Pros:

Feels clean after first use.

Cons:

Doesn't control oily skin.
Burns.
Been using for a week and I haven't noticed a difference, I've only noticed more breakouts.

It's okay if you want the fresh clean feeling but honestly just go with proactiv this stuff probably only works for certain skin and stress types.

Pros:

Had bad acne since high school. Now in mid 20s. Been on a few medications over the years but my acne always seems to come back. Tried Benzac a year ago and have been a loyal customer ever since. It cleared up my skin within a week!

Cons:

Ive heard from other people that it dries your skin out bad. I dont seem to have this problem, but I do put a little moisturizer on in the morning. I have found that the treatment stops working when you get to the last quarter of the tube.

I love this product soo much. Ive been using the cream for a year and take it everywhere I go. Im going to start using the facewash this week also (didnt realise it existed until yesterday). Like I said though, I found that the tube stops working when there is about a quarter of the product left. Not sure if anyone else has this problem? Its a small price to pay for the confidence of having clear skin though :)

Cons:

Burns, makes pimples twice as big makes them almost scarlet.

I wanted this product because I heard good things so this why you SHOULD NOT get it it doesn't work and just makes thing worse!!!!! I used it on almost every pimple and rinsed it off everywhere I put the cream made everything bigger! I watered my face and some went back to normal but I HATE THE PRODUCT NEVER EVER USE IT! Plus Benozal peroxide drys out skin so pimple goes away and means you can't wear makeup, and gets rid of good fighting bacteria leaving you defenseless aganist diease

Pros:

- clears acne

Cons:

- not enough detail in instructions
- EXPENSIVE
- small bottles

I began my proactiv treatment 3 weeks ago with a prior knowledge and game plan of what i needed to do to beat it. I purchased Jojoba Oil along with a Complex 15 moisterizer for my Oily & Sensative skin and i began my regime.I do morning & night, in the morning in the shower i begin with my cleanser adding 2 drops of Jojoba that i got from SuperStore. i add a little over a dime amount of cleanser to my finger and apply to my face and VERY GENTLY apply to my face for 1-2 minutes. The jojoba oil @ this stage helps to reduce any flakes better then the cleanser. i then rinse by cupping water into my hand ( NEVER A FACE CLOTH ), again ever so gently to ensure i do not irritate my skin. Once i finish my shower i PAT DRY my face gently and allow the rest of the moisture to air dry which takes about 5 - 10 mins for me. i then apply my Refining mask to any problem zits that i want to reduce redness or shrink for about 10 mins, i use enough of the mask to cover the zit, i leave this on for about 10 mins then wash off, VERY GENTLY with cool water. Again i Pat Dry & Air Dry. Then i apply my toner with a cotton pad ( cotton balls sometimes leave cotton on my face so i do not use them) i use about 5 - 6 drops and apply all over my face & neck. I then let it air dry. After i apply my Repairing Lotion(BP 2.5%) to my entire face and neck, using about another dime amount, however at the beginning i used less as it was to irritating. i allow the Repairing lotion to airdry once applied for 10 mins, then i apply 3 drops of Jojoba oil to my PALM and dap my fingers in it then apply to my face first patting it on and then spreading it very gently. i wait a few minutes and then apply my Complex 15 moisturizer, using a little over a dime amount. In about 10 - 15 my face would be smooth and dry, the jojoba oil leaves a light shine and i may have to wipe some off using a cotton pad to remove excess oil and reduce the shine. 3 weeks later, i am clear! thanks to proactiv & [link removed] i am now

Pros:

easy to use
friendly service
it actually works

Cons:

expensive

my face is clearing and getting clearer every day. After many products I have found my last hope, PROACTIV!!! I has made my skin extremely dry in some places (sides of nose, above chin) but I think this is how the product works, to dry out the oil in your skin so pimples can't get the oil.

Pros:

Can be beneficial to some people, great toner and moisturizer (green tea)

Cons:

Too expensive if you have health insurance, face wash too aggressive

I think Proactiv set would be best suitable for young skin with mild inflammation/bacteria-related acne. I think the face wash with scrubbing particles is way too aggressive on sensitive skin, and is better used as a weekly scrub. The toner is my favorite, though I don't think it needs to be used twice a day; once at night every day or every other day should be enough. The BP is 2.5%, which is good, but there are cheaper prescription alternatives such as Epiduo, which can prevent acne as well as heal. Proactiv's green tea moisturizer's great; feels light and never broke me out.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
