth the dryness, because this is the only acne product I have used that actually cleared my skin and is keeping it clear.

Pros:

It worked for the first bit, caused my acne swelling to go down

Cons:

It dries out your skin super badly, the toner smells really gross, it stopped working for me after 2 months now my acne is pretty much back

If your acne isnt super bad then i would suggest going on proactiv, if its pretty bad go to the dermatologist and demand something to get rid of it, screw the benzol 5%.

Pros:

It definitely *feels* like a medication.

Cons:

It's a harsh product, over priced and smells scary.

This product is pretty harsh on skin. When using Proactiv I was always pretty gentle, yet it sucked a lot out of my skin and left it dry, flaky and irritated. Their so-called "amazing" product, the refining mask did *nothing* for me. Except for leave my skin flaky. It's not worth the price, in my opinion. Plus it smells bad. Spend your money elsewhere.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
