Pros:

Clears spots and acne very affordable.

Cons:

None to me

My skin is very sensitive so i use the cream thrice a weak to minimize the side effects. just wash face with facial wash for sensitive skin (johnsons) and apply at night and with a good moisturizer i am sorted. i have really tried lots of treatments but with this one...i am totally sorted out.

Pros:

makes skin feel soft

Cons:

-over drying
-smells bad
-does NOTHING for acne
-expensive

do NOT buy this. ive been to hell and back trying to find solutions for my acne. this does absoloutley nothing. i used it and i had no results so i went to the dermatologist and she told me that the main ingredient in proactiv is benzoyl peroxide and that is an ance treatment that is found in just about any store bought face wash. so proactiv is no diffrent than your average clean & clear or anything like that. people who use it and swear buy it are honestly just waisting their money. go to the dermatologist and honestly they gave me an oral pill to take and a night and morning treatment and my acne was all gone within two months. i get so many compliments on my skin now and i love it.

EXPENSIVE!

I used Proactiv for about 3-4 months and it did nothing for my skin at all. Don't waste your money on it. Proactiv is awful.

Pros:

Works!
Non-scented, didn't cause redness or peeling

Cons:

Bleached my pillows

I had horrible hormonal acne after going off the Pill that was made much worse by Carley's treatment. I bought this in desperation and without much hope but it worked beautifully. Within a week my skin calmed down and after about six or eight weeks, all the active acne was gone. Initially I used it every night after washing my face with a mild cleanser - now I use it about twice a week because I rarely have active pimples. If I feel a breakout coming on, I start using it nightly again. It works on everything, whiteheads, blackheads, red pimples and cysts. Really really amazing product! I'm thinking of giving the Acne.org Glycolic Acid a try to see if it can clear up the left-over red marks. My advice to ladies to who are planning to go off birth control is to start using this about a month or two BEFORE you quit the Pill. According to my dermatologist, BP works best as an acne prevention measure. Wish I'd known that before.

Pros:

Clears acne, leaves skin soft and smooth. Effective on both face and body.

Cons:

Can be drying.

The 10% can be a little drying but overall an excellent product. I would recommend trying the lower dose first. I've also found this is great for shaving. Leaves a lot less irritation and reduces ingrown hairs.

Pros:

-Makes skin look amazing!
-Cheap!

Cons:

Causes skin to flake after a couple weeks of usage, but can be rectified with a moisturizer.

I've used various acne products all my life ranging from benzoyl peroxide to salicylic acid and nothing can beat this product. I am absolutely amazed at the quality of this product and I can promise you that no other acne treatment on the market can beat the cost and effectiveness of this benzoyl peroxide treatment. It not only rid my skin of all blemishes, but helped get rid of lasting scars that took weeks to go away. Bottom line is BUY THIS PRODUCT! And if you're hesitant to put your credit card information down to order this product, I can promise you that this product is not a scam! Dan actually wants to help you!!!!! I also want to add that if you are a teenager dealing with acne like I was and just happened to stumble upon this website. I must clarify that this treatment does take time and must be done religiously day and night to work! It took about two weeks' for my acne to disappear.

Pros:

- The refining mask was okay... I guess
- The commercial...

Cons:

- Dried my skin out BADLY
- Make my skin flake
- My skin relied on it
- If I didn't use it for ONE day I would get horrible pimples
- It smelt awful
- The third step made my skin SUPER greasy
- When I was applying the cleanser it kind of hurt because of all the beads in it...
- The price was painful
- The bottles would eventually go concave, making them fall over so it's hard to organize your bathroom

It dried out my skin horribly, by horribly I MEAN HORRIBLY. It was horrendous, my skin was flaking, it hurt to smile, moisturizer wasn't working, exfoliating treatments weren't working, proactiv basically killed my skin. On top of that, if I forget to wash my face, hello pizza face. When I say pizza face, I mean my skin looked disgusting. I stopped using it and to my surprise my acne didn't come back. The only think that came back was the horrible dry skin I was talking about. Yeah... that lasted for about 6 months. I pray that this product discontinues sales because it SUCKS. Don't waste your money on this piece of ****

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
