Pros:

It smells great and it really works!

Cons:

It got rid of all my blackheads. The little pimples disappeared FAST but it takes a while for the big ones to go away. It leaves my face feeling fresh and clean.

If you have dry skin, after applying the 3rd step, put on a LIGHT moisturizer and you'll be fine. It worked for me. But not everyone will getfast results. If your pimples are BAD..you migh want to try something else. Try Proactive for about a couple months and if you see no result, don't waste your time or money on it! Good luck!

Pros:

My Skin is not flaky. It was flaky to start with. I figured with BP and the "leather face" feel, that I would flake real bad, but I didn't

Cons:

The refining mask hasn't worked for me, I was beginning to get a zit on my forehead and I used it overnight, now I have a full on pimple! Other than not being flaky, I don't see much improvement.

I bought this product because I have blackheads, and even though its unsightly acne, it sucks looking like a strawberry w/out make-up. I hope this product helps, I have only been using it a few days. I was disappointed though, when I opened my package. If it works so well, why do they have a whole line of pimple fighting products. On TV they make it sound like 3 little steps...like that's all you need, then you open the box and they are selling you make-up, and face wipes, lotions, even dandruff shampoo. It makes me loose some faith in this product, I hope it works!

Pros:

it works well sometimes

Cons:

it makes my dry skin more dry and flaky and tight. maybe this makes my skin more prone to spots???

i use it and reccomend it. it DOES work but i think its just my dry skin thats the problem.

Pros:

It worked for me, cleared my skin in about 2 months (nothing I tried before worked..). My acne came back though about 3 mo after I stopped using it. Now i'm back on it!

Cons:

I don't have sensitive skin, and I can still feel that it is a little hard on skin. Be careful using it on the face. It's ok on the back. A little on the expensive side.

Doesn't work for everybody, but try it if you don't have sensitive skin.

Pros:

It makes your skin feel really clean and healthy. It makes your skin tone more visibly even and healthy looking.

Cons:

It does nothing to help with your acne. It dried out my skin, and made it flaky. Acne still kept coming up, and it worked no better than the o.t.c. meds at Wal-Mart.

Don't waste your money. I was discouraged by these before I used it, and I ordered it anyway, and it did exactly what everyone on here said it did; NOTHING! Don't waste your time and money. Spend a little more and go to the derm. They will prescribe you with something that actually works! Good Luck:P

Pros:

Smells good, cleanser removes dead skin cells, repairing lotion is so smooth and soothing. Repairing mask gets rid of imflammed pimples overnight.

Cons:

Expensive. Made my skin break out SO much more and hasn't improved at all.

It only works on some skin. I have several friends that sware by it and it has worked so well for them. However for me, it has not. I have dark acne scars from where the pimples were that I got when Proactiv was 'purging' my skin. I still use the cleanser now but i'm going back on my retin-a micro. It's a trial and error product so I would only try it as a last resort.

Pros:

Smells good, gentle on skin.

Cons:

Only works for certain skin types. Did absolutely nothing for my skin after praying for results for about a year. Am 27 and have had acne since I was 13. This did absolutely nothing but make my skin smell good.

I would recommend that others at least give it a try. But if you don't see results within a few months stop using it. It's not worth the money to keep going.

Pros:

It didnt make mu skin any worse.

Cons:

It was expensive, when I returned it the lady at the counter didnt want to give me my money back. There is also to many steps, but If it worked that would have been fine but It didnt work.

I wouldnt waste the time of money.
December 28, 2007

Pros:

Smelled nice... seemed to work

Cons:

Expensive, needs continuous regular usage

Proactiv was controlling my life! AAH! In order for it to work for me, I needed to be so thorough with it. But the price was killing my wallet. I stopped using it and developed really deep, cyst like acne, something i never had before. I'm not impressed.
December 28, 2007

Pros:

stops acne from developing

Cons:

makes skin VERY DRY and itchy.

It works but after a week my skin got very dry and itchy. The lotion doesn't even mosturize it makes the skin dry! Not cool.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
